8. Zayden is Furious

Gossip about Warrick having a black card had spread in some wealthy circles. People who saw Warrick at Hawk Jewelry Store always brought up the incident to their close friends.

Tonight, Zayden met his friends for dinner at a well-known restaurant after finishing all his assignments. That's when he heard the gossip about Warrick.

"Hey, Zayden," Corine spoke when she saw Zayden finishing his beef steak. "Do you know anything about Warrick?"

For a moment, a tense expression crossed Zayden's face. He thought Corine raised that question because she heard the news of Warrick's death.

'Good, that idiot is finally dead. Kaden did his job well.'

Zayden was happy within. But in front of his friends, he had to put on a worried face.

With a stutter, he asked, "Wh-What happened to Warrick? Did something bad happen to him? I don't know anything because I came straight to meet you all after work."

"A friend of mine said she saw Warrick at Hawk Jewelry Store," Corine replied, making everyone there curious.

"What...?" Zayden's puzzled expression was not fake. He had not heard any gossip about Warrick.

Juan chimed in. "Actually, I joined you guys because I wanted to say something about Warrick."

"Is it the same thing Corine wanted to talk about?" Zayden asked, trying to contain his anger.

Beneath the table, his fists clenched tightly. He cursed Kaden in his heart for failing to kill Warrick. His stepbrother's death should have gone viral today.

Juan shook his head at Zayden. "I don't know anything about what happened at Hawk Store. But I heard fantastic gossip!"

"What's that?" Corine asked impatiently. She believed Warrick holding a black card was more shocking than all previous rumors regarding him. But Juan appeared to have another rumor.

"You know Marvin, right? For those who don't, he's a producer at Finch Entertainment. I heard Warrick pour hot soup on Marvin's face and beat him up badly. Now, Marvin is being treated in hospital."

Unconsciously, people who were still enjoying their beef steak dropped their knives and forks.

The room fell silent, and all eyes were on Juan. Their gazes demanded more explanation from him.

"I know about this incident from my friend who works at Finch Entertainment," Juan continued. "But it's not just Marvin. Warrick also attacked Russel and Lauren!"

Becky widened her eyes in shock. "He hit a girl too?"

"Yes, he did! I heard Lauren lost two molars because of Warrick's slap."

With her jaw fell, Corine was unable to speak. She was astonished by Juan's statement. It turned out the gossip about the black card could not compare to the insane incident at Finch Entertainment.

"He's completely lost his mind," Armando wiped his mouth with a napkin. The delicious food on the table no longer interested him after hearing about Warrick.

Juan nodded in agreement. "It seems like he's venting his anger because he's always been belittled by others. But doesn't he deserve it? If he doesn't want to be trashed, he should be as smart and successful as Zayden!"

Now, everyone turned to look at Zayden, who was still in disbelief.

"I'm really sorry you have a stepbrother like Warrick," Becky let out a sigh of pity.

Zayden snapped out of his shock and quickly put on a sweet smile. "Don't say that. Either way, Warrick is my brother. I'm sure he wouldn't act without a good reason."

"Wow, you have a good heart! If it were me, I wouldn't acknowledge Warrick as my brother," Juan praised Zayden excessively. He wanted to get closer to Zayden for his benefit.

Meanwhile, Zayden just smiled in response to Juan's compliment. He glanced at Corine. "So, what news do you have about Warrick?"

"My friend said he bought a set of Hawk jewelry collection," Corine answered, not getting a great reaction from the people.

They did not find that news extraordinary because they had already heard Juan's fantastic story. However, the shock from Corine's next words was even more intense than before.

"Warrick paid for the jewelry set with a black card!"

Becky almost spurted out her wine. She fast downed the wine. "A black card, you say? Zayden doesn't even have one!"

The atmosphere turned chill as Zayden's expression changed. He did not like what Becky had just said.

Realizing the tension, Armando tried to fix up the atmosphere.

"Only certain people are offered a black card by Emerald International Bank. Warrick is just a salesman. How could he get an invitation? It's suspicious."

Armando's words made everyone think. Indeed, Warrick's black card seemed suspicious. But he could not have forged it.

If he did, Emerald Bank would have caught him right away. Emerald Bank acted swiftly when it came to fraud.

Moreover, Corine stated that Warrick bought a Hawk collection jewelry set. Since the payment was successful, it meant his black card was real.

"What if..." Becky grabbed everyone's attention. Her expression looked serious. "Someone gave him that black card?"

Zayden had the same suspicion as Becky. But who would be willing to give Warrick such an exclusive card?

For the past ten years, no one had supported Warrick. It was strange that he suddenly received support now.

A young master from a wealthy family must have values to gain support, for example, Zayden, who had successfully obtained the position of Chief Financial Officer.

Warrick was not worthy of support with his job as a salesperson. People would think a thousand times before siding with him.

"My friends, I apologize," Zayden finally spoke after being silent for a while. He smiled as he continued, "I have an important matter to attend to right now. May I leave?"

Everyone could guess how Zayden felt. He must be shocked after finding out that Warrick might compete with him for the heir's position.

"Of course. You may leave," Armando spoke on behalf of the others.

Zayden bowed to his friends as an apology. He maintained his smile to improve his appearance in front of the customers.

However, as soon as Zayden got into his car, veins of anger protruded from his temples, and his hands clenched.

"How could that loser get a black card?!"

Zayden angrily slammed the steering wheel. His shoulders shifted up and down as his breath became ragged. He had worked hard for the past few years, but Emerald Bank declared he did not meet the criteria to have a black card.

Nonetheless, he continued to make efforts after that. He even persuaded Ernest to request an invitation from Emerald Bank to get him a black card.

Unfortunately, Ernest had no influence in Emerald Bank because he was not close to the Nerelart family.

Zayden decided to approach some Nerelart family members. But they said the invitation to have a black card was beyond their reach.

That's why he exploded in anger when he learned that Warrick had a black card.

"It's impossible for that idiot to get a black card! Someone must be helping him. But who...?"

Zayden needed clues about Warrick's supporter. After calming down, he picked up his phone to contact Kaden.

The call connected within a few seconds.

"Hey, what's going on?" Zayden asked in a furious tone. "Warrick is still alive. I gave you a lot of money to kill him!"

Kaden responded calmly. "Don't get angry, Mr. Client. I understand you're upset. But there's an issue causing your request to be delayed."

"What issue is that?"

"There's a small conflict among the underworld rulers. I have to resolve that conflict to prevent a bigger problem."

Kaden chose to hide the truth that Warrick had beaten his men. Besides preserving his reputation, he also wanted to see how strong Warrick was without anyone noticing.

"When can you complete my request?" Zayden was still mad because his plan did not go as he wanted.

"I'll inform you when the conflict is truly resolved. Don't worry. If you're not patient, you can hire someone else. I'll refund the money."

Zayden thought hard about what to choose. "Contact me when the conflict is over. And... do you know someone who can gather information?"

"Like a detective? Hmm, I think I know someone who usually does that kind of work. I'll give you his contact."

"Thank you. I'll hang up the call then."

Zayden ended the call without waiting for Kaden's response. He drove his car to the Rauveron family mansion. Perhaps Ernest knew something about Warrick's black card.

At the same time, Warrick was on his way back home with Aelish after spending their afternoon at the orphanage.

As his motorcycle passed through dark streets, several people suddenly jumped from the trees and blocked his path.
