Chapter 3: Path Of Prejudice

"What is going on here?" The school vice chancellor's voice bellowed.

The crowd parted and gave way for the campus security to pull Jason to his feet.

"He hit me." Jason said to the man, pointing a finger in Hudson's direction.

The Vice Chancellor moved to Hudson and nodded respectfully to him in greeting.

"You may leave now, Mr. Hudson. I am so sorry that something like this happened to you on school grounds. I apologize on behalf of myself and the school. I assure you that Jason here will not go unpunished for what he's done to you." The vice chancellor addressed Hudson, assuring him.

"Make sure you keep your scholarship students away from the ones that can actually afford this school. They need to learn their place." Hudson spat furiously.

Ridiculous, Jason thought. He wasn't a scholarship student, he paid his tuition himself!

"Of course, sir. I'll make sure that this incident never repeats itself. Once again, I apologize." The vice chancellor said with a grim look on his face.

Jason's chest heaved with exertion, as he ached all over.

"I didn't do anything. You know that." Jason shouted, as he was being dragged away.

Jason kicked his feet, and cursed, trying to get away.

"I'll personally see to his punishment, Mr. Hudson."

"Make sure that he suffers." Hudson said and stalked angrily towards his car, leaving Mia to trail after him.

The screech of his tyres were the last thing Jason heard before he was dragged all the way across the cafe's street and pushed into the vice chancellor's office.

"You can leave us now." The vice chancellor said to the security men who nodded in response and finally left them.

The vice chancellor sat behind his desk and stared at Jason before he finally spoke up.

"Jas…"

"I didn't start that. Ask anyone that was there and they will tell you." Jason cut in waving his hand around in frustration.

"I am going to start afresh and I really hope that you listen carefully." The vice chancellor said as he cut a glare in Jason's direction.

The man's thinning white hair was bald in the middle.

"But sir…" Jason began.

"Shut up!" He shouted and slammed his hand on his desk.

"Do you know who Hudson is?" He questioned.

"Or more accurately, do you know who his father is?!"

Jason took a moment, before shaking his head in the negative.

"His father is the biggest sponsor of our school. He built most of the buildings in this school. This office was built by him. Do you see the picture now, Jason? You had to go and lust after Hudson's girlfriend." He said as he glared daggers at Jason.

"She's not his girlfriend. Mia is my girlfriend. We've just been keeping our relationship a secret." Jason said.

"Is that right, then?" The vice chancellor asked him, folding his hands together and steepling them in front of his face.

"Yes.. that's what I was trying to explain to you earlier." Jason said in exasperation.

"If that girl were your girlfriend then why didn't she speak up, why did she stand there and let what happened, happen?" He asked a dumbfounded Jason.

"I don't care about what happened. What I care about is not losing this school's biggest and greatest sponsor, all because you can't get over a silly crush you have on his son's girlfriend."

"Have you no shame? The girl clearly did not want you."

"It's not…"

"I don't care what it is Jason." The vice chancellor cut him short and stood up, he walked to the window and saw some students peering in through the blinds. He shut the blinds to his office and turned around to face Jason.

"You are hereby suspended from school for at least a week until further notice. You have until you resume school to finish paying your tuition. I suggest you leave the premises now and have that broken nose looked at." The vice chancellor said.

Jason's jaw fell open and he stared at the man in shock. He opened his mouth to speak but couldn't find the right words.

"I have no other option. It is either that or you get expelled and that would cause many suspicions and I cannot allow that to happen." The vice chancellor concluded.

"I don't care what you do. Just stay off school property." The vice chancellor said to him and pushed his door open, a silent order for Jason to get out of his office.

Jason forced his feet to move and left the office.

"I wouldn't want you either, if I was Mia." Jason heard the vice chancellor say behind him.

He ignored him, but could hear whispers as he walked away.

He couldn't believe no one had asked for his side of the story.

No one wanted to know.

"That serves him right. What was he thinking going up against someone like Hudson?"

"He is a fool for doing what he did. He is lucky he got off with just suspension. I heard the last guy that raised a hand at Hudson was expelled and couldn't get into a school in the state. He had to move." Another voice said.

Jason went back to the coffee shop and took his backpack before heading for the school gate.

He stopped short on the sidewalk as a car which was driving on the road swerved to pack beside him.

Jason admired the black BMW with it's tinted windows and shiny exterior.

He moved to continue when the door suddenly opened and a man stepped out.

The strange man was dressed in one of the finest, most powerful looking suit Jason had ever seen.

It was black, and looked like a designer piece.

The man's expensive looking wristwatch gleamed in the afternoon sun, and flashed in Jason's face, blinding him momentarily.

Jason went to move past the man but he stopped him.

"Young master," the man said.

And then bowed low and respectfully before Jason.
