CHAPTER SIXTEEN Owen had just gotten home and he was kinda tired. He had to admit tho, he missed all this. The early morning coffee, the stamping and signings and the occasional roundups of the top deals. He opened the door with his fingerprint and as soon as he walked into the building, he sighed. The whole place was quiet and kinda empty. He massaged his left shoulder with his right hand and did the same with the other but he felt no relief. He was fuc*ing tired. He had just slumped into the couch when he heard the doorbell ring. He was kinda suprised because it was late already. He stared at the clock on the wall and the time was five minutes past eleven. Heck, he didn’t know that it was this late, he had been so busy that he lost track of time. The doorbell rang again and this time, he furrowed his brows. He stood up from the couch carefully and tiptoed to the door. He peeped from the peephole and he saw that it was none other than Mia. He stared for a while, trying to asce
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN Tamara had been concerned about the partnership with Echelon. Ever since the day she signed the contract, she had been on tenter hooks. She felt he was trying to play some sick game but she couldn’t counter his attacks when she didn’t even know what the game was. She felt disturbed with the fact that Owen had chosen his two enemies out of all the eligible candidates. She knew that Owen still had her in mind so it came as a surprise to her when he choosed her company for the partnership. She had thought that he would refuse her contract immediately but he ended up accepting it. She was well aware that their companies were not the ones with the best deals but he had accepted theirs anyways. She was also surprised with the fact that he was the CEO of Echelon. She remembered clearly when she had collected the company from Owen after his father, her husband’s death. He had been devastated, depressed even. It felt as though his whole life had been collected

He staggered as he looked for somewhere to place his hand on. Tamara saw her son break down and she wept within her. All her life, Daniel had been her inspiration, her motivation and her love for him was beyond comprehension. It hurt her that she couldn’t do anything to soothe his pain at this moment and she could only watch and hope for him to regain himself. She had collected the company from Owen just to make Daniel happy and for some time now, he had been a lot better. It hurt her to see him like this. Daniel had a lot going through his mind. He had thought that Owen had nothing else. He thought that he had won against Owen when the company was collected from him. But it seemed like Owen came back stronger and this made him angrier. “And you were not planning to inform me about it right?” Daniel
CHAPTER NINETEEN It tasted good she had to admit. She didn’t know that Owen was a good cook. But somehow, she felt like he had made the food for her and she appreciated it. She had not eaten since yesterday and she was very hungry. Owen saw that she liked it even without her saying anything so he adde more to the plate. Mia took a seat close to the counter and dug into the food without a second thought. She ate until she was full and Owen took a bottle of water from the fridge and handed it to her as she downed it in one go. Mia opted to do the dishes but Owen blatantly refused so she just watched with him while he washed them, with some silly jokes in between. In no time, Owen was through with the dishes and they had to go back to the living room. Mia walked in front while Owen walked behind her. They sat in silence for a while, each person to their thoughts even though they had a lot in mind to say to the other. Owen was thinking of a way to ask her to work for him without sou

If not for the fact that the car was bulletproof, then the glasses would have shattered by now. He was already driving above 120 as it stands and he couldn’t increase the speed further. They rained more bullets on his car and from the rear view mirror, he could see that another vehicle had joined and they were now two in number. He was about to make the final corner into his street when his phone tang and he saw that the caller was Mia. “Perfect timing” he mused before picking the call. But he knew that Mia’s room was just a room from his and if they couldn’t get a hold of him, they would not think twice about having those ones killed.
