Jason stalked towards his grandmother, his hands shaking with rage. He held onto her shoulders and helped her to her feet.
"What the hell is going on here?' He demanded immediately. He could hardly restrain himself from punching Hudson out of respect for his grandmother."What does it look like, you fool? Your pathetic excuse of a grandmother, is begging me not to have you suspended so that you do not miss your exams. Tell me why I should listen to the old hag and pardon you." Hudson said, smugly stuffing his hands into his pockets with his chest puffed out."What do you mean she's begging you?" Jason asked almost exploding with anger. His hands fisted by his side's."Is that not right old woman? Now get on your knees and beg." Hudson kept his eyes on Jason's grandmother, arrogance ringing in his every word. He really believed everyone bowed to his pompous ass, and would always end up kissing his ass, one way or another."Is it true, grandmother?" Jason asked her incredulously, his brows pulling together. His eyes searched his grandmother for any wounds, and he only felt slightly mollified when he couldn't find any. "Jason…Jason I am only doing this to you. You know that we can't afford to pay double your tuition fees and dues, it is already hard enough with just this one." His grandmother replied sobbing and gripping onto his forarms. Jason's heart broke all over again at the sight of his grandmother crying, all because of Hudson."What are you waiting for?” Hudson's lips curved into a small smirk, as he waited for the gratifying moment when he bent his enemy and broke his will. “Kneel Jason. Kneel and beg me for forgiveness." Hudson said stepping towards him, his hands stuffed in his trouser pockets."Jason listen to him." His grandmother said and went to kneel only for Jason to hold onto her arm, stopping her. Mia threw her head back and giggled at the scene unfolding before her, her hands clapping excitedly.Jason stood stoically glaring at Hudson through hooded eyes. His blood was boiling with anger and rage. How dare Hudson make his grandmother beg? She was all he had left in this world and Hudson did this thing to her. He was fuming with anger barely keeping himself in check.Hudson arched a brow at him as if taunting Jason to take a swing at him.Jason took deep breaths to caml himself and not do what he truly wanted to do. Jason glanced over at his grandmother who was being comforted by the friend that called him.He glanced at Hudson and could see the hate for him and his grandmother behind his eyes.He knew the exact moment Hudson snapped because his nostrils flared wide as if he were a bull in a ring.Jason braced himself for Hudson's punch.Hudson managed to land a couple of punches on Jason but none was as bad as the upper cut Jason gave him that had blood spiling from his mouth.Jason was quite happy about this because it was just Hudson. No goons and no vice chancellor to stop him from beating Hudson to a pulp."Is that all you've got, Hudson?" Jason taunted him."I'm going to make you pay for that, you fucking bastard." Hudson groaned as spat out a mouth full of blood.Jason smiled, happy to see the fool suffer.Hudson growled a curse at him but Jason was a pro compared to Hudson's lame punches.Jason deflected every punch sent his way and took Hudson down with a few moves. He stopped when his grandmother came to him and attempted to pull him away from Hudson with tears running down her face. The sight of those tears made Jason want to beat Hudson all over again.Jason's friend Raymond rushed between the two guys, holding his arms out. “Stop it now, both of you!”Hudson staggered back, an infuriated and half afraid Mia holding him up. He looked worse for wear even more than before, but at least he was still breathing and standing with his own two feet.He stood and glared right at Jason who was pulling his grandmother close to his side."This is not what you wanted to do was it?" Hudson asked, directing his question to Jason's grandmother.“Oh my God. I don't know what came over him. Please, please forgive Jason. Please forgive me. Give us another chance." Jason's grandmother said to Hudson rubbing her palms together in a pleading gesture which Jason did not like one bit.Jason nursed his bruised face, breathing hard, his shirt stuck to his body and there were drops of blood from his bleeding nose staining his shirt. Annoyed at the ruined shirt, he took solace in the fact that Hudson's millions of dollars worth, designer clothes were damaged beyond repair and he was bleeding from both nostrils. Mia, the betraying bitch held a pink hanky to Hudson's nose, her cheeks red with frustration. She probably wasn't used to ever being on the losing side. "Tell your grandson that he will pay for my medical bills," Hudson managed to get out, pointing a dirty finger at the old woman. “Or I'll have him expelled and blacklisted. He'll never be able to get into another college here.”Terror raced through Jason's grandmothers body, and she nodded at him, opened her small purse, searching and grabbing the money in it frantically. Jason blinked and next thing she was rushing over to Hudson, and pushing crumpled dollar dollar bills into his hand.He rushed for his grandmother, but Raymond's strong arms wouldn't let him go. “Raymond, let me go!” He yelled like a caged animal. Hudson flinched away from the old woman, looking so disgusted at her, he ripped his hand away from her, and caused the old woman to fall away from him. He threw the money at her face and kicked dirt on her."Who do you think I am? You were actually handing me twenty dollar bills? Get over it old woman, you are a retched, poverty struck human being. You and your useless son altogether." Hudson spat on her and Jason saw red. He was going to kill him!“Jason, stop. He's not worth it!” Raymond shouted, but Jason wasn't listening to a word. If Hudson wasn't worth it, his grandmother was. No one was going to hurt her and get away with it.But Raymond's hold tightened and Jason fought like a caged animal. “He's not worth it, Jason” Raymond yelled, knowing that if this went any further there would be hell to pay. "Let me go. Let go of me!" Jason growled, his entire body sprung with tension and readiness."If you had begged like I told you to, this would all be over, but I can see that you and your grandson are not remorseful for what you have done." Hudson said to Jason's grandmother, ignoring Jason completely. He took his phone out of his pocket, clicking on it before putting the phone to his ear."What are you doing?" Jason's grandmother asked him fearfully, getting up to her knees."What does it look like to you, you stupid old hag. I am calling the director, he'll see to it that your useless piece of shit son or grandson, whatever the fuck he is, is expelled." Hudson said with a voice filled with hatred and contempt and Mia smirked at that. "Please do not. We'll do whatever you want. I beg you sir please " Jason's grandmother pleaded and the mere sight of it made Jason really pissed.Hudson spoke into the phone and disconnected the phone. He wiped gingerly at the bruise forming on his forehead. Jason's grandmother went to grab his elbow in an attempt to beg him but Hudson took a step away from her and at the same time pushed her away and she landed on the floor with a very obvious twist in her ankle.Jason looked as if it were in slow motion before he charged at Hudson. No one was going to stop him right now. He was going to make sure that when he was done with him, he would be unrecognizable. He shoved at Raymond, dislodging his grip on him and charged towards Hudson with the intention to kill.He drew his hand out and landed a punch on his face and an audible crack was heard. He threw him to the floor and prepared to punch his face in when the small crowd gathered around them slowly parted for the school director who came to a stop before them, taking in the scene. Hudson lay defenseless on the floor, as Jason straddled him, his first raised to deliver a punch.Jason paused and glanced up when he noticed that people were stepping away from him and Hudson. He sat on the whimpering Hudson's chest, his bloodied fist about to demolish what was left of the dumb fucks face. One look at the school director standing over them made him breathe, finally the haze cleared and he could hear his grandmother crying. Hudson used the distraction and shoved Jason away from him and quickly standing and stumbling on his feet before going to where Mia was standing. She quickly flung herself into Hudson who wrapped his arm around her.Jason's grandmother ran to Jason, hitting his upper left arm with her tiny purse. “I told you not to do it, I told you!”Jason pushed himself up and stood before the director whose face was red with anger. His bald head beamed in the harsh sunlight. "What happened here?" He demanded, surveying both Hudson and Jason. He faced Hudson, giving Jason his back. "Your pathetic, poverty stricken, scholarship student hit me!" Hudson's wo
Laughter rang out in all directions as the whole school mocked Jason. The director chuckled, “What a hilarious young man.”Jason's grandmother couldn't stand it anymore. She dragged him to the side, trying to find a little privacy to speak to him, try and dissuade him and get him back to his right senses, but avid eyes followed them everywhere. Her grip on his wrist tightened and she simply lowered her voice to an urgent whisper. “Jason, my little boy, I know how hard this is for you. They always treat us poor people like dirt. I have grown so used to it, but now I can see that being poor makes things so hard for you everywhere you go.”She swallowed, eyes brimming with unshed tears. The people who could hear bits of what she was saying strained to hear more. “This boy, Jason, he's even worse than anything we've ever encountered. Jason, he has no soul and no sympathy for the likes of us. Please, let's just stop this madness and go home.”Jason was already shaking his head before hi
Cold sweat broke out on Jason's forehead as he glanced up from the POS system’s screen. What the fuck was happening?“Transfer failed? What do they mean 'transfer failed’?” He asks the director, wide eyed, while Hudson triumphantly went to tell his fans what had happened. The director arched an eyebrow, as if to say he wasn't surprised. “Young man, you don't have the money in your bank account. How can you possibly transfer such a large amount of money when you don't have it?”The director who looked annoyed with Jason shoved the black card back into Jason's hanging hand, his face red with anger. "You dare to waste my time, boy, stand us all out here to play your fantasy games."Hudson's gloating voice reached Jason's ears. “Damn fucker doesn't have a dime. He's finally gone full crazy!”Jason ran his bruised hands over his face in disbelief. “No…no, something's wrong. It's supposed to pay, I know.”“Conniving bastard. You're a low life, Jason, accept your true place in life and pull
Hudson looked at Jason with eyes as wide as saucers like he had grown another head in a second."You must be out of your fucking mind if you think that I am going to strip and run before the whole lot of you miserable fools." Hudson said to Jason."Jason, I think it would be best if you both came with me to my office. There we can resolve this whole issue amicably without any need of humiliating anyone." The director said, ready to cover up for Hudson. He was secretly hoping he could keep Jason's money and equally salvage the situation so he didn't lose the mayor in this youthful exuberance of Hudson's. But Jason point blank refused to even be persuaded. He shook his head in disagreement."That was not the deal Hudson and I made. I know it, he knows it, you know it. Everyone here knows that. Why does he get away without fulfilling his end of the deal?" Jason hollered at the director. The director walked closer to Jason and spoke to him in a whisper."He's not getting away with anythi
Hudson's eyes dilated in terror as Anna began to count."Wh… what the hell are you doing?" Hudson asked her but Anna ignored the question.Jason stood behind Anna with a grin pulling at his lips."Seven…six..five.." Anna continued. The bodyguards behind them started forward, when Anna hit the fifth count, going straight for Hudson. They were ready to tear him to pieces."Call them off. Call off your goons, you Idiot." Mia screamed at Anna."Three…two…" Anna continued."Okay!" Hudson screamed.Anna tilted her head at him."Okay what?" She asked him."I will do it." Hudson replied."Do what?" Anna asked again."I'll…I'll do it. I'll strip.' He said with tears brimming in his eyes."And?" Anna queried with a satisfied smirk."I'll strip and run." He whispered."What? Hudson you can't do that. You can't be serious." Mia shouted at him."Shut up!" He hissed at her."Alright then. Get on with it." Anna ordered him.The crowd inched closer as many of them took out their cellphones and began
Jason glanced back and forth between Anna and the director. The director had agreed to expel Hudson after hearing whatever it was that Anna told him.Jason went to ask Anna what it was but she anticipated it and shook her head, silencing him.Hudson finished his laps and red faced with shame, returned for his clothes. He walked towards them, all the while glaring at them. His face was red with embarrassment, and his naked skin glistened with sweat. His almighty shoulders were hunched over in shame and humiliation even though pride kept his expression tight with hate. He was covered in mud which was normal considering he had fallen two or three times during his run. His boxers were drenched with his sweat, and Anna noticed that almost immediately."Hudson, did you pee yourself during the run?" She asked him, amusement filling her features as her lips tugged into a smile. The students around them did not hesitate to continue recording, some were even streaming live, and giving a detai
Jason saw red. This was not the first time that John had extorted money from his grandparents. One time, when Jason had started college, he stole his tuition fees and made away with it.Jason had to work with his grandmother at a company as a janitor, eating insults for food daily. There was a time he got slapped just because the detergent he used did not have the right fragrance. If his wicked uncle stole from them and used it to do worthwhile things, it would be a different story. His uncle came home pleading for forgiveness a month later and of course his soft grandparents forgave their child. This time he would make sure that it would be the last time that John ever came back here for anything.Jason took several breaths to calm himself."Don't worry about the bruise, Jason. I told you, I'll be fine before you know it." His grandfather said.Jason stared at his grandparents knowing fully well that if he did not do something about the situation, that John would most likely come
The man's brows raised at that.He looked at Jason, not bothering to hide the fact that he was sizing him up. His eyes wandered from the cheap jacket Jason was wearing to the cheaper sneakers he was also wearing. He scoffed at Jason before asking him."And if I tell you how much?" "I'll pay you in full." Jason replied, barely holding back."You? You can't even buy yourself decent shoes and you want to pay off a debt." The man replied with a scoff."I can pay you. I assure you." Jason said, ignoring the insult."Please, don't pay him any attention. Does he look like someone that has a job? He doesn't have the means to pay you. Ignore him." His grandfather told the man pulling his wife close to his side.He dabbed away the blood dripping down her face with a handkerchief he took out of his pocket."Jason get back inside and let me take care of this. You are only a child. You don't know what you are talking about." He scolded Jason and tried to pull him away and push him inside but Jaso
“That's brutal. I thought trust funds were to help start, I don't know, companies or at least a small business. What will he do when he graduates?” Jason replied.“Eh. He'll survive. Besides, he should have thought of all that before beating you up.” Barbie replied.Jason nodded, what'd he know about trust funds anyway? Barbie was also right he should have given it thought if he knew what would happen to him if he got suspended. They sat in the third row just as two other girls approached them.“Hey Stacey!” Barbie smiled and waved at one of them.“Hey…” The girl started but then frowned when she saw Jason seated beside Barbie.“Ugh, could this place get any more pungent?” The second girl said wrinkling her nose and sent Jason a glare.“I know right? It smells like poverty “ Stacey replied and they both left giggling.Barbie looked away from Jason.Jason drummed his fingers on the desk as they both sat in awkward silence.“I can leave if you want me to, seeing as you're all bothered a
Steven got out of the car next after Mathew and Jason couldn't help as his mouth hung open.“Jason, are you even listening to me?” Barbie asked with a pout which drew Jason's attention back to her. “Yeah, I'm sorry but can I ask you something?”“Yeah, of course you can.” “Has that always been Mathew's car? Like is this the one he's always been driving?” Jason questioned.“Well that's a random question.” Barbie commented.“Barbie….”“Yeah, that's his car. He got it early this year when the semester started.” Barbie replied.“Are you sure?” Jason asked her.“Yeah, is something wrong?” Barbie asked.“That car tried to hit me on Monday.” Jason told her.Barbie's eyes widened like saucers.“Are you sure?” She asked.“Yeah, it was after I walked you to your car, pretty much everyone was gone. It tried to knock me down. It almost did.” “Oh my God, Mathew!” Barbie shouted marching at him.“Barbie, don't!” Jason hissed, pulling her back.“Why not? He could have killed you!” She shouted, her
The sudden roaring in his ears made him think he hadn't heard Robert correctly. He obviously misheard, that was the only explanation for what he'd heard.“Jason?” Anna called out.“Um yeah, sorry. I'm just… I thought you said you'd found a wife for me but clearly there is something wrong with my hearing.” Jason said, laughing.“Jason, this isn't a joke.” Robert said seriously, his white face straightened with a little censure at Jason.Jason nodded his head “What do you mean you've found a wife for me. I didn't tell you I was searching for one.” He snapped.“I've arranged a marriage between you and the daughter of a friend of mine.” Robert went on ignoring Jason.“But why would you do that?” Jason all but screamed.“Jason! Control yourself.” Anna chided him.“I'm twenty three years old. I don't want to get married.”“You won't get married now. You'll marry when you're ready to take over.” Robert said, steepling his fingers together in front of him. Jason dropped his cutlery with a
“I believe I asked a question.” Robert said, walking forward.“M… M… Mr. Charleston, I am so terribly sorry for all this. A staff of ours has made a grave mistake, I was only reprimanding him. I didn't know that the noise disturbed you.” The manager stammered.Anna stood closely behind him, her eyes spitting fire at the restaurant manager. All eyes were now watching them, no one bothered to hide as they took it all in.Robert seemed to mutter something under his breath before he finally spoke.“Who is this negligent staff that has caused this?” “This is him, sir.” The manager replied pointing a finger at Jason. “That is my business associate.” Robert stated. “W…what?!” The manager stuttered. The receptionist quickly hurried over to him and whispered something. The manager's eyes widened in shock, as he immediately started to beg forgiveness.“Forgive me, Master Charleston, I didn't know he was an associate of yours.” The manager said bowing deeply from the waist. The other restaur
Jason stared in shock as the car pulled away from the curb and sped away.He was utterly speechless. Was the car stalking him? Who was the driver and what did he want with him?His thoughts ran wild as he watched the car disappear down the road. “Move it, some of us want to get home.” A voice said as he was shoved from behind. Jason realized that he was blocking the road on the busy sidewalk and immediately walked to the side.He glanced at his phone and saw that it was already six o'clock. He had roughly one hour to get home, change out of his clothes and head over to the Charleston manor for dinner. He made his way down the sidewalk as he blended in with the throngs of people who were going back to their homes. He noticed the looks people gave him as he walked along. He didn't blame them, if it were someone else he knew he'd probably cross over to the other side of the road.Jason got home later than usual, his time running out more and more. He had a quick shower and changed int
Jason blinked twice to make sure he was seeing correctly. He hadn't received a single message from them all through the weekend and now a summon to dinner? He sighed in resignation knowing that he had no say in the matter and quickly set an alarm to remind him or else he would forget all about it.“Jackson!” Jerry called from his office.Jason swallowed his annoyance at the name. He had already corrected Jerry quietly, that his name was Jason and not Jackson but Jerry didn't want to know.He stood from his desk and made his way to Jerry's office. He knocked once before walking in.He saw Steven seated opposite Jerry doing nothing.“You called for me, sir?” Jason asked as he stood in front of them.“Yeah. Steven here is hungry I want you to take this and get him takeout from that Mexican place down the block.” Jerry said placing some money on his desk.Jason almost laughed. Get Steven his food? “Sir, can't Steven get his own lunch?” Jason asked. “Steven is the son of the owner of the
Jason coughed at the sudden question. Obviously, money actually mattered to the princess that was standing beside him.“Are you ok?” Barbie asked with concern when he finally stopped coughing.“Um.. yeah. I am.” Jason replied bwuth a tight smile.“Ok. I have to go now.” Barbie said.“Already?” Jason asked with a playful pout. “Yeah. I have a family thing that I have to be at.” Barbie replied.Jason nodded at her reply. He was grateful that the conversation had steered away from his carless situation to somthing else.Barbie dug a hand into her purse and it came out carrying a key fob.She pressed a key on it and the car unlocked.“I guess I'll see you later, Jason.” She said walking to the car door.“Yeah. Definitely.” He replied with a smile.Barbie got into the car and reversed out of her parking space, she waved at Jason from her window before she drove off.Jason waited and watched as her car disappeared from view before he turned and made his way to the school's main entrance wh
Jason trailed after Barbie like a lost puppy as she led him back to the burger shop. They got to the shop and thankfully, most students had already left for their next class or done with lectures for the day. Barbie walked to the counter while Jason scored them an empty table that was close to the window. It hadn't escaped Jason that people were looking at them weirdly when they were walking to the burger shop but he wouldn't let that put him down. He was determined to get Barbie's number and no side eye was going to stop him from getting it.Barbie returned carrying two plates with burger and fries and two cans of soda. “I don't think I had fries in my ruined lunch.” Jason said as he stood up and pulled out the seat for her. “You don't like fries? I'm so sorry, I can't have burgers without fries. I guess I should have asked you first.” She replied with a tense smile. It was obvious that they were both trying to impress each other.“It's okay, I like fries.” Jason replied, pushing
The girl giggled which made Jason realize that he'd said that out loud. He raised himself up with little difficulty and stood in front of the girl, heat creeping up to his face.“Are you ok?” The girl asked a bit tentatively. It was as if Jason wasn't paying attention to anything she was saying. He was busy taking in her beautiful, long, curly blonde hair. She had the prettiest hazel eyes and was considerably average.“Hey!” She screamed in face trying to get his attention.“Yeah, thanks for helping me out.” Jason replied, shaking his head. “No problem. I don't even know what's wrong with them, I mean why would they just beat you?” She said, adding that last part with annoyance. Jason smiled a little. The girl smiled at him “I need to get going now or else I'll be late for my first class. I guess I'll see you around.” She waved and walked away. Jason stood a bit in shock. That happened so fast, he was still thinking about how he'd ask for her name.Jason brushed away the dust on
