Zane lived in the old dorm building meant for poor students who couldn't afford the luxury of living in the school's expensive accommodations. Thus, after making his way down from the hospital, he decided to rest in his room.

"Look over there, that is the poorest kid in school who is so poor he can't even keep a girl," Zane heard one of the upper-class students pointing at him and laughing. He was with his group of friends, who were dressed in expensive clothing, signifying their high class.

"Such a loser. He deserves to die for even trying to challenge Brandon."

"Why is he even here? Does he want to receive another beating?"

"Leave him be; he has learned his lesson and wouldn't dare to challenge anyone in this university."

"Yeah, he should know that Richland isn't for poor rats like him."

The boys kept tormenting him verbally, but he chose to pay them no heed. He was already used to such torturous words.

Zane first rushed to the school infirmary, where he saw Julius resting. He felt sad that Julius was beaten for his sake; if he had the power, he would definitely avenge his buddy's sake.

After seeing that Julius was okay, his mind was now at rest, and he quickly left for his room.

'I can't wait to see what is in this phone and if I can find out who that lady is, I'll thank her,' Zane thought as he finally reached his room.

The first thing he did was have a nice bath to wash off the sweat on his body.

After having his bath, he changed into new clothes and sat on his small bed, then brought out the phone.

After unboxing it, he was greeted with a brand-new phone of exquisite build; it was silvery in color and the screen was jet-black. There was a big fingerprint on the screen of the phone, making Zane wonder what kind of phone it was that had such a big fingerprint on the screen.

"I should try using the power button to switch it on," he muttered to himself and pressed the switch.

Nevertheless, nothing worked. The phone didn't even show any sign of powering up, even after pressing it more than ten times.

"What kind of phone is this? The power button isn't functioning at all," he frowned.

"I think I should check the manual. Maybe the phone doesn't work like other phones."

He took the small manual from the box and read it.

- Step 1: Place your bloody thumb on the screen.

- Step 2: Power up the phone.

- Step 3: Sign in with face scan, blood fingerprint, and username.

"Bloody thumb? Does that mean I have to injure my thumb before it works?" Zane was confused. This was his first time seeing a phone that needed one's blood to power on.

It made him think of those fantasy articles where the main character has to use their blood to unlock magical abilities and the like.

"Anyway, I should give it a try." Since his phone's screen was broken and phones are expensive, he decided to do it.

Zane found a razor and cut a small area on his thumb, causing it to bleed. The blood spread all over his thumb.

"This should be enough," he muttered as he brought his bloody thumb and placed it on the phone.

Following this, the phone vibrated, signifying that it worked.

Seeing this, he quickly pressed the power button.

The sound of gears moving speedily sounded in the room as light appeared on the jet-black screen.

Zane watched with curious eyes as a logo resembling a magic circle appeared. He didn't think too much about the magic circle since the name of the phone was actually MAGICTECH.

After six seconds, a new screen appeared on the phone.

Zane hurriedly confirmed his fingerprint and scanned his face with the selfie camera. He also picked a username @lordzane.

Zane was pretty surprised. Why would the phone want to access all that? he asked himself. But the next notification made him even more confused.

Nevertheless, his other phone, the one with a broken screen, suddenly vibrated. When he picked it up, he was greeted with a credit alert.

Zane's eyes widened.

"Is it real? The phone actually rewarded me with money for simply signing in??" he cried out in surprise and joy.
