Damon Bennett arrived at the company as early as 7 a.m. with a smile on his face. He was determined to make today as productive as possible.

The previous days had been a mess—spilling coffee, getting on Vivian's nerves, and arriving late.

As soon as he stepped out of his car, he noticed a shift in the atmosphere, an unease that hung in the air. People began stealing glances at him and whispering.

He looked around, feeling confused and shocked.

Walking into the building, he spotted Vivian Whitmore sitting at the head of the table with a dark expression of disbelief on her face. Beside her sat Amelia Prescott, frowning at Damon, and to Vivian’s right was Lorenzo Clinton, his expression unreadable.

Several other executives were present, their gazes darting between Damon and the stack of documents ominously placed in front of Vivian.

“Damon,” Vivian began, her voice calm but cold, “please, take a seat.”

Damon hesitated before sitting down, his brow furrowed in confusion. “What’s going on?

The words hammered in Damon’s head, a countdown to losing everything he had fought so hard to build. He walked out of the building slowly, barely registering the whispers, gossip, and stares from his colleagues. Who would do this to him? Manipulate and frame him for something he hadn’t done? Whoever orchestrated this knew exactly what they were doing—timing, details, everything. And only one name came to his mind: Tyler.Tyler had always been a pain—a relentless rival who saw Damon as a threat. Their last meeting had been tense, to say the least.Damon chuckled bitterly at how dirty Tyler was willing to play. If Tyler wanted a dirty game, Damon decided, he would play just as ruthlessly.“Okay,” he muttered, pulling his phone from his pocket and scrolling through his contacts. His thumb hovered over a name before he tapped it.He dialed the number, and when the call connected, he said, “Diane. I need a favor.”Diane Peters, Whitmore’s IT supervisor, let out a low whistle. “A favor? Dam

The timing felt almost theatrical, as if Tyler somehow knew Damon had him in his sights. For a moment, Damon considered letting the call ring out. But his instincts screamed otherwise—this wasn’t the time to back down.“Look at this,” he muttered, sliding his phone across the table to Diane. Her brows furrowed as she read the name on the screen. “Tyler?” she asked, her voice low and incredulous.“The devil himself,” Damon replied, his lips curling into a grim smile.Diane’s eyes darted between Damon and the phone. “You gonna answer that?”Damon picked up the phone, his gaze locking with Diane’s. “Watch this.” He hit the green button and brought the phone to his ear.“Tyler,” Damon said, his tone sharp and unyielding. The other man’s voice came through the line, smooth and mocking. “Damon, my old friend. Lorenzo walked into his office with a satisfied smile on his face, his posture upright, exuding confidence and power. He had taken care of Damon Bennett, as requested by Tyler. The young man’s impatience and arrogance had clouded his judgment, but Lorenzo had managed to resolve the situation without leaving a trace. It was business, nothing more, and he would ensure it stayed that way. Starprize Enterprise, the family company he had helped build from the ground up, needed to remain untarnished by scandal. The last thing he wanted was someone like Damon exposing the company’s skeletons. As he entered, however, his mind shifted focus. The office was dimly lit, and Marissa Walters sat at her desk, her ever-diligent presence the only constant in his life for the past decade. She was reading through the latest reports, her fingers tapping rhythmically on the keyboard, her glasses perched low on her nose. She was the perfect combination of intelligence and poise, her sharp blue eyes catchin

The next day dawned cloudy and tense as Damon Bennett strode into the Starprize Enterprise building, ignoring the unease prickling at his skin. He’d been explicitly told to stay away until he “sorted himself out,” but there was something he needed—a key document he’d left behind, crucial for a presentation he was preparing to salvage what little credibility he had left. As he entered, he spotted Vivian near the reception desk, her sharp features fixed in a cold expression. She had always been icy toward him, but today, her gaze seemed particularly hostile. Damon stiffened, adjusting the strap of his leather messenger bag as he decided against approaching her. He didn’t need another confrontation—not today. Instead, he ducked his head and made a beeline for the elevators. It was supposed to be a quick in-and-out trip, but something else had come up that required him to face Lorenzo, of all people. By the time Damon reached Lorenzo’s office on the executive floor, his nerves were f

The room went silent as Amelia's voice sliced through like a knife. Damon turned sharply to see her standing in the doorway. Her expression was that of pure disbelief, with her beautiful eyes darting between the two men. Amelia’s eyes were known to be some of the most beautiful in the world, perfectly shaped with a charming enigma. Her usually calm demeanor was gone, and her ever-peaceful eyes were now replaced by a mix of anger and something else—betrayal. “Amelia?” Damon breathed, his anger momentarily turning to surprise. He hadn’t expected her to be here—no one had. Amelia stepped into the room with her heels clicking sharply against the polished marble floor. Her presence was commanding, and even Lorenzo seemed to falter under the weight of her icy glare. “What did you just say, Lorenzo?” Amelia repeated, her voice cold but measured. She looked like she was holding herself together by sheer willpower. “You made a deal? With Tyler Prescott?” Lorenzo turned toward her, his fa

Amelia’s eyes narrowed in anger once more. The audacity of Lorenzo, asking for help after everything he had just admitted, was almost too much to bear. She shook her head slowly, her voice laced with disbelief. “You’ve got to be kidding me,” she muttered, more to herself than to him. “After everything you’ve done—everything you’ve sacrificed for your selfish gain—you think we’d help you cover this up?” Lorenzo’s face twisted with frustration. “You don’t understand, Amelia! If Vivian finds out what I did, she’ll destroy me. I can’t let that happen. I’m begging you—please.” Damon stepped forward, his jaw clenched tightly as his anger simmered beneath the surface. “You think this is a game, Lorenzo? You’ve played with people’s lives, with their futures, and now you expect us to cover your tracks?” He let out a sharp laugh, the bitterness in his tone unmistakable. “You’ve already lost everything. Your integrity, your honor, your place here. There’s no going back from this.” Amelia
