CHAPTER TWO: JEALOUSY AND DISAPPOINTMENT.

Miles glared at the average-height middle-aged man right behind his wife. “Why the heck would you bring your boss with you?”

Lola, a beautiful young woman, stood before her husband with slight confusion. "Oh, my boss offered to drive me here after I requested a leave." She glanced at the man behind her with a warm smile. "I wouldn't have gotten here this fast without him."

“No need to thank me, I’m just helping out the most lovely woman in my department.” Mr. Porsche shamelessly placed his hand on Lola’s waist while staring at Mile with a shrewd gaze. He clearly wanted to piss Miles off, and by the furious expression on Mile’s face, it had worked.

Edmund Porsche is the Director of Styleon Group's Sales Department. Though this man portrayed a calm and jovial attitude to the public, he was actually a deeply conceited man who has coveted Lola ever since she joined the company under his guidance.

Once Miles explained their daughter’s situation to his wife, he openly showed his discontentment at the sales director’s presence. “Mr. Porsche, with all due respect, this is a private matter concerning my family, and since you are the farthest thing from that, I respectfully ask that you leave, please.”

“Miles?!” Lola was shocked at her husband’s action.

“It’s fine, Lola; I understand.” Edmund continued to display his public persona. “Miles, I only came here because I heard of what happened to your sweet daughter. Sadly, I know that your job as a mere gateman barely offers enough wages to get you through the week, so I’m willing to pay the $300,000 for your daughter’s treatment.”

Miles was visibly seething at this point. He could hear the condescending tone in Edmund's voice as he spoke about Mile's low status. "Listen here, I may not be earning a lot of money, but I would rather be dead than accept any help from a snake like you!"

"Miles, shut up!" Lola stared at her husband with a mixture of fury and shock. She quickly stood between the two men as she saw Miles moving towards the shorter man. "Mr. Porsche just wants to help our daughter."

“Well, we don’t need his help!” Miles retorted as his heated stare remained on the sales director. “Since you need me to spell it out for you, here it is. You’re not welcome here, Edmund Porsche, so get lost!”

At this point, the commotion between these three had garnered attention from the various patients and medical staff occupying the reception area. These people had witnessed Edmund Porsche getting chased out and it deeply embarrassed the sales director, but he kept an ambiguous smile on his face while masking his fury at Miles. He was going to make this security guard pay for this humiliation.

Edmund cleared his throat as he adjusted his suit. “Very well then, I’ll take my leave.” He quickly turned around to hide his unpleasant mood as he walked away.

Unknown to the married couple, Edmund quickly called over a nurse and whispered into her ear before transferring $5,000 into her account. With an evil smirk, he left the hospital.

Meanwhile,

“Why did you do that?” Lola glared at Miles. “Now that you’ve chased him away, where are we supposed to get the $150,000 for Kelsey’s medication?”

Miles is about to reassure his wife that they will find another way out when the nurse who had been bribed by Edmund suddenly rushes over.

“Mr. Creek, I have been asked to inform you that you have to leave this hospital with your daughter if you don’t pay the medical bill today!” The nurse spoke so loudly that everyone in that hall could hear her. “If you don’t pay today, I’ll have to get security to escort you and your sick child out of this hospital.”

"This is entirely your fault Miles!" Lola turned around and slapped her husband hard across the face. "Why did you humiliate our only savior? You better find that money today or I'll never forgive you. I don't care even if you have to beg my parents for the money." She quickly turned around and headed to her daughter's medical room to check on her.

Miles was left shocked at his wife's sudden action. He understood her feelings though, but he refused to call his in-laws who have always looked down on him. After minutes of sitting quietly in the reception area, he reluctantly picked up his phone and dialed a number. Soon, the voice of an old man came through.

“Oh my goodness! Young Master Creek, is that really you calling?!”

“Hello, Butler Dorian. I need a favor and I don’t want my father or anyone in the empire to find out.”
