Chapter 6

On the stated day of the month, Wenton resumed training with the National Team. He got there to see Iniesta as the captain, he was initially afraid but after meeting and mingling with some of the senior players, most of which are Iniesta's senior in age, he is cleared of his fear.

"You see the National Team is not like the Academy you trained at, that was like a college or high school which surely your seniors must bully you except you have a powerful person or people backing you up, perhaps as a school father or school mother. Here, we are all seen as equals, no matter the number of years you have played and the salary you are earning. Reason behind this is that some of these new players end up showcasing much more talent than the old ones and along the line, they gain more popularity than the ones who played before them. That's just life. " The vice-captain, Andrea says as Wenton went to meet him after the training to complain of the issue he has with Iniesta. He was scared if this issue would really affect his career in the National Team. He wants to get all the advice and information he wants to know on time, so he knows what to do at each point in time.

"You see this team you are coming into?" Andrea asks as a question to which Wenton nods his head. "Don't let anyone use his age or position or the money he has to bully you. Report any form of bully or oppression to either the coach or the club management. They will take serious actions against it and the offender will be severely punished."

"Oh, this is great. I'm no longer afraid. I thought that there was some sort of gap in terms of relations between the new players and the old ones."

"No," Andrea affirms. "We don't do that here, instead most of the old players would be happy to meet and talk with you, especially when you have the talent. They know that you can take the team to greater heights and be the reason why the team is shining among the nations of the world when it comes to football. It has happened in so many cases."

Wenton takes this statement of Andrea seriously, while trying as much as possible to do the right thing at the right time just to avoid Iniesta whom he always catches throwing sinister glances at her. With such confidence boost from Andrea, the vice-captain who is almost his equal in rank, has nothing to fear. His aim is to focus, score more goals than expected. He has been greatly honored to be given the number ten jersey which detects his function to score more goals than the others, prior to this he was going to honor the team and make Iniesta in particular jealous, though he doesn't really intend to take the captaincy from him. Wenton knows that when he has shown much of experience and leadership skill from his angle, he might be honored with the position and his enemy and one-time senior would be under him.

He returns home soon after the training to relate to his mom, especially how his first training went. She had saddled him with the duty of narrating to her how his first training goes and the treatment from his new mates, luckily he meets her at home seated with his father and his elder brother, Aaron watching the TV. He comes closer to see that it's the recap of his training which was relayed live.

"Woww, this is amazing." He says inside of him. "These are people that didn't even want to know anything about my career, now they are even more interested than me!" He drops his kits and changes up once again, no need to take another bath, he had used the bathroom at the National team stadium where the training took place after it before returning, he also got to change his sweat-soaked jersey. That would be taken care of by the hired dry-cleaners together with those of his teammates.

He sits down afterwards to discuss part of what they didn't get while the training was going on. He had expected to narrate everything from the beginning but now he has realized that they were also watching it, no need to say everything.

As he sat down, watching other documentaries with them, a call reached his phone. "It's Imikah!" He says excitedly to his parents, they had learnt of the great thing he had done for their son and hoped to thank him in a special way before he left for Spain.

"Hello," he replies. Wenton doesn't waste time in answering Imikah's calls, no matter what he was doing, he would pause and reply to it, so far as where he is, calls are permitted.

"Wenton, what's up?" He asks in his usual boyish style.

"I'm doing great bro, I just came back from my first training with the English Champions. I want to thank you again for this, I'm really grateful."

"Yo, yo! That's nothing bro. You're a friend and friends would always uplift friends. That's the benefit of having a good friend." He pauses to mark the end of that, as usual he loves to move forward to the major news. "I'll be leaving England in three days, I thought we could spend this last time in England before I part. This isn't actually our last time of meeting, we would certainly meet but under different circumstances, it might be as club teammates. You know?"

"Yah, yah! That's true," Wenton affirms. "My family would also want to come along, don't worry about the bills, they would pay for everything. It's a way of showing gratitude for the great thing you have done for me. I had lost all hope but you revived it again."

"Wow, that would be wonderful! Where are we going?" He asks Wenton.

"I leave you to make the choice."

"No, I insist you do. You know I don't really have the gift of making wonderful choices when it comes to visiting places of attraction, leisure matters like this aren't my main thing, I'm the more serious type between us but if you can't guess right now, you can discuss with your family and inform me later. Is that okay with you?"

"Yeah, sure I will."
