Chapter 5: Tough Decision

Hannah muttered quietly, but it seemed it was not that quiet enough for Lady Hart not to hear. Her deathly glare shifted to her grand-daughter, "Anything you care to share with us, Hannah?" She asked, a smirk on her face as her eyes glistened.

Hannah looked up, her eyes widened in shock!

All eyes were on her, this was getting too absurd!

Her Grandmother's voice jolted her from her trance, "I said, anything you want to share with us?" She asked yet again, this time, colder and sharper.

Her heart beat two times faster than before, she quickly shook her head, "Oh no, it was just a slip of my clumsy tongue. Sorry, you can carry on." She said in one breath.

Lady Hart stared at her with a glare, then cleared her throat and faced the others, "We need experts at marketing, people who could connect us to bigger companies and get us shares with them, people who could get us cooperated with them." She looked around at everyone and continued, "Any questions?"

A man who looked like he was in a early forties with shabby blonde hair and a little mustache stood up immediately, "And how do you think we can do that, Lady Hart?" He asked with a hint of mockery.

Lady Hart laughed, and soon enough, she changed her facial expression and glared at him, "Every one of you would be put to a test, because I can't risk some group of people coming here to ruin my business and just leave."

"Test?" Everyone asked themselves as murmurings could be heard at every corner of the room.

Lady Hart was starting to get irritated, "Enough!" She yelled louder, banging the table more harsher than before.

"From now till the ending of next month, if you all can't provide me with letter of co-operation, with one of the top five companies, then forget about working here again." She looked at everyone in the eye, before saying sharply, "Meeting dismissed."

Immediately, her high heels shone brightly and clung to the tiled floor, and she walked away proudly, the distant sound of her shoe faintly sounding.

As soon as she was out, people split in groups and another round of chattering continued, and rants were heard at very side of the room.

"How could we possibly force top co-operations to co-operate with us, that is absolutely absurd!"

One of the women rolled her eyes, "I think it's high time I looked for another job. I don't think I can do this."

Hannah looked around, beads of sweat formed around her head, what was she going to do? She couldn't afford to lose this job. She had no other means of survival, and she knew who her Grandmother was, she was a woman of her words!

Out of frustration, she sighed again, this was already getting to her head, her head banged loudly so she held it in pains, just then, her phone rang.

"Hannah, I'm outside, come out." He said, and without waiting for her to reply, he hung up the phone.

Hannah carefully took her bag and walked out of the room gently and soberly. Her mind revolved around what her Grandmother said, she was obviously done for!

Immediately she sighted Elliot, she flunged her Gucci bag towards him in distress while walking hastily towards him.

Elliot easily figured that something was wrong, so he was curious, "What's wrong? Did anything happen at work?"

Hannah sighed, an amount of silence occupied the air, as much as she doesn't want this man in her life, some pieces of her does. She didn't had the intention of answering his question, but she had the little amount of urge to answer.

After what seemed like hours, she finally spoke up, "Grandmother told us to co-operate with the top five companies before ending of next month."

Elliot raised an eyebrow, "So? And what if you don't?"

She glared hardly at him, was this man joking with her in her sober times, she scoffed, "The penalty of not doing so is simple, you get laid off. And don't you know what that means, it means my means of survival is very low."

Out of a blue, Elliot asked, "Is there any way I can help?"

Hannah laughed heartily, "Except you're magically a CEO of a renowned compnay, then you can help, but as long as you're still how you are, forget it." She said amidst laughs and walked away.

Elliot stood in awe and deep thoughts looking at her retreating figure walking away as his head swing both left and right.

Elliot seemed to be caught in a web, "Should I do this?" He muttered to himself as he brought out the card in his pocket which was all wrinkled up, and took a last gaze at it.

He hesitated, before dialing the number on the phone. It rang twice before the voice he dreaded to hear spoke.

"Hello, Mr. Lee on the phone, who's this?"

That voice sent shivers down his spine, he never thought he could do this, but here he was now. Silence enveloped the air.

"Hello?" Butler Lee repeated since no one spoke.

"Hi!" Elliot answered almost immediately.

"With whom am I speaking with?" He asked the same question, yet again.

The voice he heard seemed more aged than before.

"Hello?" Butler Lee repeated.

This voice, he so much dreaded this voice!

"It's Elliot!" He said quickly.

Butler Lee seemed shocked, he never imagined for Elliot to call him anytime soon or even call him. Or was he dreaming?

"Elliot, is this really you calling?" He asked with utmost disbelief visible in his voice.

"Yes, look, I need to speak with you first thing tomorrow morning, can you meet at that hospital?"

Butler Lee smiled widely, he was accomplishing his missions one after the other and that made him happy.

"Of course Young Master Harrison."  He said happily.

Elliot felt irritated by those words, but he still needed to think this through tonight, but for now, he's made up his mind temporarily, "Don't call me that, I can still change my mind."
