126 – EVIDENCE

Luke returned to his office a few hours later. Still fuming, he picked up his phone and placed a call to detective McGregor.

“I just confirmed my suspicions.” He said the moment the other man answered the call. “David Humsworth was the man in the alley earlier today.”

MacGregor’s sharp intake of breath portrayed his shock pretty loud and clear.

“What are you going to do now? Will you press charges?”

“Of course I will.” Luke said immediately. “He claimed that he got his injuries from an accident that occurred with his bike but the injuries were clearly on parts of his body which I’d targeted at the alley earlier. I know it was him. I’m one hundred percent certain.”

“Okay, sir. You’ll have to…”

“I don’t have to do anything, detective.” Luke cut in impatiently. “I need you to get an arrest warrant and have that bastard locked up immediately. The longer he stays on the loose, the greater danger he poses to me and the people I love.”

“That’s not how it works, sir.” McGregor stressed.
