Business First

"Are you deaf too?! Didn't you hear me?!" Vic growled

He felt like he was abusing a dog and wanted to hear the dog yelp and scurry away frightened. However, Jonah did not say anything, he took slow sips of his drink ignoring Vic completely.

Jonah's reaction only proved to Vic that he was the loser he thought him to be, so he increased the cockiness in his tone and sneered

"I'm going to make sure you know your place today. You'll soon know the price you pay for being so arrogant and cocky. You're just a lowly live-in son-in-law, a pathetic fool who is desperately pretending so he can delude himself that his pathetic life has some meaning.

You're nothing, Jonah! I know it, your wife knows it, everyone knows it! How dare you act like you're above me. You're better off scavenging in the streets for trash" Vic growled with a layer of infuriating rage

At that point, Nathan Lane, the head of the Lane family and CEO of the multibillion Lane Construction Company, cleared his throat interrupting Vic

Vic stopped suddenly. He had been so infuriated that he did not notice his uncle and the other family's heads glaring at him. His eyes widened in shock as if he had been struck by lighting

Horrified by their contemptuous glare, he wanted to leave but a man's charismatic voice suddenly echoed across the room

The glare on his face was filled with wrath. When Vic saw his uncle, blood drained off his face, and his eyes filled with horror

Morgan Francis snorted coldly approaching Vic "You little bastard, how dare you barge in here and offend Mr. Smith?! Do you wish to die, you stupid ingrate?! You're an embarrassment to this family name!"

Vic was so afraid; he had never seen his uncle that agitated and could only wonder why he was so angry over a loser like Jonah. However, he immediately started begging, whining regrettably

"No, uncle, that's not what I meant. It's just that this man does not belong here. He's a miserable loser who can't even afford to take care of his wife like a real man should. How could you allow this pathetic fool in here? He's a nobody"

Upon hearing those words, Morgan swung his arm across Vic's face and growled in dismay "Get out!"

Vic was extremely scared and stunned, he held his cheek in shock, nursing the pain

"Hurry and get out of here! If you dare make a scene, I'll break you in half" Morgan growled with a cold expression, and just then the doors opened and the lobby security guards entered the room

Morgan turned to the security guards and said "Kick this fool out of here!"

Vic was forcibly escorted out of the top floor and shoved into the elevator, kicking him down to the ground floor

As the elevator descended to the ground floor, Jonah's face flashed in his mind, and a sudden thought occurred to him.

'Does that loser Jonah have anything to do with Grindel Enterprise?'

The more he thought about it, the more infuriated and resentful he became towards Jonah.

As he pondered the situation again, Vic realized that it might have indeed had something to do with Jonah, but then he quickly shook his head and waved the thought

'No, it can't be. He's just a loser and is not even qualified to clean toilets' he huffed

Inside the dining hall on the top floor, Morgan Francis heaved a regretful sigh as he approached the table

"I'm so sorry for my nephew's behavior Mr Smith. I will make sure he gets the punishment he deserves, and hopefully, he can learn a lesson about the price he has to pay for offending you"

Jonah frowned indignantly. He had spent his days as the live-in son-in-law of the Smith family having to tolerate overpompous egotistic bastards like Vic, but now things were going to change.

He was about to speak when suddenly a call entered his phone.

"Hello, Mr Smith?" She asked politely

"Ms. Lowe, this is Jonah Smith", Jonah replied flatly

"I apologize for the delay, but I'll be flying in shortly Mr Smith," she said apologetically

The woman calling was Janet Lowe, the manager of Grindel Enterprise.

She had earned her reputation as a renowned businesswoman. Not only was she charming and respectful, but she was extremely capable of managing the business while Jonah was away, hugely impacting the success of the Enterprise today.

Besides her adept skills in the company, she was also very skilled in martial arts and ventured into the world of gambling, with a no-loss record.

Janet was born and grew up in Slovenia. Her father was best friends with Jonah's father for years, and after their disappearance, she took over the management of Grindel Enterprise, together with the VP Jerry Paul, until a year ago when Jonah resurfaced and took over the affairs of the company

As Jonah ended the call, Nathan stood up and approached Jonah together with Benson Wilson, head of the Wilson family.

They tried to make efforts to defuse the tension that Vic had caused. His company, stood to benefit from this collaboration as well if Jonah agreed to award the deal to Morgan Francis’ company

Hence, he said warmly, pulling out a Marlboro cigarette "Can I interest you in a fine cigarette Mr Smith? I feel there's been much tension, so we can cool our jets over smoke and talk business over"

"No, thank you," Jonah said

"I only smoke Dorchester" he quickly added

"We'll smoke with you," they said enthusiastically

Jonah pulled out his cigarette from his coat and handed it to them,

"I hope Francis' boy will not ruin our collaboration, Mr Smith" Benson abruptly said

"He's just as pompous as that George from the Smith family", Nathan said and quickly placed his palm on his chest, "I say that with all due respect"

Jonah took a drag of his cigarette and said "You're right, the lot of them are arrogant proud bastards",

"Imagine that Morraine's audacity to show up at the Mayor's party acting like she owns the place. Doesn't she know her place?"

"She's just as blank as her entire family” Benson replied

At that point, Jonah clenched his fist in anger. They were all right. He couldn't believe he had come here to hand deliver the deal to the Smith family. Those lowly bastards did not deserve anything anymore from him and with that flowing in his mind, he quickly blurted

"Gentlemen, I believe it's time for us to discuss business"
