William’s gaze turned cold as he smoothly turned around with an intense swipe of his left leg, landing a brutal kick to a burly man’s chest. He immediately took a couple of steps back to find that this burly man was in a completely black outfit and a black mask over his face. He had the dagger in his hand, held tightly as he was in a position to attack again.William quickly held his fists out. “What do you want?” He growled out.The burly masked man chuckled beneath the mask. “Nothing. We have simply been hired to fuck you up. You offended the wrong client, and he’s paid to make you bleed tonight.”William quickly picked up on a particular word. “We?” Immediately he said this, he felt two more presence rushing from behind, where the bedroom is located in this apartment. He quickly swerved to the side though, before they could reach him, but he didn’t expect that the second he got up on his feet, he heard what he could recognize as the sound of a silent pistol going off. In the ne
Early the next morning, Drake walked into the McArthur headquarters with prideful steps despite the bandages on his right arm. The thought of not seeing a certain someone arrive on his first day at the internship made him happy.Drake looked down at the bandages on his right hand as he was taking the elevator up to the internship department. “The fucking guts of that abandoned bastard to break my hand.” He gritted his teeth as the horrible memory from yesterday came rushing back. “After the trap, I had prepared in his new apartment, I would like to see if he dares look me in the eyes…if he survived that attack, that is.”Drake exited the elevator, walking inside the internship sector when he heard Laura and Ian chatting with Jed, Amma, Armando, and Drew.“Why haven’t William come in for his first day?” Amma stared at the newly cleaned desk placed in the junior intern's area, along with the other four desks. “That guy must really not be as intelligent as his university made him out
Every single one of these interns was from a rich background, and they had varying levels of influence. Unfortunately for them, Drake’s influence in the McArthur headquarters was, for unknown reasons to most employees far greater than theirs. There had been about eight other interns who started with Drake, Ian, and Laura. Then Drake began to make a move on all of them. For every single intern who tried to resist, they were pressured further by Drake, using the mysterious influence he had in this company. Later, all the other eight interns couldn’t take it anymore. Some of them actually lost their lives to Drake’s scheming. As for the rest, they either ended up quitting or they had their internship contracts terminated due to being framed for something that they didn’t do.This was basically it. Drake is a nasty predator, and the McArthur headquarters’ internship department is his hunting ground. For those who struggle against this predator, they are forced into horrible situations.
The entire room became quiet. It was very rare to find the intern supervisor in an outwardly furious mood. To Drake though, the angry woman was now taking only a bit of his attention, with most of it being put on William. “You!” He pointed at the newest junior intern with a mixed expression of surprise and anger. “What the fuck are you doing here?!” He had spoken in a moment of fury at the sight of William.William, on the other hand, smirked annoyingly at Drake. “Why are you reacting that way? Were you expecting me to end up somewhere else instead?”Drake quickly held his tongue before more words spilled out. He had finally realized the supervisor was here, and thus, he reigned in his emotions.“Did you guys hear all that I just said?!” Cordelia brought the interns' attention back to her. “I said one of you had the guts to send armed men waiting on the new apartment the company had prepared for William. Which one of you did it?”Laura, Ian, Jed, Armando, Drew, and Amma were qu
William saw this coming though. He had fought opponents far more physically capable than Drake. He caught the older man’s fist by the wrist in time before twisting it within his grasp. In the next few seconds, William was now standing behind Drake, with the senior intern’s left hand twisted behind him. “It seems you have forgotten what happened the last time you tried to do this, so I’ll you off with a last warning. The next time you attempt a physical attack against me, I will ensure you spend at least a year in the hospital.” He whispered these words into Drake’s ear, ignoring the man’s groans from the pain of having his arm twisted so brutally, before pushing him away.Drake couldn’t even properly caress his twisted arm, as his right hand was still bandaged. He glared at William from a distance, giving up on trying to physically oppress him. “What the hell did you tell Mrs. Bright.”William sneered at him. “What’s the rush? You’ll find out once we reach the supervisor’s office.”
Time was soon up and all eight interns of the McArthur headquarters found themselves in the supervisor’s office. William and Drake were both seated in the two chairs facing the desk, across from Cordelia Bright. As for the other six, they had no choice but to stand behind them. Everyone except for William, looked incredibly nervous.Cordelia had her hands intertwined as she stared at the faces of her intern. She said nothing for the first minute before she then cleared her throat. “Your fellow intern, Mr. Chain, reported to me around 04:00 am. He had just moved into the apartment that I had requested from the company for him, only to be met with almost ten masked men, armed with daggers and pistols.” Her voice was grim. “If it wasn’t for the fact that his bodyguards were with him, things would have definitely been bad. How do you think it would look on the company’s reputation if they found out that the nationwide known student from BAU had been attacked on the first night he steppe
“And I have the proof.”Drake’s heart was filled with fear as it was racing furiously at this point. William held his phone in his hand, assuring the intern supervisor, in the presence of everyone else that he could point out who was behind this.William didn’t wait for permission to elaborate. He turned his phone on and quickly opened the gallery section, going straight to the latest video he had there. “Here it is.” He turned the screen to the supervisor.Cordelia Bright could see that one of these masked men was now bound tightly, unable to break free. His mask was then pulled right off his face, revealing the face of a middle-aged man who had been heated severely. Then this man began talking with great fear in his entire body language.“I’ll confess! Please, I’ll confess! Just don’t kill me!”Even though none of the other interns could see the video, as it was still facing the supervisor, they could clearly hear the voice of the man in the video. Each of them was smart enough
Laura and Ian shared a glance of worry. They didn’t want to join Drake in his lies, but they knew that there was no choice being offered here. They were all Drake’s puppets, and if they offended him, none of them doubted that he could easily ruin all they had accomplished in this company, and none was eager to leave the McArthur headquarters. This was the same thing going on in the minds of Jed, Ammar, Drew, and Armando.Thus….Laura nodded her head, while unable to look anyone, especially the supervisor and William, in the eyes. “Drake is telling the truth, Supervisor. William actually acted quite aloof to everyone behind your back. It was hard to really communicate with him so we kept our distance.Ian nodded his head as well. “I also noticed all of this.”There was silence after this, and Drake’s gaze shifted to the junior interns. He glared at them, daring to keep quiet any longer.Jed was the first to crack. “Um, Supervisor Bright, William was also rude to me and the others
