"Of course, Hudson. Why would you even ask me that? I'll be your girlfriend, I'm already your girlfriend, silly." Mia answered, her pearly white teeth shining as she giggled.
Jason stood and watched as Hudson leaned in and kissed Mia. His blood was boiling and the rage engulfed him, making him really consider doing something he was sure he'd regret.
Hudson released Mia and turned to look at Jason with a sly grin on his face.
"What are you still doing here, you loser?" Hudson asked Jason, as he pulled Mia closer to him, his left arm hanging possessively around Mia's slim waist.
Jason eyed the arm, gritting his jaw to the point of pain.
"Baby, don't mind him. He's just some really slow guy, in one of my classes, that has this stupid crush on me. I've already told him several times that I wasn't interested but he doesn't listen. He just keeps following me, and I didn't want to hurt his feelings." Mia whined to Hudson, and then placed her palm on his chest.
"Why are you doing this, Mia? How on earth could you say that about me?" Jason gritted through clenched teeth.
Mia pulled away from Hudson and turned halfway towards him. "Isn't it obvious, Jason?" She said his name with a voice dripping with scorn and disregard.
"Nothing can ever happen between us, not now and not ever. Why won't you stop following me around like a creep? I don't even like you!" She yelled at him, looking him up and down like an irritating, buzzing fly that wouldn't go away.
"I knew it. He's that guy that sits behind her in class. God, he's such a creep" A voice said from behind Jason.
"He's a stalker, that's what he is."
"Isn't he ashamed? How can he be doing this to such an innocent girl? God, some people really don't deserve to live and breathe." Another voice muttered behind him.
"He could never be on the same level as Mia. Talk about a classless and foolish act."
Jason could feel the blood rushing to his face but he wouldn't succumb to such words.
"I bet you, the fucker's here on scholarship. He doesn't look like he can afford to go to this school." A different voice murmured.
"I can never be with someone like you, Jason. The sooner you get that into your thick skull, probably hardened by poverty, then the easier it'll be for you to forget this silly crush you have on me."
"Your stupid fantasy of us being together can never come through, Jason." Mia taunted, her short skirt swaying in the wind.
Jason could barely control his rage and stepped forward.
"Let her go, Hudson. There are many girls in this school. Why must it be my girlfriend?" Jason addressed the other guy, seething with rage.
Hudson pulled away from Mia and walked towards him with deliberate steps.
"Are you even listening to yourself? Mia is not your damn girlfriend. She just told you she doesn't want you." He poked Jason in the face.
"She never was your girlfriend and she never will be. So take your sorry ass, and get the hell out of my face, asshole." Hudson shouted in his face, his chest rising and falling as he took deep breaths, face fully flushed with anger.
Mia quickly rushed to Hudson and tried to pull him back, away from Jason. Which was good because Jason had this enticing image of Hudson lying unconscious on the tarred road after he'd beat him senseless.
"Baby, don't get yourself worked up over someone like Jason. He's so not worth it. He's just a poor loser that thinks he has a shot with me. He hasn't even paid his tuition fees." She laughed, and the sound Jason previously thought was light and sweet sounded sour in his ears.
"It's probably why he's harassing us. Maybe he's hoping to get some money out of this."
Gasps were heard all around them.
"God! That explains why he's here fighting for a girl that wasn't even his girlfriend in the first place." A voice echoed.
"He is such a pathetic idiot." Another said.
"Mia should definitely sue his stalker ass, I wonder how he sleeps at night. Such a creep."
"Loser!"
The murmurs swept through the crowd as the crowd surged around them, sounding like they'd enjoy lynching poor Jason.
"Is it money you want? If it's money, then you can have it, you impoverished bastard." Hudson barely finished his sentence before Jason punched him square in the face.
A scream rent the air as Mia's hands flew to her mouth in shock.
"You asshole! How dare you?!' Hudson screamed as he lunged at Jason, returning the blow.
"Ughh!" Jason groaned, as he stumbled a few feet back and the crowd moved back, as if he had a rabid infection, to give him space.
Jason quickly regained his footing and rushed for Hudson.
"Hudson!!!" Mia screamed as blood spurted from Hudson's nose.
Jason landed on Hudson and they stumbled back, falling to the floor in a tangle of swinging and kicking male limbs.
Jason swung his hand back preparing to hit Hudson again, but he was hauled off of Hudson.
His hands were bent and jerked behind him in a painful twist.
He turned his head to find two of Hudson's bodyguards holding his arms.
"Let go of me, you goons!" Jason growled.
"Hudson, baby are you okay?" Mia said gingerly as she went to help Hudson up to his feet.
"Let go of me!" Hudson screamed as he shrugged out of Mia's hands, pushing her away.
He swiped at his broken lips.
"Hold him up." Hudson instructed the bodyguards.
They twisted his arms farther up against his back and Jason groaned in pain.
Hudson balled up his hand and swung his fist at Jason.
The punch landed against Jason's side and he winced , his face tightening in pain.
Jason's head dropped as more punches landed on his face, his jaw and chest and kicks landed on his thighs.
Jason's face was battered and his nose was visibly broken.
Jason groaned and spit out a mouthfull of blood.
Hudson moved back a few steps and prepared to hit him again when Jason suddenly freed himself from his bodyguards and tackled Hudson to the floor.
He pulled back his hand and punched Hudson in the face, returning every punch Hudson gave him tenfold.
His fist swung back, ready to give Hudson another punch when hands grabbed onto him.
They hauled him off of Hudson, who lay on the tarred road, gasping for air and dear life, and threw him to the ground.
Jason's eyes flew up to find his attackers, and his eyes met that of his school chancellor.
"What is going on here?" The school vice chancellor's voice bellowed. The crowd parted and gave way for the campus security to pull Jason to his feet. "He hit me." Jason said to the man, pointing a finger in Hudson's direction. The Vice Chancellor moved to Hudson and nodded respectfully to him in greeting. "You may leave now, Mr. Hudson. I am so sorry that something like this happened to you on school grounds. I apologize on behalf of myself and the school. I assure you that Jason here will not go unpunished for what he's done to you." The vice chancellor addressed Hudson, assuring him. "Make sure you keep your scholarship students away from the ones that can actually afford this school. They need to learn their place." Hudson spat furiously. Ridiculous, Jason thought. He wasn't a scholarship student, he paid his tuition himself! "Of course, sir. I'll make sure that this incident never repeats itself. Once again, I apologize." The vice chancellor said with a grim look on his
Jason gave the men a perplexed look, was it him they were addressing or someone else?Young master. Very funny, he scoffed. It probably was someone else, Jason thought and continued walking. "Young master!" One of the men called and quickly ran up to him."Is it me you're talking to?" Jason asked the man in black with a bewildered look on his face."Yes, young master. If you'd please come with us." The man told him."Come with you, where?" Jason asked taking a step away from the man."You'll know when we get there, sir." The man replied.Jason was about to sprint away when he bumped into another man in black."Get out of my way. Did Hudson pay you guys to do this? Who the hell are you people?" Jason asked, looking around, searching for a means of escape."Sir, we would like to avoid causing any unnecessary scenes here. Please just come with us." The first man said, his hand going to his face as he scratched in a shifty way, taking note of how passersby stopped to look at them."If y
Bison stared at the old man in bemusement, more than a little taken aback by the man's familiarity with him. He took a step back from the old man.The man arched his brow, letting his hand drop in disappointment. He looked sad for some reason. Jason looked around the room, finally taking notice of a girl, a few years older than him, standing by the old man's desk. He remembered he'd been forcefully brought here. "Are you people insane?" Jason blurted out. He had just been kidnapped by these people and they were looking at him as if he was their savior."Excuse me?" The young girl spoke up, arching a well carved brow in a show of arrogance that was second skin to those filthy rich people Jason always saw in the movies. "Who the hell are you people?" Jason continued, completely ignoring Anna's question and glaring daggers at the two of them."We are your family, Jason." The old man answered, taking a step closer to him."No, you are not." Jason replied."I am your grandfather, Jason.
“Wait a minute,” Jason shifted back, his hands running over his face in jerky motions. “I can't be your grandson. I was raised by my grandparents. I have my own family.” The disbelief and frustration was rife in Jason's voice. The lady smiled for the first time, also moving closer to Jason. “That's because we lost you. Grandpa can explain everything to you later…cousin.”Jason laughed then, shaking his head. “This can't be true.”Sensing Jason's frustrated disbelief, the doctor took the files from the desk and crossed to Jason's side, handing them to him a little too reverently. Jason's eyes read the words slowly, over and over again.A 99.9 percent match to Robert Charleston. That was the old man. Jason rubbed his eyes, but the words were still smack in his face. “How?” He whispered, handing back the DNA test results to Robert. Anna answered him. “You're Jason Charleston. You're the heir to Charleston group of companies and that includes the $60,000,000,000 your father left yo
Jason stalked towards his grandmother, his hands shaking with rage. He held onto her shoulders and helped her to her feet. "What the hell is going on here?' He demanded immediately. He could hardly restrain himself from punching Hudson out of respect for his grandmother."What does it look like, you fool? Your pathetic excuse of a grandmother, is begging me not to have you suspended so that you do not miss your exams. Tell me why I should listen to the old hag and pardon you." Hudson said, smugly stuffing his hands into his pockets with his chest puffed out."What do you mean she's begging you?" Jason asked almost exploding with anger. His hands fisted by his side's."Is that not right old woman? Now get on your knees and beg." Hudson kept his eyes on Jason's grandmother, arrogance ringing in his every word. He really believed everyone bowed to his pompous ass, and would always end up kissing his ass, one way or another."Is it true, grandmother?" Jason asked her incredulously, his
Jason paused and glanced up when he noticed that people were stepping away from him and Hudson. He sat on the whimpering Hudson's chest, his bloodied fist about to demolish what was left of the dumb fucks face. One look at the school director standing over them made him breathe, finally the haze cleared and he could hear his grandmother crying. Hudson used the distraction and shoved Jason away from him and quickly standing and stumbling on his feet before going to where Mia was standing. She quickly flung herself into Hudson who wrapped his arm around her.Jason's grandmother ran to Jason, hitting his upper left arm with her tiny purse. “I told you not to do it, I told you!”Jason pushed himself up and stood before the director whose face was red with anger. His bald head beamed in the harsh sunlight. "What happened here?" He demanded, surveying both Hudson and Jason. He faced Hudson, giving Jason his back. "Your pathetic, poverty stricken, scholarship student hit me!" Hudson's wo
Laughter rang out in all directions as the whole school mocked Jason. The director chuckled, “What a hilarious young man.”Jason's grandmother couldn't stand it anymore. She dragged him to the side, trying to find a little privacy to speak to him, try and dissuade him and get him back to his right senses, but avid eyes followed them everywhere. Her grip on his wrist tightened and she simply lowered her voice to an urgent whisper. “Jason, my little boy, I know how hard this is for you. They always treat us poor people like dirt. I have grown so used to it, but now I can see that being poor makes things so hard for you everywhere you go.”She swallowed, eyes brimming with unshed tears. The people who could hear bits of what she was saying strained to hear more. “This boy, Jason, he's even worse than anything we've ever encountered. Jason, he has no soul and no sympathy for the likes of us. Please, let's just stop this madness and go home.”Jason was already shaking his head before hi
Cold sweat broke out on Jason's forehead as he glanced up from the POS system’s screen. What the fuck was happening?“Transfer failed? What do they mean 'transfer failed’?” He asks the director, wide eyed, while Hudson triumphantly went to tell his fans what had happened. The director arched an eyebrow, as if to say he wasn't surprised. “Young man, you don't have the money in your bank account. How can you possibly transfer such a large amount of money when you don't have it?”The director who looked annoyed with Jason shoved the black card back into Jason's hanging hand, his face red with anger. "You dare to waste my time, boy, stand us all out here to play your fantasy games."Hudson's gloating voice reached Jason's ears. “Damn fucker doesn't have a dime. He's finally gone full crazy!”Jason ran his bruised hands over his face in disbelief. “No…no, something's wrong. It's supposed to pay, I know.”“Conniving bastard. You're a low life, Jason, accept your true place in life and pull
“That's brutal. I thought trust funds were to help start, I don't know, companies or at least a small business. What will he do when he graduates?” Jason replied.“Eh. He'll survive. Besides, he should have thought of all that before beating you up.” Barbie replied.Jason nodded, what'd he know about trust funds anyway? Barbie was also right he should have given it thought if he knew what would happen to him if he got suspended. They sat in the third row just as two other girls approached them.“Hey Stacey!” Barbie smiled and waved at one of them.“Hey…” The girl started but then frowned when she saw Jason seated beside Barbie.“Ugh, could this place get any more pungent?” The second girl said wrinkling her nose and sent Jason a glare.“I know right? It smells like poverty “ Stacey replied and they both left giggling.Barbie looked away from Jason.Jason drummed his fingers on the desk as they both sat in awkward silence.“I can leave if you want me to, seeing as you're all bothered a
Steven got out of the car next after Mathew and Jason couldn't help as his mouth hung open.“Jason, are you even listening to me?” Barbie asked with a pout which drew Jason's attention back to her. “Yeah, I'm sorry but can I ask you something?”“Yeah, of course you can.” “Has that always been Mathew's car? Like is this the one he's always been driving?” Jason questioned.“Well that's a random question.” Barbie commented.“Barbie….”“Yeah, that's his car. He got it early this year when the semester started.” Barbie replied.“Are you sure?” Jason asked her.“Yeah, is something wrong?” Barbie asked.“That car tried to hit me on Monday.” Jason told her.Barbie's eyes widened like saucers.“Are you sure?” She asked.“Yeah, it was after I walked you to your car, pretty much everyone was gone. It tried to knock me down. It almost did.” “Oh my God, Mathew!” Barbie shouted marching at him.“Barbie, don't!” Jason hissed, pulling her back.“Why not? He could have killed you!” She shouted, her
The sudden roaring in his ears made him think he hadn't heard Robert correctly. He obviously misheard, that was the only explanation for what he'd heard.“Jason?” Anna called out.“Um yeah, sorry. I'm just… I thought you said you'd found a wife for me but clearly there is something wrong with my hearing.” Jason said, laughing.“Jason, this isn't a joke.” Robert said seriously, his white face straightened with a little censure at Jason.Jason nodded his head “What do you mean you've found a wife for me. I didn't tell you I was searching for one.” He snapped.“I've arranged a marriage between you and the daughter of a friend of mine.” Robert went on ignoring Jason.“But why would you do that?” Jason all but screamed.“Jason! Control yourself.” Anna chided him.“I'm twenty three years old. I don't want to get married.”“You won't get married now. You'll marry when you're ready to take over.” Robert said, steepling his fingers together in front of him. Jason dropped his cutlery with a
“I believe I asked a question.” Robert said, walking forward.“M… M… Mr. Charleston, I am so terribly sorry for all this. A staff of ours has made a grave mistake, I was only reprimanding him. I didn't know that the noise disturbed you.” The manager stammered.Anna stood closely behind him, her eyes spitting fire at the restaurant manager. All eyes were now watching them, no one bothered to hide as they took it all in.Robert seemed to mutter something under his breath before he finally spoke.“Who is this negligent staff that has caused this?” “This is him, sir.” The manager replied pointing a finger at Jason. “That is my business associate.” Robert stated. “W…what?!” The manager stuttered. The receptionist quickly hurried over to him and whispered something. The manager's eyes widened in shock, as he immediately started to beg forgiveness.“Forgive me, Master Charleston, I didn't know he was an associate of yours.” The manager said bowing deeply from the waist. The other restaur
Jason stared in shock as the car pulled away from the curb and sped away.He was utterly speechless. Was the car stalking him? Who was the driver and what did he want with him?His thoughts ran wild as he watched the car disappear down the road. “Move it, some of us want to get home.” A voice said as he was shoved from behind. Jason realized that he was blocking the road on the busy sidewalk and immediately walked to the side.He glanced at his phone and saw that it was already six o'clock. He had roughly one hour to get home, change out of his clothes and head over to the Charleston manor for dinner. He made his way down the sidewalk as he blended in with the throngs of people who were going back to their homes. He noticed the looks people gave him as he walked along. He didn't blame them, if it were someone else he knew he'd probably cross over to the other side of the road.Jason got home later than usual, his time running out more and more. He had a quick shower and changed int
Jason blinked twice to make sure he was seeing correctly. He hadn't received a single message from them all through the weekend and now a summon to dinner? He sighed in resignation knowing that he had no say in the matter and quickly set an alarm to remind him or else he would forget all about it.“Jackson!” Jerry called from his office.Jason swallowed his annoyance at the name. He had already corrected Jerry quietly, that his name was Jason and not Jackson but Jerry didn't want to know.He stood from his desk and made his way to Jerry's office. He knocked once before walking in.He saw Steven seated opposite Jerry doing nothing.“You called for me, sir?” Jason asked as he stood in front of them.“Yeah. Steven here is hungry I want you to take this and get him takeout from that Mexican place down the block.” Jerry said placing some money on his desk.Jason almost laughed. Get Steven his food? “Sir, can't Steven get his own lunch?” Jason asked. “Steven is the son of the owner of the
Jason coughed at the sudden question. Obviously, money actually mattered to the princess that was standing beside him.“Are you ok?” Barbie asked with concern when he finally stopped coughing.“Um.. yeah. I am.” Jason replied bwuth a tight smile.“Ok. I have to go now.” Barbie said.“Already?” Jason asked with a playful pout. “Yeah. I have a family thing that I have to be at.” Barbie replied.Jason nodded at her reply. He was grateful that the conversation had steered away from his carless situation to somthing else.Barbie dug a hand into her purse and it came out carrying a key fob.She pressed a key on it and the car unlocked.“I guess I'll see you later, Jason.” She said walking to the car door.“Yeah. Definitely.” He replied with a smile.Barbie got into the car and reversed out of her parking space, she waved at Jason from her window before she drove off.Jason waited and watched as her car disappeared from view before he turned and made his way to the school's main entrance wh
Jason trailed after Barbie like a lost puppy as she led him back to the burger shop. They got to the shop and thankfully, most students had already left for their next class or done with lectures for the day. Barbie walked to the counter while Jason scored them an empty table that was close to the window. It hadn't escaped Jason that people were looking at them weirdly when they were walking to the burger shop but he wouldn't let that put him down. He was determined to get Barbie's number and no side eye was going to stop him from getting it.Barbie returned carrying two plates with burger and fries and two cans of soda. “I don't think I had fries in my ruined lunch.” Jason said as he stood up and pulled out the seat for her. “You don't like fries? I'm so sorry, I can't have burgers without fries. I guess I should have asked you first.” She replied with a tense smile. It was obvious that they were both trying to impress each other.“It's okay, I like fries.” Jason replied, pushing
The girl giggled which made Jason realize that he'd said that out loud. He raised himself up with little difficulty and stood in front of the girl, heat creeping up to his face.“Are you ok?” The girl asked a bit tentatively. It was as if Jason wasn't paying attention to anything she was saying. He was busy taking in her beautiful, long, curly blonde hair. She had the prettiest hazel eyes and was considerably average.“Hey!” She screamed in face trying to get his attention.“Yeah, thanks for helping me out.” Jason replied, shaking his head. “No problem. I don't even know what's wrong with them, I mean why would they just beat you?” She said, adding that last part with annoyance. Jason smiled a little. The girl smiled at him “I need to get going now or else I'll be late for my first class. I guess I'll see you around.” She waved and walked away. Jason stood a bit in shock. That happened so fast, he was still thinking about how he'd ask for her name.Jason brushed away the dust on
