Chapter 8: There's No Way But More Suffering

[WATSON WILLIAM

EXECUTIVE MANAGER

The Washlon Tech Company]

Aarav reads the business card in his hand repeatedly. However Aarav thought of how Juliana could get to know Watson, he still couldn't find a logical possibility. He even slapped his cheeks twice because he felt that all this incident was a dream.

Unfortunately, Aarav knows what he is facing now is reality.

"Mother... why didn't you tell me anything?" muttered Aarav while walking down the sidewalk of the shophouses. "I think, although my life is not easy, there are no confusing secret things like this."

Now, Aarav really couldn't think straight.

His feelings are worried. Even though he had firmly rejected Marcolin's offer, for some reason it still felt like something was bothering him. Especially when Marcolin mentioned his father's death.

Has his family always had connections with people in big companies?

So, why did his parents continue to live a life of poverty?

"Hah..." Aarav let out a rough breath as he raised his head. "I just want to lead a quiet life. Why is all this so confusing?"

As long as Aarav traced the sidewalks of these shophouses, he was still trying to connect the tangled red threads. But the more he tried, the more it seemed that all possibilities seemed impossible to become the truth.

While Aarav's mind was going through various things, his steps were getting closer to his small restaurant building. At first Aarav closed his eyes to calm his mind. But once his eyes opened, the sight of crowds of people caught his attention.

Aarav's steps suddenly stop. From a few meters away, he saw a black sedan. The people standing with their backs to him seemed to be watching something.

Aarav frowned. 'What are they watching?'

"Is this restaurant really going to be confiscated?" Vaguely, Aarav hears a woman's voice.

"I guess because Aarav couldn't repay the bank loan." Then, the woman beside him replied. "I didn't expect that his restaurant business has not been selling well recently. Why would he dare to apply for such a big loan?"

"I don't know. He's so stupid. I heard he was accused of being an illegal businessman in the factory where he works!"

"Right, right. I watched the news too. Are the accusations true?"

They are talking about Aarav?

Wait. If they mentioned applying for a large loan, it meant that the black sedan that came in was the bank's car.

Aarav immediately glares frantically. Without thinking much, spontaneously Aarav ran between the three women who were talking about him.

Instantly the whispers of the people who had gathered stopped seeing Aarav's arrival. But Aarav doesn't care about that. He approached one of the men who was watching two other men display yellow markers.

"Don't forget to put the confiscated statement board—"

"Master, Master!" Out of breath, Aarav held the bank man's right arm. "What are you guys doing with my restaurant?"

The male bank clerk, who has Brian's name tag, is surprised by Aarav's arrival. But his surprise soon disappeared, replaced by an expression full of annoyance.

"Mr. Aarav, you didn't follow our rules. Today is five days after your debt is due. So, we have to confiscate your restaurant which you used as collateral for your debt."

Aarav was speechless for a few seconds. He just remembered that five days ago was the last day his debt was due to the bank. While the male bank officer immediately turned his attention to the other three officers.

"Continue with your work!"

"Sir, sir, I know my debt is due. But please give me another extension, sir."

"We have given you a five day extension sweat, Mr. Aarav. We should have billed you three days after the due date."

Aarav's mind was suddenly blown away. He was confused, panicked, and stuttering. Realizing that the male bank officer in front of him did not want to be persuaded by his pleas, Aarav racked his brain to find a way to persuade this male bank officer.

On the other hand, Aarav's ears hear the whispers of the other residents. Aarav could see the cynical and disgusted expressions from them.

"That's too bad. I just heard he's been charged with being an illegal businessman."

"But he's free. I don't know why he's free. Did he bribe the law?"

"How can he be in debt like that? Even though he should know that his business is not selling."

"From now on, we don't have to come to an ex-convict's restaurant?"

"There is no pity for convicts like him. You look dear to your mother in front of other residents, but it turns out that you are doing illegal business."

"Feel the effects!"

The insults from other residents made Aarav sigh heavily. He took his hands off the male bank clerk's arm, then placed his hands on his waist.

For a moment, while the other three male bank officers were busy putting up police lines and signs saying 'RESTAURANT HAS BEEN SEIZED BANK', Aarav was nervous. His mind was completely contemplating what he should say.

With a sad face that panicked, Aarav immediately said again "I will come to the bank office and ask for an extension. It's only three days. I'll pay—"

"Mr Aarav, Mr Aarav should have paid off when we gave five days!" The male bank clerk's tone suddenly became high.

Aarav becomes silent, shocked.

The bank man looks frustrated facing Aarav. "Mr. Aarav, the agreement that you and the bank made is still an agreement. It can't be refuted. It can't be extended."

The last sentence of the bank clerk seemed to be a firmness that Aarav couldn't deny. Somehow, Aarav's heart throbbed with pain. Aarav knows that his persuasion won't have any effect.

In the end, Aarav didn't say anything more. His body went limp knowing there was nothing he could do. He took another deep breath and held his forehead.

Aarav backed away, very slowly, staring intently at the restaurant building that no longer belonged to him.

All his things are gone now.

'What should I do now?' thought Aarav.
