CHAPTER HUNDRED AND EIGHT Maria had left and it was just Jake and Kate in their room. He sat on one of the couches deep in thought while she sat at the edge of the bed, cautiously observing him. He had been acting weird since he returned and she had wanted to ask if something was wrong but she couldn't muster the courage to do so. She tried to remember if she had offended him in any way before he left, but she couldn't come up with anything. They were cool before his disappearance and now, he was acting all cold and it troubled her. On the other hand, Jake was patiently waiting for Kate to fall asleep so he could call his mum to ask about any new developments. They were on tenterhooks as they were sure that Mario's accomplices would likely retaliate if they found out he had been kidnapped. He didn't want to leave his mum alone in the middle of all this, but Maria and Kate were close to finding out his location and the only way to stop them would be to show his face to them, s
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND NINE Owen sat on one of the couches in the sitting room as he waited for Tamara to come in. He had asked one of the guards to ask the others to let her in and for about twenty minutes he had been waiting but there was no sign of her. He shook his head in exasperation as he got up from the couch and headed to the door. Halfway to the door, he heard noise outside the house and he sighed. He placed a call to his head guard and the man picked up almost immediately. It seemed as if he had been waiting for his call. “Greetings boss” the man greeted “What's going on at the gate?” Owen asked, not caring to return his greeting “Uhmm it's the woman at the gate, she's refusing to go in without her guards and I've told her countlessly that she can't go in with all those armed men” the man replied and Owen let out a deep breath. With the way she came with all those men, he already knew something was wrong. The fact that she was requesting to talk to him only
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TEN Mario opened his eyes with a groan as he was not surprised to see himself in a totally different room. He remembered the guards come in and that was the last thing he could recall. He tried to move his hands with the feeling that it might have been tied up but he was surprised to see that it wasn't. He took a look around the room he was in, and it looked a little bit familiar to him. He tried to recall when he came here, but his brain failed him. He looked out the window and he could see that the house was situated in the middle of the woods, more like middle of nowhere. It was a two storey building, probably an abandoned house. He stood up from the floor as he made his way to the door. He twisted the doorknob and the door became ajar. He wrinkled his brows as he didn't understand what sort of game they were playing with him. He went back into the room and looked for a sharp object to take with him. He saw a screwdriver by the side of the bed a
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND ELEVEN Mario opened his eyes to see where he was in, but he couldn't see much as the place was dark. He tried to stand up but he felt severe pains on the side of his head and he winced as he touched the affected side of his head. He felt the moistness on his fingers and since he couldn't really see, he brought it to his nose and took a sniff. It was blood, lots of it on the side of his head. He tried to recall what had happened ***Few hours ago*** Jake walked into the room where Mario had been tied up by the guards, Mario sneered when he saw him. “I said I wanted to speak with the master, not the master's cub” Mario said and Jake chuckled “Yeah, I heard. But the master is kinda busy with a little bit of arrangement at the moment, so you'd just have to make do with the cub, your Majesty” Jake said mockingly. “Arrangements? What arrangements?” Mario
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWELVEWell, the thing is I'm getting older and you know the older we get, the more boring life becomes. So I kinda need something to keep me busy, something exciting. And what would be more exciting than toying with the son of the woman who destroyed my marriage?” She said again, this time chuckling at the end of her statement. “No one destroyed your marriage Danny, you destroyed it yourself” Gabriel thundered. “Well, we’ll see about that” when she said this, Gabriel cocked his brow at her “What do you mean by that?” He asked “You know, his mum was a believer. So how about we do this? If her hand was pure, then her God would save her son from my wrath. And if it wasn't, I don't need to explain the terms to you” she said with a smirk “I won't let you harm him. I would tell him about the spy you put on him” Gabriel said and she burst into villainous laughter
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTEEN Mario had made it to the base, not knowing he was being followed. He looked at the camera at the gate and his face was scanned before he was let in. As soon as the gate opened, he was surprised to see the others all dressed and ready for war. It seemed they were going somewhere. They were all surprised to see him too, especially with the state he was in. One of them ran to him, probably the only person who liked him in the whole group. “You're back” he heard her say and Mario nodded his head. He didn't have the strength to talk, not after everything. He had thought he would end up stranded, seeing as the money he had on him was little but here he was, happy and grateful but anxious too. “Is the boss around?” He asked and she nodded her head in affirmation. “Take me to her” Mario said and he could see that she was shocked. “But …” she tried to protest but Mario cut her short “No buts. Take me to her Now” he said with a time of fina
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FOURTEENHe looked down to see the shattered ceramic cup and his blood that had stained several parts of it. Blood dripped down his forehead down to his nose as it stained the ground he was standing on. He kept his head bowed, as he didn't want to be disrespectful. She was already angry at him, so anything he said or do would only make her angrier. He couldn't risk that. “How was the mission?” She asked but he didn't say a word. He kept quiet and she knew what silence meant. In a business like theirs, silence signified failure and failure is met with severe punishment. “You failed” she chuckled as if she didn't already know. She just wanted to hear him say it and he was not going to give her that satisfaction. “Even after all my motivations, my patience with you” she paused for a while “Even after all my warnings” she yelled as she threw a book on the table towards him and the book met with his abdomen but he didn't move. “And don't just keep qu
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN She held his chin in her hand as she raised his head up to her level. “Now, let me make this clear to you, I'll let this slide, just this once because I am in a very good mood. But I assure you, the next time something like this happens, you won't live to tell the tale. This should serve as a lesson for the others.” She stood up and was on her way out when she paused and he almost cursed out “Clean up and guard up, we have somewhere to be” she said as she walked out of the office. A few minutes later, two guards walked into the room, probably to come clean up the mess they had created and he took that as his cur to use the door. Using the last of his strength, he got up from the floor and slowly made his way to the door, his whole body aching. Imagine going through punishment for three days straight. Using the walls as support, he slowly made his way to his room and he was not surprised to see Kylie there, her eyes were red and swolle
