A More Appropriate Man

Stephen chose to arrive via taxi rather than to take his car. He didn’t want to go through the hassle of looking for a parking spot again.

When he arrived at the restaurant, he couldn’t help but sigh and shake his head.

He knew the place, it belonged to a classmate of Amalia’s, one she tolerated and could consider a friend.

Unfortunately for Stephen, when he arrived, the first person he bumped into was Jacob Ling who had stepped out to take a call.

When the other man saw him, he grinned and walked up to Stephen.

“Mr. Sy.” Jacob Ling spoke his name as if it were quite disgusting.

“Mr. Ling, what a surprise to see you here.” Stephen said, pretending that his fiance had not told him about lunch with the businessman, or that his sister had not called him to complain.

“Well, I had meeting with your girlfriend.” Jacob Ling answered.

“Fiance.” Stephen corrected him.

“I’m sorry, what?” Jacob Ling gave him a confused look as they stood outside of the restaurant.
