SHE BETRAYED HIM.
It was 5:00 p.m. when Robert Edward, a slender and athletic individual, confidently rode his powerful power bike into the grounds of Campbell University.
One couldn't help but notice his striking appearance, resembling that of an athlete or a runway model. However, the truth was far from glamorous, as Robert struggled to even afford two square meals a day.
His days were filled with a constant hustle, juggling part-time jobs, and often neglecting his lectures. If he wasn't running errands for rich students, then he would be doing one of his part-time jobs. It was no surprise that he was considered the poorest student on campus.
Initially, Robert had been granted admission to the university on a scholarship. However, due to the vice chancellor's greed, he was abruptly denied the scholarship and forced to start paying tuition fees after just a few months.
Casting a glance at his watch, Robert realized that time had slipped away, and it was already past five o'clock p.m. With determination in his eyes, he switched on his bike and ventured deeper into the heart of the campus. He had one final delivery to complete before returning to park his bike by 6:00 p.m.
Coming to a halt in front of an elegant three-story building adorned with delicate flowers and exquisite interior and exterior designs, Robert skillfully parked his bike.
"Excuse me, could you please open the gate?" he politely inquired.
The security guard promptly approached and, without hesitation, opened the gate for him.
Perhaps the guard assumed he was there for a delivery, but that assumption was incorrect.
Robert's purpose was to deliver a special package to his girlfriend, Olivia.
The package contained a customized Burberry headscarf valued at approximately $750.
This purchase had cost him three months' worth of wages, as he decided to dip into his savings instead of relying on his salary.
With the wrapped package in hand, he entered the building and paused in room 005.
After three unsuccessful attempts at knocking, he reached into his pocket and retrieved his phone, dialing Olivia's number.
Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!
There was no response.
His face contorted into a deep frown as he turned around and walked back to his bike.
Realizing that any delay would jeopardize his punctuality with the next customer, who could be quite irate even with a mere minute's delay, Robert hastened to return to his hostel on his bike, muttering to himself.
"I must leave this package in my room!" he reminded himself.
Aware of his dwindling time, he accelerated towards the vicinity of the male hostels.
Suddenly, a swarm of students emerged, running in the same direction, and Robert narrowly avoided colliding with one of them.
"What the hell?!" he exclaimed, swiftly applying the brakes just in time to avoid a collision.
"Where is everyone rushing to?" he couldn't help but inquire, observing the palpable excitement that seemed to grip the entire campus as they hurried along.
"It's Owen! Owen! He's selecting a girlfriend today," a student exclaimed, her voice tinged with astonishment. "He's already chosen someone and is about to propose!"
With that, she hurried away.
"Owen?" Robert pondered to himself before zooming off.
Owen was a well-known affluent figure at Campbell University. Despite his ugly appearance and the fact that he only had one eye, girls flocked to him solely due to his wealth. None of them seemed to care about his looks or the layers of makeup he applied to mask his unappealing visage.
He had a reputation for selecting the most beautiful women on campus, only to discard them every two days. Robert was well aware of this.
Often, he would deliver substances like Postinor, Crystal Methamphetamine, GHB, or Amyl Nitrite to enhance his sexual experiences with these women.
That's why Robert found it astonishing that Owen was now proposing to a girl. It wasn't the kind of thing he would expect from him.
As he approached the gathering of students, a noticeable chant filled the air: "Say yes! Say yes! Say yes! Say yes!" Robert couldn't help but roll his eyes at the spectacle. Although it held a captivating allure, he resisted the urge to stop and continued onward until a thought struck him.
What if his girlfriend was among the onlookers, clustered there to witness the event?
Parking his bike, he seamlessly blended into the crowd, his eyes darting around as quickly as possible, hoping to catch a glimpse of her.
Finally, he found himself within the circle of the campus's grand proposal scene. However, what he didn't anticipate was that the person being proposed to was his girlfriend, Olivia!
"Olivia, say yes! Olivia, say yes!" The chants resumed once more.
His eyes widened at the sight before him, and his heart raced rapidly. He was too stunned to utter a word as he observed Owen, one knee on the ground, delivering his proposal.
"Olivia, you should accept my proposal. I'm wealthy, and only I, Owen, can help maintain such ageless beauty," he declared.
The entire crowd erupted in excitement, with murmurs filling the air.
"She should say yes already! They are a match made in heaven!" exclaimed one student.
"She should say yes and move to his luxurious mansion so she can arrive on campus in a flashy car!" added another.
"Oh my god! I can't wait for their future children. They will be incredibly beautiful!" gushed a voice.
"Nah, Owen is an ugly individual who doesn't deserve such beauty," retorted another.
Robert almost let out a smirk at the one genuine comment amidst the sea of gullible students who seemed to be licking Owen's ass.
As Owen took Olivia's hand to slip the ring on her finger, Robert's voice halted him midway as he bellowed out Olivia's name.
Anger flashed across Owen's face as he turned to confront the person who had disrupted his long-awaited golden moment.
Despite his involvement with various campus beauties, he had set his sights on Olivia for his selfish reasons—his family's desire to merge business contracts with hers.
Owen stood tall and imposing, exuding an air of power and dominance. His voice rose sharply, filled with anger, as he addressed Robert. "What the hell are you doing here? You should be attending to your deliveries! Why, in God's name, are you shouting her name in such a manner with your poverty-stricken tongue?"
His words pierced deep into Robert's skin, yet this time he wasn't there for Owen or to engage with the students who typically looked down upon him.
Without hesitation, he lunged towards Olivia, attempting to grasp her arm. However, she swiftly evaded his touch and retorted with disdain, "Don't touch my skin!”
ROBERT, IS SHE STILL YOURS? The whole place went dead silent like a graveyard. Most of the students were stunned by what Robert, the poor church rat, was trying to do. That was what he was fondly called by some students. “What the hell is he trying to do?” The first whisper hit Robert's ears, but he was still recovering from how Olivia just stopped him from touching her skin! “Did he just disrupt Owen's proposal?” "Now that he woke the sleeping lion, he must be dense to disrupt such a proposal!" Of course, every student was stunned; the majority of them didn't know Olivia was Robert's girlfriend. She had asked that they keep it low-profile. She told him she wanted a personal relationship. Owen, with his one eye, wandered to where Robert was still standing. He clenched his fists tightly as he felt his fingers digging into his palms in anger. “What do you think you're doing?” He sneered. Robert remained unfazed. He didn't even bother to give Owen a look; instead, he foc
MOST RIDICULOUS CALL EVER?! The whole school was still in a frenzy about what just happened. “Did you say that poverty-stricken boy hit Owen?” One of the students asked. Most of the students didn't know of it, but it didn't take a minute before it spread like wildfire. The whole campus, academic groups, and school websites featured videos of Owen and Robert. Meanwhile, Owen lay in the school infirmary for treatment; the punches were too heavy to just let slide. Pulling his phone out, he went over to the school website. The world seemed distorted and out of focus, and anger began to cloud his perception once he read the negative comments that weren't supporting him. “Oh my god! "Who knew Owen wasn't strong... haha haha…," one said. “I hate to admit it, but poor Robert is an Anthony Joshua!” “He knocked Owen down with a punch. The boy might be poor, but I think he won this fight!” Each one he slid down to read taunted him more, and for some reason, he couldn't take it any
HILARIOUS CALL BEGOT A GRAND MOMENT! That was hilarious! Well, it was also an emergency. After a few minutes, the emergency alarm began to ring so loudly that it awoke the whole campus. They rushed inside and headed straight to the acclaimed room "050.” When the security and professors saw them, they all rushed towards them. “What's the problem?” asked one of the professors… “We were called for an emergency in room "050." “ One of the men replied, still heading straight in there. “I'm sorry, we have no emergency in there. I think there is a misunderstanding!” The men didn't listen to her; they continued rushing towards where room ‘050’ was. From each tag at the door, they could easily decipher. Onlookers and other lecturers were surprised by what was happening; they never heard anyone ask for help or anything else that the fire was burning, but now the emergency was here. How is it even possible that room 050 needs an emergency?" One of the students mused. “Wait room ‘
RISE OF ROBERT EDWARD. When Robert opened his eyes, he couldn't understand what was happening. The hours have slipped by, and it wasn't just morning, but now evening. He had been unconscious for almost twenty-four hours. He was met with a well-furnished ward filled with medical equipment; it was the best one in the state. The whole place was lit up with LED lights, and he was lying on a bed shirtless. He glanced down at his body only to see different medical equipment plugged into it. Where am I? Shouldn't I have been dead by now in my dorm?” He had a puzzled expression as his mind raced, attempting to understand how he got into the hospital. His eyes wandered around as his thoughts raced. What could have happened? Did he die and be sent back to life? Or is it even a rebirth? His brows furrowed as he scratched his head, trying to make sense of the jumbled thoughts in his mind so he could crack the code of where he was. But the door suddenly creaked open, snapping him o
BILLIONAIRE LIFESTYLE. Robert sat in the corridor of the colossal building, marvelling at its opulent details. The tiles were so polished that he could see his reflection in them. He didn't need anyone to tell him that his mother was incredibly wealthy. However, a nagging question lingered in his mind—how long would her fortune last? The thought consumed him as he sat on the couch, deep in contemplation. Suddenly, a knock on the room's door disrupted his thoughts. Startled, he stood up to investigate. The door creaked open, revealing three individuals who entered the room. Robert couldn't tear his eyes away from them for a moment. Were they truly maids? Dressed in exquisite attire, the three of them proceeded to set his breakfast on the table before quietly departing. Robert approached the array of food, his curiosity piqued. With each plate he opened, he discovered an extravagant, five-star billionaire's meal. The sight caused him to blush as he pulled out a chair and took a s
Meanwhile, inside the cinema, Olivia and Owen were seated in the VIP section of chairs. The air was filled with festive chatter among the students, yet nobody dared to speak too loudly as Owen had requested silence. The scent of popcorn wafted through the room, intensifying the anticipation for the upcoming movie they were about to watch. "Honey, can we change the movie?" asked Olivia, wrinkling her face as she pleaded for everyone to support her choice. "Babe, it's the official selection today. It wouldn't be fair to change it, don't you think?" Owen tried to convince her with a smug smile, but she persisted. "I don't want it. I want 'Mea Culpa!'" she stated confidently. The sound of chatter and laughter filled the air, creating an excited buzz as everyone settled into their seats and ordered their popcorn, ensuring nothing would grab their attention once the movie officially began. After a few minutes of conversation with the cinema manager and leaving a generous tip, Owen retu
CHAPTER 8. UGLY?? There were onlookers, and students began pulling out their phones to capture the moment. However, in Campbell campus, there seemed to be a prevailing hypocrisy among them. They would eagerly record the most dramatic moments solely for the sake of gaining social media attention, even if it meant capturing someone's suffering or even their last breath. Amidst the commotion, Olivia couldn't help but giggle. She felt a sense of satisfaction knowing that Robert would be expelled from the cinema. Owen, on the other hand, stumbled back in shame. He didn't fully comprehend Robert's actions, but the forceful punch had left him disoriented. He blinked rapidly, trying to regain his focus. As Owen lifted his head, gasps reverberated through the crowd. Even Olivia, who was eagerly waiting for the manager to arrive, was taken aback by the collective surprise. It appeared that there was no manager coming to address the situation. Most students immediately aimed their cameras a
CHAPTER 9. PAY FOR COMMOTION CAUSED. Olivia couldn't help but smirk, a wide grin stretching across her lips, when she saw Robert go mute in response to Ivannah's words. Ivannah wasn't someone to mess with. Not only was she the owner of the school's cinemas, but she was also known for being ruthless and cold-hearted. She never backed down on her words. Seeing how sternly she looked at Robert, Olivia and Owen felt relieved. Finally, someone else was going to deal with him! They exchanged glances and both smiled wickedly. Suddenly, Robert burst into laughter. "Pay for everything?" he repeated incredulously. "That's impossible! Why should I pay for everything when I did nothing wrong? I was the one being bullied by this ugly duckling and his gold digger," he said, pointing his hands at both Olivia and Owen. "If you're struggling financially, you should politely ask for assistance!" He sneered as he spoke. Ivannah's eyes slightly widened at his words. Did he just suggest that she was
The company, once vulnerable in the wake of Madam President’s death, was now regaining its footing under Robert’s guidance. But his journey had only just begun, and he knew that he needed to be vigilant, for there were still enemies lurking in the shadows. His mother’s funeral, though somber, had not only been a farewell but also a declaration to the world that Robert was no longer the boy who lived in his mother’s shadow. He was stepping into his role with a newfound sense of purpose, and he would not be undermined. In the weeks that followed, Robert spent long hours at the company’s headquarters, pouring over documents and familiarizing himself with every intricate detail of the empire his mother had built. His butler, an older gentleman named Alfred who had served the family for decades, became an indispensable ally. Alfred had known Robert since he was a child, and he had seen the boy transform into the man standing before him.One evening, Alfred found Robert still working in hi
Madam President, as she was fondly known to the world, was a woman of unparalleled influence and charisma. Her life was a tapestry of triumphs, woven from years of building her empire and leading her company with a firm but compassionate hand. She had overseen countless business successes and was a beloved public figure, admired for her resilience and business acumen. But even the strongest of leaders are not invincible. Behind closed doors, the indomitable Madam President had been battling a relentless illness. The diagnosis had come suddenly and without warning, sending shockwaves through the lives of everyone who knew her, especially her only son, Robert. Despite her physical decline, she never let her illness dim her spirit or her drive to oversee her company’s affairs. Robert often marveled at his mother’s sheer determination, even when she was confined to her bed, issuing orders and signing documents with the same unwavering authority. The family spared no expense in providin
The air in the room seemed to grow heavier as the final figure was announced. Lila’s heart pounded in her chest, her mind reeling at the sheer audacity of it all. How could this be happening? Robert was supposed to be the pauper here, the one barely scraping by, not the one making extravagant purchases without a second thought.Meanwhile, Anita’s smile grew even wider, a mix of disbelief and glee painted across her face. To her, it felt as though she had won the jackpot, her wildest dreams unfolding right before her eyes.Robert, however, merely smiled sheepishly, his calm demeanor unshaken by the staggering total. He turned to Anita and said, "I hope you’re satisfied with your picks. Let’s get these wrapped up."At the same time, When the assistant called out the total—$350,000—the shock on Lila and her companion’s faces was almost palpable. Lila’s eyes widened in disbelief, her carefully calculated confidence beginning to unravel as she processed the staggering figure. The man besi
Lila and her companion stood frozen, their eyes locked on Robert. The confidence with which he moved, the calm in his demeanor, and the absolute lack of fear in his voice were all completely at odds with the image of him they had clung to for so long. Every word he spoke, every action he took seemed to defy the expectations they had so carefully built around him.Lila's breath hitched as she watched Anita wheel the overflowing cart towards the register. Her gaze darted to the items, her mind racing as she tried to calculate the worth of everything piled inside. Her heart sank as the numbers began to add up—thousands upon thousands of dollars. The realization was like a punch to the gut. Could this really be happening? Could Robert, the man she had always considered beneath her, actually afford this? For years, Lila had carried a deep-seated belief that Robert was a nobody, someone to be mocked and dismissed. But that belief was now crumbling under the weight of what she was witnessin
Robert let out a calm smile, his eyes narrowing slightly as a cold expression settled on his face. "You're right, why won't I?" he responded, his tone icy and composed.Lila's scorn was unmistakable. She threw her head back and let out a sarcastic laugh, her eyes gleaming with mockery. "Really? Robert afford a bag this much?" she sneered, her gaze landing on the $89,000 price tag of the bag Anita had been eyeing earlier. "You? A pauper like you? Trying to level up so bad—it’s laughable!"She continued, "You’re in way over your head, Robert. You’re just digging your own grave, pretending to be something you're not. This is going to put you in serious trouble one day, mark my words."Her words dripped with disdain, but beneath her confident exterior, a seed of unease began to sprout. She couldn’t shake the memories of her past encounters with Robert. She recalled their run-in at the Luxor Hotel—how she had expected him to be exposed as a fraud or a thief, yet, to her bewilderment, he ha
The words hit Lila like a slap to the face. Her eyes widened in shock, then narrowed in fury, her face flushing with a mix of anger and embarrassment. For a moment, she was rendered speechless, her mouth opening and closing as she struggled to find a retort. But soon, the anger boiled over, and she exploded into a furious rant."You—how dare you!" she sputtered, her voice rising in pitch. "You think you can talk to me like that? Do you know who I am? I’ve got more class in my little finger than you’ll ever have! Those bags—those bags are worth more than anything you’ll ever touch! You’re nothing but a lowlife, a pathetic little con man who can’t afford even a scrap of what I have!"Lila’s face contorted with rage, her voice dripping with venom as she continued to rant, her words becoming more disjointed and desperate as she tried to regain some semblance of control over the situation. "You’re the joke here, Robert! A joke! And as for you," she spat, turning her glare towards Anita, "
The tension in the air was electric, thick and oppressive like a storm cloud ready to burst. The other guests, who had been observing the escalating situation with a mix of curiosity and skepticism, began to murmur amongst themselves, their voices tinged with both anticipation and judgment."Serves him right," one diner whispered, barely hiding a smirk. "He must be out of his mind to go up against someone like Mr. Smith.""Foolish, really," another chimed in, shaking their head. "He’s asking for it. The manager’s going to toss him out on his ear, just wait and see."The whispers grew louder, with some even casting pitying glances at Robert, while others openly mocked him. "He has no idea who he’s dealing with," one person commented with a sneer. "Smith’s a regular here, practically untouchable. That guy is done for."Anita, sitting beside Robert, could feel her heart pounding in her chest. She was visibly fidgeting, her fingers nervously tapping on the edge of the table. The thought o
Robert remained unnervingly calm as Mr. Smith's voice escalated, his threats echoing through the luxurious hall of the VIP section. His demeanor was as steady as a still lake before a storm, showing no hint of the tension burning beneath the surface. The more Mr. Smith ranted, the less Robert seemed to react, his composed expression only further fueling Mr. Smith’s fury.Mr. Smith sneered, his voice thick with venom. "You act like you’re above it all, like you own this place, you think everyone else is just as deceitful as you?"The other customers, were now turning their heads, their curiosity piqued by the growing commotion. Some whispered among themselves, while others watched intently, their food momentarily forgotten.Robert, sensing the perfect opportunity to twist the knife, leaned back in his chair, his expression calm. "Well, Smith," he said with a casual shrug, "if you must know, I own this place."Mr. Smith froze mid-rant, his eyes narrowing as he processed what Robert had
As Robert and Anita left the lively birthday party, the evening air was cool, and the city lights glittered around them. Anita’s stomach growled audibly, and she burst into laughter.“Okay, that’s embarrassing,” she said, rubbing her belly. “But seriously, I’m starving. We’ve been surviving on potato chips, cupcakes, and candy all night. I need some real food—something warm and hearty.”Robert chuckled, nodding in agreement. “I hear you. I can’t believe they called that a party spread. You know what? Let’s go somewhere special. I know a place.”Anita’s eyes lit up with excitement. “Special, huh? Fancy or casual?”“Oh, very fancy,” Robert said, a mischievous smile playing at his lips. “Trust me, you’ll love it.”Curiosity piqued, Anita grinned. “Alright, lead the way. Just don’t make me wait too long; I’m already dreaming about a perfect, gourmet meal.”They drove through the city, the anticipation growing as Robert pulled up to an elegant, upscale restaurant. The establishment exuded s
