EARLIER THAT MORNING…

Thirty minutes after the showdown with his grandfather and the Carmichaels at the lounge, Luke was dressed and ready to leave for work.

He desperately wanted to see his grandfather before he left for the office but he’d already put the old man in a bad mood due to his cheating scandal so he decided to hold off until after work.

Just as he was about to step out of the main door, he heard someone call his name.

“Luke!”

Immediate recognizing the voice, Luke turned and his heart swelled with joy when he saw his grandfather hobbling towards him.

“Were you just about to leave without saying goodbye to me?”

Luke was so choked with relief that he could barely speak.

“I thought… I thought you were upset with me, grandpa.”

Lord George waved his hand dismissively.

“Of course I’m upset. That doesn’t mean you should leave without saying goodbye.”

Luke smiled and nodded.
