9. A Mysterious Quest

Aelish gripped Warrick's shirt tightly, staring fearfully at the mysterious men. She could not see their faces because they wore masks.

"Are they sent by people who want revenge on you?" she guessed, remembering Warrick getting into trouble with three film crew members.

Marvin did not come from a big family. But his parents were wealthy and well-known, so it was no surprise that they took extreme ways to beat up Warrick for touching their son.

"I have chili spray," Aelish remembered the chili spray she always carried. "It might come in handy. I'll give it to you."

Warrick stopped his motorcycle. He motioned for Aelish to stay where she was.

"Keep the chili spray for you because it won't be useful."

Aelish nodded. What Warrick said made sense. The chili spray was useless in defeating seven tall, muscular men.

"I'll beat them all, so I don't need to use your chili spray."

Hearing Warrick's words, Aelish's eyes bulged in shock. She knew her husband had grown bolder since the Finch Entertainment and Hawk Jewelry Store incident.

However, what Warrick was about to face was no spoiled brat from a wealthy family. The seven men had well-trained physiques.

Aelish could see their muscles. Anyone hit by their punches would surely faint instantly.

"Warrick, we'd better run away! It's too risky to fight them alone," Aelish shouted, worried.

Warrick looked briefly at Aelish, saying, "They will still come after us even if we run away."

After that, he walked towards his opponents while activating the 'Hands of Torment' skill that would last an hour. That meant he must defeat his opponent before the skill was deactivated.

['Hands of Torment' has been activated!

Remaining usage time: 60:00]

['Speed' increases during skill usage.]

Warrick jumped up and down a little as a warm-up. He stared at the seven men who had pulled out weapons before him.

Three of them were clutching pistols, and the others were wielding daggers. When one of them pulled the pistol trigger, the men with the daggers lunged at Warrick at the same time.

The shooters did not move from their spots because they were not melee fighters. They could leave the matter to their comrades.

To make it easier for melee fighters to defeat Warrick, they fired bullets with amazing accuracy.

S-level fighters had such perfect accuracy that they were considered not ordinary humans. Today, for the first time, their attacks and shots missed.

A few seconds ago, Warrick stood about three meters in front of the shooters, and the melee fighters were only a few centimeters away from him.

"Where did he go?" a shooter gasped in wonder as his target disappeared.

The most surprised among them were the melee fighters. Three of them had predicted the distance and attack precisely.

But when they thrust their daggers, Warrick suddenly vanished. This caused one person to fall to the street.

"Find out where he went right away!"

They examined all crossroads. It appeared that Warrick was hiding behind a tree, so they could not find him.

For this reason, the shooters fired several bullets into the trees as a threat.

Since Warrick did not show himself, someone pulled Aelish and pressed a dagger against her neck.

"If you don't show up in one minute, I'll slit this girl's throat!"

Aelish felt her body go numb and rigid throughout. She would have brought a strong weapon to defend herself if she had known this would happen to her.

Her hands were too weak to take the chili spray from her bag. But she did not think she could wait for Warrick or anyone else to help her.

With the bravery that came from being in danger of dying, she jumped up and aimed her helmet at the thug holding her hostage.

"Argh, this girl!" the thug cursed Aelish. He did not anticipate that she would dare attack him.

But after all, that kind of weak attack did not significantly damage him.

"The boss didn't tell me to kill you, silly girl. But you're so bold that I have to teach you a lesson!"

The wind swirled behind the thug as he was about to stab Aelish in the chest. And at that moment, Warrick appeared to crush his wrist.

At the same time, the shooters began to fire as soon as they noticed Warrick's appearance.

"I'm sorry, Aelish," Warrick said before kicking Aelish's leg, making the girl fall with a grimace of pain.

He did it on purpose to keep Aelish safe from gunfire. He dragged the opponent in his clutches away from Aelish while dodging shots fired.

"You're tough," Warrick glanced at the thug's broken wrist. "Even though I crushed your wrist, you didn't scream."

The thug laughed mockingly. "Your grip wasn't enough to take my expensive scream!"

Warrick snorted at the words spoken in such a haughty tone. Without saying anything, he snatched the thug by the face and slammed him into the road.

The other thugs were stunned to witness the incident. Anyone could do what Warrick did. But what shocked them were the cracks in the road caused by his action.

"I-Is he really human?!"

Being too surprised, the shooters loosened up their alertness. It was too late for them to escape Warrick, who had been standing behind them.

"I've got your back!" Warrick shouted before choking the two shooters and smashing their faces against each other several times.

The shooters' bones were crushed by his chokehold. They dropped to the ground, their necks in an odd angle.

The lone shooter hurriedly fired at Warrick, but none of his bullets struck the target since Warrick was moving too fast. He could not see his opponent's movements!

He did not even know when Warrick punched him in the stomach, which caused him to be tossed and crash a tree before losing consciousness.

The melee fighters were now the only ones left. But after witnessing Warrick fighting, their mental state had been completely destroyed. They realized the man was no match for them.

"You're not going to attack me?" Warrick asked as he grabbed a pistol from the shooter he had defeated.

He grinned as he pointed the pistol at the remaining opponents. "In that case, I will attack you first!"

The looks of horror had been etched on the thugs' faces. They wanted to move, but the overwhelming fear prevented their bodies from doing so.

They shut their eyes as soon as the gunshots were heard. They thought Warrick would shoot them dead.

But they were wrong. Warrick only shot their hands and feet.

"I only killed two shooters as a warning," Warrick spoke coldly, his sharp gaze shining as if it was capable of tearing his opponents apart.

He threw the pistol out of his hand, showing he was done with this fight.

"Tell whoever sent you that I will be more cruel if they bother me again."

The thugs could only gulp nervously. They resisted the urge to stare at Warrick as he passed them.

Warrick glanced at the thug who had threatened Aelish earlier. He wanted to slaughter him but did not because Aelish looked scared.

If only Aelish was not with him, he would have finished off all the thugs. But he held back because he did not want to show more gruesome scenes.

"Can you stand up?" Warrick extended his hand to Aelish. "I'm sorry for kicking you."

Aelish hesitated to accept Warrick's hand. She was still not mentally recovered from the incident. To be honest, she felt frightened after witnessing how Warrick behaved.

However, Aelish had no justification for continuing to be afraid of Warrick. She realized they would be in danger if her husband did not act ruthlessly.

"I'm fine. I understand why you did that to me."

Warrick smiled with relief as Aelish accepted his hand. All the way home, they did not say a word.

Neither of them could forget the earlier tense incident. Even though Warrick had a powerful skill, he was still nervous because he was unsure if he could win again.

On the other hand, Aelish wondered how Warrick could be so strong. She was sure her husband's strength was abnormal. But she chose to keep quiet because if Warrick did not tell her, it meant he needed time to explain the truth.

After arriving home, Warrick told Aelish to go to bed while he was still open-eyed. He watched the footage from the small camera attached to the thug who had attacked him under the bridge.

Warrick skipped the scenes he did not need. He only watched the most important part, where a few people showed up to check on the thugs.

"You're saying that you were all defeated by Warrick?" a young red-haired man was dumbfounded by the thug's explanation.

"Yes, he defeated us with incredible strength!"

"That's impossible! Mr. Zayden said that Warrick was just a weak young master. His words are valid because Boss Kaden had searched out about Warrick beforehand. You're not lying, are you?"

"I'm telling the truth. I... Ugh, my whole body hurts!"

The young man was forced to end the conversation. He instructed the people with him to take the injured thugs to the hospital.

Warrick paused the recording. It turned out that it was Zayden who had sent the thugs. He was not surprised since he had included Zayden's name on the list of suspects.

"He must want to eliminate me because the heir competition has begun."

Ernest had previously announced that Warrick could compete with Zayden when he reached twenty-five.

People assumed Warrick would fail and be removed from the Rauveron family. Ernest announced the competition to inform everyone that his eldest son was incompetent to be the next heir.

Unfortunately, they did not know that Warrick had a secret weapon. He was no longer the foolish, weak young master. His actions would stun them in the future.
