Simon parked his car in front of the shabby house of the retired police officer who handled the investigation of his mother’s death decades ago. It was a cold case, the investigation lead to a dead end, and no culprit was convicted. They didn’t even have the slightest idea as to who was the true mastermind of that ambush. It was one of the reasons why his father developed depression. The pointless investigation that lasted years was truly exhausting. Justice was out of their grasp. Simon peaked at the window one more time. The black car with a tinted window was still parked just outside the house of John Graham. He didn’t see any movement on the inside of the car. Good thing there was only one car. The premises were clear, and no other suspicious-looking cars or persons were seen. “These fuckers will not stop until you stop, Morelli. They had been silent when you put attention to the case. Now that you wanted to dig more about the case, the mastermind of that ambush will try to cover it and this might cost your life.” John was standing behind Simon at the curtained window. Simon never left his sight at the man who was slumped on the floor. Blood had started to pool in the floor while the man was trying to get away. Simon slammed his fist on the steering wheel of his car. He pressed on the gas hard and let his car fly on the streets. Right now, he didn’t care about speed limits or cops chasing him for traffic violations. He was furious because he couldn’t do anything for Mr. Graham.
