CHAPTER FIVE: THE CREEK’S INHERITANCE.

While the two women and one man were publicly humiliating Miles, a sharp-looking middle-aged woman got out of one of the 'VIP only' elevators and walked towards the male receptionist to whom Miles had shown the unique card. They whispered back and forth for a brief moment before the secretary's gaze turned to the group of laughing women and the man with a stoic face.

Fiona was the first to notice the secretary’s presence and she immediately called her daughter’s attention. “Lesley, look! Someone from the CEO’s floor is here.” She tried to be as outwardly calm as possible while her heart began racing.

“Oh my goodness! They must have reconsidered your business proposal and sent her here to inform us.” Lesley turned to Lucas. “Your father’s influence must have worked after all. I’m so glad we brought you with us.”

Lucas smoothed his hair with a prideful smirk. “I told you.”

Miles followed his in-laws’ gazes to find who they were looking at. He quickly recognized the sharp-looking female as the CEO’s secretary.

Unknown to his in-laws, the CEO they were deeply fawning over was actually his family's butler, Donald Dean. With the reputation and overall power of the Creek family, they had long decided to plant their trusted butler as the visible face of their business empire while the real owners take charge of things in the shadows. The only people who knew of the Creek family were those in the top 1% of the world population.

Fiona and Lesley quickly adjusted their outfits as the secretary began walking towards them. Fiona stretched out her hand as the secretary got close, only to be left hanging as the sharp-looking woman walked past her with no acknowledgment. But this wasn't as embarrassing as finding out who the woman had ignored her for.

The secretary stood before Miles with a warm smile. “Mr. Miles. I hope you’re having a wonderful day?” She took on a slightly subservient demeanor as she spoke to Miles. “The CEO has been waiting for you all day. He had even cleared his entire schedule so he would be available whenever you showed up.”

“Hello to you too, Secretary Julia.” Miles sent the secretary a warm smile. “He shouldn’t worry; I don’t plan on wasting his time.”

At this point, it is an absolute understatement to say that Fiona, Lesley, and even Lucas were too stunned to speak. This was a scenario they could have never imagined, in a million years, would play out in real life. The CEO’s secretary wasn’t just talking to the useless man they had for a son-in-law, she was being very amiable with him as well, like she was talking to a friendly senior of hers.

“Mom, what the hell is this?” Lesley moved right behind her mother as she whispered with stunned eyes. “Are you seeing what I’m seeing?”

Fiona Blaine could only nod dumbly. “Why is the secretary talking to this scum like he matters?”

Meanwhile, Miles and Secretary Julia chatted away while ignoring the presence of the three women.

“Alright, let’s get you to him before he tears off my head for delaying your meeting.” Secretary Julia was referring to the CEO as she led Miles towards the ‘VIP only’ elevators and they got in.

Fiona, Lesley, and Lucas were simply left standing in the foyer as they couldn't shake off the shock from what they had just seen.

Meanwhile, the secretary led Miles to the highest floor and they went straight to the CEO’s office. With a knock, the two entered.

“I’ve brought Mr. Miles to see you, Boss.” The secretary quickly informed the old man sitting behind the large mahogany desk.

The old man nodded his head before getting up from his seat and adjusting his suit. “Thank you, Julia. You may leave.”

Julia nodded and glanced at Miles one last time. “Welcome back, Young Master Creek. You have been terribly missed.” She winked and left the office.

“Please, sit down, Young Master Miles.” The old man suddenly turned subservient as he walked towards Miles before leading him towards the couch by the side.

Once they were seated, the butler gently pulled Miles into a warm hug. “Young Master, you truly have been missed, greatly.”

Miles smiled softly as he returned the hug. "Not gonna lie, I've missed you guys as well, but that's not what I'm here for. You said you wanted to see me."

“Oh, right!” The old man got back up and went to retrieve a file from the large desk. “I need you to sign this. Once you do, I will hand over the $300,000 to you.”

Miles frowned once he saw the file. "Butler Dorian, why must I sign the family's inheritance contract before you help me?"
