Laxus was unable to sleep that night as several thoughts ran through his mind.

He was bothered about Nessy and where she would have gone to at that time of the night, but he was more worried about Linnie’s visit. First of all, she had shown up unannounced, meaning that her visit meant something, but then again, Laxus did not even give her the chance to corrupt his mind with whatever reason she had come for.

There was also the issue of her mini-purse which was left in his apartment.

Thinking about it now, Laxus could not tell if Linnie deliberately dropped the pause or she really forgot it, because as far as he could remember, she did not even sit for a minute, so how on earth did she leave her purse on his couch.

Something was definitely not right.

Laxus was woken up by the ringing of his phone. Laxus was surprised to see that it was Mr. Henry that was calling him.

“Good morning, Mr. Henry,” Laxus said immediately he picked up.

Laxus sat up in bed immediately, because regardless of

“You didn’t see this staff in question at all throughout the night last night?” The detective queried, looking intently and deeply into Laxus’s eyes, as though he was looking to detect a lie in his eyes.Laxus knew that now that he was being suspected, he could not afford to look away. If he did, it would give the detective the chance to rope him in, because somehow, Laxus felt that the detective was trying to hold him responsible for anything at all. Laxus had this feeling that the detective was holding something against him, or maybe the man did not just like him. Laxus could not tell, but the feeling was strong and it was there and it was unsettling.“No, I did not see her at all,” Laxus lied again. But even as Laxus lied, his heart beat faster, because it was not certain that Nessy was missing. Maybe she went over to a friend’s apartment last night, or even returned to her parents, and if either of those options were the case, it meant that Nessy would be found and equally interr

There was no way the detective would see what Nessy texted him that he would not immediately rope Laxus in. With the way the detective had been going, he would be more than glad to get Laxus arrested, and when that happened, Laxus would have no one to bail him him.“Laxus, please give the detective your phone,” Mr. Henry said.He sounded somewhat worried about Laxus, and also disappointed, but instead of obeying what he had been told, Laxus stood still and unmoving. For the first time ever since Linnie officially became a part of the Kinkaid family by marrying Luther, Darwin sat in his office and conversed with Linnie while they waited for Luther and the fourth person to join them.“Why is Luther taking so much time for heaven’s sake?” Darwin asked, his patience gradually running out.He was actually getting fed up of his son being so reluctant and nonchalant about the wealth that he wanted them to accumulate for as long as they could. Luther was smart and intelligent, but when it came to the affairs and decisions of the company, he was too relaxed for Darwin’s liking. The fact that he did whatever he wanted to do when it liked to do it aggravated Darwin.“He should be here soon,” Linnie said even though she wasn’t sure of that herself. “According to him, the game he had to watch could not be missed,” Linnie asked with a twist of her lips.Darwin would definitely not crucify for openly showing her frustration with having to deal with Luther, beca

  • Rise Of The Rightful Heir   The Unknown Son

Laxus stayed in cell, boiling with anger and rage. He could not believe that a man like him was in cell. This was the first time that Laxus was ever being in the cell, and the worst part was that it was based on a false accusation. He never assaulted or stole from Linnie.“Can I see anyone?” Laxus asked the cop who came to speak with an inmate in the other cell. “You cannot just keep me holed up here without my lawyer!” Laxus began to raise his voice in frustration when he was ignored. He belonged to a powerful and influential family in the country, and it was just wrong that he was being treated like a common criminal. Even thought Laxus had left home and never looked back, he still should not be treated this way, especially when it was even on wrong accusations. The cop left without saying a word and Laxus felt as though he could lift up the bars in the cell and set himself free from it. Laxus began to think about his life and predicament. He should have known that showing up in his

  • Rise Of The Rightful Heir   A Setup

Detective George stared at Laxus and remembered the picture of him that Darwin had shown him. The picture hadn’t done Laxus any justice, because Detective George realized that Laxus was more good looking than that picture. Again, he noticed the distinct features that Laxus had that were missing in Luther, like the color of their eyes, and hairs, and even their noses. But still, he could not stop wondering why Darwin would want to “punish” his own son, but whatever the case may be, he would simply do his job and get his raise that was long due.“I have a right to demand a lawyer before granting an interrogation,” Laxus told the detective. Detective George nodded; damn, Laxus was good. The detective had known that Laxus was good even though he had fidgeted at first, making him suspicious, but then again, he was speaking to a Kinkaid, so he did not expect Laxus to be anything less than brilliant even though he was no longer associating himself with the Kinkaid family.“Yes, you do, but
