Our young master

“What is going on here? You must be making a mistake. What did I steal?” Eric frowned. He didn't understand why the police would appear out of nowhere and start accusing him.

“Are you messing with us or what? Did you pay for these clothes you are carrying?” Another snarled.

“Yes, my brother-in-law has paid for these clothes. I didn't steal anything.” Eric tried to explain, but little did he know that he was making the situation worse.

The policemen became infuriated by this. They caught him red-handed yet he was lying.

“Where is the receipt for the clothes?” Another asked him, but he was left speechless by the question.

He looked around only to find people taking pictures of him. He frowned. It was like taking a nail to the chest, but that didn't stop him from trying to prove his innocence.

“My brother in law is still in the shop. Let me get him.” Eric wanted to return to the store when he heard a gunshot.

Pak!

A spot near his foot was shot. If he had moved, his feet would be left with a bullet hole.

“Don't you dare move. Hands above your head!” The policemen said while pointing their guns at him, making him realize they would shoot him if he made another move.

But then, luckily, he looked towards the entrance and saw Micheal walking towards him.

Eric smiled, but he failed to see the expression on Micheal's face. Everyone also waited to see if what Eric was saying was true after seeing someone approaching him.

Pak!

Micheal slapped him hard in the face. Eric didn't expect that coming and was almost forced to spin around.

“How dare you steal my car keys too?” Micheal yelled and dipped his hand into Eric's pocket and pulled out a key.

Everyone gasped at the sight of this. Eric didn't just steal clothes but stole someone's car keys.

“What are you saying, brother? We came here together.” Eric gasped in shock. He had even lost his grip on the bags and was now holding his face.

“Who is your brother? Don't drag me into this.” Micheal snapped and turned to the policemen. “What are you still doing there? He stole something, won't you arrest him?” He snarled at the policemen, and they jumped into action.

“Micheal, we came here together. Why are you pretending like this? You ask…”

Pak! Pak!

Before Eric could complete the words, punches, and kicks came from different directions, forcing him to go down on his knees. He tried protecting himself, but against such numbers, he couldn't do anything.

“I came with him. You can ask the guards, they saw when we came in together.” Eric tried to explain but the more he did, the more he was slapped.

That was when he knew he was tricked by his brother-in-law. He initially didn't give him the receipt and framed him for stealing his car. Though Eric was doubtful back then and wanted to ask for the receipt, he trusted Micheal so he didn't ask. Now that trust has been betrayed.

“Shove him into the van!” One of the policemen ordered and Eric was being dragged away. His face was swollen from the beating and lumps grew all over his body.

He tried looking up only to see Michael smiling at him and even had his phone up in the air and was recording the whole event alongside everyone who was watching.

Eric felt sad, betrayed, and gobsmacked. He couldn't say a word, as no one would believe him. All he did was bow his head and was tucked into the van and driven to the station.

___

Days passed yet no one had come to his bail. Eric was thrown into the worst cell with no light but darkness. He lost hope in everything as he hugged his legs, rethinking the entire thing that happened.

Though he expected Micheal to come and apologize for what he did, the lad never came. He felt more and more bitterness and could only cuss him in his heart.

But then the cell door cracked open and one of the policemen spoke.

“Come out. You have been bailed.” He said, and Eric stood up quickly and walked out of the cell. He already knew it would be his wife, so he started building up words to explain to her what happened.

Still in his thoughts when some men clad in suits approached him and bowed. Eric snapped. He looked behind expecting to see someone, but there was no one.

“We apologize for being late, young master.” The men in suits addressed him.

“Me?” Eric said, in shock. Not only him, the policemen watching were gobsmacked. When they offered to bail him they thought maybe Eric was a cleaner, but being addressed as a young master wasn't something any of them could think of.

It was even impossible for their head to come up with such a thought.

“You must be mistaken. I am Eric, not your young master.” Eric replied, still processing the shock.

“We are not mistaken. You are the one we are looking for, young master.” One of the men stepped forward. Though earlier he had a very imposing aura, but now it was all gone. He was bowing respectfully to Eric.

“We have been searching for you for years, ever since your mom ran away with you. We couldn't have found you if not for the viral video that was all over the internet.” He explained further, as it appeared that Eric didn't believe him.

“My mom?” Eric gasped.

“Let's talk somewhere else, please.” The man requested. Though Eric could have declined, after hearing the man talk about his mother, he became invested.

They were about to walk out of the place when the chief of police spoke.

“Excuse me, sir, are you sure this trash is worthy of who you are calling him?” he asked. “I mean, you saw the video, didn't you? He isn't anything but a thief. You…”

Pak! Pak!

Before he could complete the words, one of the men in the suit stepped forward and gave him a whopping slap on the face. The impact made him drop to his knees and his eyes turned red.

Eric was shocked by this. He didn't think the men would stand up for him. Just who are they?

“Don't you dare call our young master such, or you will lose your tongue.” The man grumbled before turning to Eric. “Please let go. I will lead the way,” he added and directed Eric out of the station.
