51. Silent

Kalix couldn’t sleep, he stood silently on the balcony, holding a cigarette without lighting it.

Clearly, he knew something was wrong with himself—emotions becoming harder to control, a desire to solve every problem with violence. Yet, on the other hand, he didn’t want to admit he might have mental issues. After all, he had died once, experienced the worst and most painful day he could never forget.

He sighed, forcing himself to stay calm and rational. Unconsciously, he stood there until the early morning, even as the sky brightened.

Only when the system spoke did he realize, “Go to sleep if your mind has started to calm down. It’s already morning.”

There was a furrow on Kalix’s forehead, but he didn’t reject the system’s words, instead, he went to his room.

Slowly lying down, he closed his eyes. In his brief sleep, he dreamed—dreamed of his past life.
