Chapter 6: Everything Getting More Worse

"Aarav, my condolences on the loss of your mother."

Juliana's funeral, Aarav's mother, was very quiet. Besides Aarav, there are only two siblings of his late father. Not many families come, because Aarav doesn't have many people who care about him.

"Thank you Aunt Racha" Aarav replied without looking at Aunt Racha.

Aunt Racha exhaled while lowering her hand on Aarav's right shoulder. He looked at Aarav somewhat annoyed, also feeling guilty.

"I'm sorry Auntie for not being able to help with your mother's medical expenses," Aunt Racha said again.

Aarav looks like he doesn't want to respond to Aunt Racha's words. His gaze remained fixed on the tombstone bearing Juliana's name. There was a rather large bouquet of pink flowers placed in front of Aarav's mother's tombstone.

While looking at Juliana's grave, Aarav still thinks about an anonymous person helping him. Since he was in the hospital to carry out the process of going to Juliana's funeral, until now that Juliana has been buried, no stranger has come to her.

Juliana's funeral was only attended by her late father's two older siblings, as well as two of her best male friends. Those four people couldn't possibly have twenty-two thousand dollars or power to acquit Aarav of false accusations.

"Aarav, are you coming home with us?" asked Aunt Killa, the woman standing across from Aarav.

Aarav shook his head. "I will stay here. If you want to go home, please," he said firmly. "Thank you for coming and accompanying the funeral process."

For a moment, silence.

No one answered Aarav's words. The four people around Aarav looked at each other, unsure whether to leave him or not.

Until finally, Aarav raised his face which had only been downcast. Overlooking the tomb.

"Why are you hesitating?" asked Aarav.

Aarav stay here. I want to talk to him.

Someone's voice from behind immediately caught his attention. Aarav turned his head back, saw the figure of a man wearing an all-black suit. There is a round hat that covers half of the face because it is bowed down.

"Who are you?" Aunt Racha asked. "Do you know Aarav?"

The man slightly lifted his face so that Aarav could see a small smile curve.

"Yes, I know him, and I need to talk to him."

All directions of gazes simultaneously fixed on Aarav. But Aarav was still watching the stranger with confusion and curiosity. He looked carefully at the whole body of a strange man, but Aarav only got more confused.

"Who are you?" asked Aarav.

"Don't you know me?" The man's low-pitched laughter rang out. "I think you already know me after what I did for you."

For a few seconds Aarav tried to digest the sentence: after what he did for me. Aarav feels unaccepted—

Wait. After Aarav noticed one more time: a tall man, wearing an all-black suit, also a round hat covering half of his face which was always downcast. These characteristics were notified by the hospital administrative staff a few hours ago.

Or maybe this guy is...

"You gave me the letter?" Aarav guesses.

Without answering, the foreign man widened his smile. And that's how Aarav found out that this man who had just arrived was an anonymous person who wanted to meet him.

"Aarav, you know him?" Aunt Racha, having been paying attention to Aarav and the stranger's conversation, asks again.

Aarav is actually not sure about Aunt Racha's question. However, if Aarav replies that he doesn't know this man then he cannot converse with this man.

"I know him," Aarav replied forcedly. Then he turned his gaze to the other four people. "You guys go home. I'll talk to him. Leave us alone."

Although there had been doubts, finally Aarav's request was complied with. His late father's two older siblings and his mother's two best friends walked away. Leaving Aarav and the stranger who were both silent.

When the other four people started to move away from Aarav, the stranger walked forward. Slowly approached Aarav who was silent while watching Juliana's grave.

They both stand next to each other.

Lonely.

Then, it was the strange man who spoke, "You must be very surprised by what happened to you."

Aarav hasn't answered by voice. However, the corners of Aarav's lips curved into a sinister smile.

"Life isn't always fun," the Stranger Man continued. "The people who are trying to harm you, and also push you to the bottom of the abyss. Even when you just experience one incident, you ... get new events that are more unexpected."

Aarav didn't know why the words of this foreign man beside him touched his heart quite a bit.

"How did you know?" Aarav then turns his gaze to the foreign man. "Who are you?"

"Maybe you don't realize, but I've been watching you. Since that night."

Really, Aarav couldn't understand why this foreign man was talking in such a way.

"That night?"

There was no immediate answer given by the foreign man. During the silence, the man then took something out of the black goodie bag in his hand.

A bouquet of flowers.

Ignoring Aarav who still looked confused, the man then placed a bouquet of flowers on Juliana's grave. Movement is very careful. He watched Juliana's tombstone so intensely, then lowered his head while placing one hand crossed.

"Greetings, madam."

Aarav frowned. Mrs?

"Wait..." Aarav stopped his sentence. "Why did you..."

The foreign man straightened up and turned his eyes to Aarav. He removed his round hat so that his face could be seen more clearly.

"Introducing Marcolin, I am the personal assistant to Mr. Watson, a close friend of Mrs. Juliana. The owner of The Washlon Tech Company."

Aarav was stunned to hear this man named Marcolin's words. For a moment his mind went blank, he couldn't say anything.

The Washlon Tech Company. Aarav had heard of that company name. However, he did not really know the ins and outs. Why does the company name sound like a big successful company?

"Mr. Watson? Wait..." Aarav stuttered with nervousness. "You're not wrong, right? In this world, there are many named Juliana."

Marcolin shook his head. "Mrs. Juliana, your mother, entrusts Mr. Watson with the responsibility to be responsible for your life if he dies. I have proof of the agreement between Mrs. Juliana and Mr. Watson."

Again, Aarav laughed sarcastically while shaking his head. However Aarav tried to digest what this foreign man said, it still didn't make sense.

"Have you received any messages on your phone?" he asked.

"Huh?" Aarav then remembers the message notification he ignored while in the hospital. "You mean the money transfer notification message?"

Marcoline nodded. "That's right, money transfer. Mr. Watson sent the money as a form of confidence in making an offer to you."

"What?" Really, Aarav couldn't help but laugh. "Are you kidding me? I can make my own money, what's the money for?"

"No kidding, Mr. Aarav. You can take the money, but you have to do a joint mission. Or, you can refuse, but unfortunately you have to pay a fine penalty."

Aarav doesn't know why his life feels more unlucky now.
