CHAPTER SIX: INSULTED BY THE WIFE.

“Young Master, it is your duty as the best candidate in the family to carry on the empire’s legacy.” Butler Dorian replied immediately. “I know you left the family after the horrible death of your mother, but you need to understand that your father is not the culprit here. It is unfair for you to keep punishing him for this.”

“It doesn’t matter however you put it, Dorian. My father is still somehow involved in the death of my mother, and for that, I don’t want anything to do with him.” Miles retorted heatedly.

Dorian took in a deep breath. “Young Master Miles, I am in no position to tell you what to do.” He sat back down on the couch and he extended the inheritance contract file in his hands to the young man. “But you need to realize that your father is not the only one in the creek family. Refusing to do your rightful duty means you’re also throwing away decades of efforts and achievements.”

Miles could only huff in silence as he turned his gaze away. He saw reason in what the old man was telling him. "Fine, I'll do it. Besides, I need that money for my daughter."

Nothing more needed to be said. Miles collected the file and with a special pen, he read through the contract before signing in the appropriate places. Once he was done, his true status became official.

“Congratulations, Young Master! You’re now the sole heir of the Creek’s business empire!”

Miles couldn’t reciprocate Dorian’s celebratory mood. “The $300,000 cash; I need it now.”

Half an hour later, Miles had exited the headquarters building. He had taken another exit to avoid his in-laws as he knew he would be bombarded with questions once they saw him. He happily looked down at the briefcase in his hand, filled with the exact amount he needed for his daughter's medical bills. He soon got into a cab and went straight back to the hospital.

He later arrived there only to find his wife and her superior, Edmund Porsche, in a very intimate hug right outside their daughter's patient room. Miles fumed with anger while watching from the distance as Edmund's hands roamed around Lola's body while his face slowly crept closer to the crook of her neck. What was even more shocking was the fact that Lola looked like she was enjoying the physical intimacy.

“What the hell are you doing with my wife, you shameless bastard!” Miles roared as he rushed over and yanked Edmund away from Lola. He grabbed the Sales Director by the collar of his shirt as he glared hatefully at him. “Didn’t I make it clear that you’re not welcome here?”

“Oh my god, Miles! Have you lost your mind?! What do you think you’re doing to Mr. Porsche?!” Lola looked at Miles with a horrified expression mixed with anger. “Let go of him right now!”

“Lola!” Miles glared in shock at his wife. “You’re still defending him, after what I just witnessed you two doing right in front of Kelsey’s med bay?!”

"I'm afraid you've misunderstood, Mr. Creek," Edmund spoke with calmness despite the rough position he was in. "Your wife was simply showing her gratitude for paying the $300,000 medical bill for sweet Kelsey."

“I thought I made it clear that I’ll be paying my daughter’s bill.” He stared at his wife with a hurt expression. “So how could you accept his help?”

"How could I not, Miles?!" Lola yelled at her husband with a sneer. "My daughter has been sick for years. She can't live a normal life because you as her father have failed terribly to provide her with the security she needed! Miles, you're a broke-ass man who has failed to fulfill his duties. Mr. Porsche has decided to help us through these challenging times and yet, look at how you're treating him for it!"

Miles let go of Edmund’s collar as he turned to his wife with a soft gaze. “But my love, I have the money with me.” He opened the case and showed the cash arranged inside. This greatly shocked Lola.

Miles then shoved the briefcase at the sales director. “You may have everyone fooled but I know you’re nothing but a filthy and lustful snake trying to get with my wife, but I’ll never allow it to happen.” He grabbed the man by the shirt again and dragged him towards the elevator. “Now, get lost.”

Edmund is shoved into the elevator, but he quickly grabs Miles's sleeve before the door can be shut and he whispers with a creepy smile. "You caught me. But don't worry; I'll eventually smash your wife, and then, I'll make her divorce your poverty-stricken ass."
