Chapter 56

It was the third day in a row and Beverly had not been to work. Her phone lines were switched off and he had no idea where she was.

His schedule had been too occupied to grant him some time to go to her house.

Thanksgiving dinner was the last day he had been there and he thought that he could squeeze out some time to go see her later.

When the door of his apartment slid open, he hopefully wished that she would walk through the door in her normal crispy manner, but it was only Alex. He resumed his coffee with a disappointed look on his face.

"It may seem as though you are not happy to see me," Alex began as he approached him with the morning news.

"You know me too well," Jason said.

"Like the palm of my hands boy," Alex said as he retreated.

Jason admired the way Alex was too professional. Even though they had developed some kind of bond over the years, Alex still knew that there was a thin line between work and friendship between them.
