Chapter 2

Get out, you useless child"

That was the only sound that continued to echo in Louis' mind. He has been chased out his father's fief. His father was a baron who got his nobility from the battle field. Jones was a common citizen that joined the army during an inter kingdom war and was able to survive till the end of the war. In appreciation of his gallantry, he was given the title of a Baron with a fief. During the years he spent to defend the Kingdom of Landor, he already had a son.

After few months of his being a noble, he got married to one of the daughters of an Earl to seek protection and to maintain the daily activities of the fief. Baroness Milox Jones was so harsh towards Louis. To make matter worse, when Louis was twelve years old, his talent was tested and it was black which means he had no talents.

He became an object of mockery in the entire fief and his father neglected him. This gave Milox various chances to destroy him

"I will be eighteen tomorrow and I can get out of this damn place and have the rights to do things on my own", Louis thought as he slept on his tattered bed with no bed sheet whatsoever.

It was six in the morning, Louis as usual was already awake, it was his duty to do all the house chores even though, there were maids in the castle. He hurriedly found the best of his rags to wear at least to make himself happy.

When Louis came out, he saw all the maids at work, he was shocked, surprised and also bothered of there was a conspiracy behind it. He later left thinking it was his father's order.

"He still loves me after all, I am his first son", Louis thought as he smiles and returned to his room. Unknown to him another surprise awaited him. He opened the door and behold, a new beautiful piece of clothing shining as the golden buttons were obvious was laid on his table and just beside it laid a new pair of shoes.

"I have not had something like this for years", Louis with tears almost falling from his face remembered his mother. Even though his father was not around and they were not very well to do but on every of his birthdays, there were special surprise packages given to him by his mother. This surprise reminded him of those good old days.

Knock, knock, knock.

The knocking on the door helped him to comport himself. He cleaned the almost falling tears and went to check who was at the door. He peeped and saw his step brother, Thole.

Thole was the first born of his step mother. He is the proudest of his step siblings because he was the one with the highest talent and a high chance of inheriting the position of Baron of Joneas fief.

"Brother let me help you dress up as it is already time for family breakfast and the whole family is waiting for the celebrant", he said as he entered Louis' room. He was obviously disgusted by the room but he still managed to squeeze a smile. He picked the clothes and helped Louis in dressing.

Louis looked at himself in the broken piece of mirror and he looked at least presentable. He was led to the dining room by Thole who was walking arrogantly as always.

Louis sat on the chair given to him and ate. He couldn't help himself than to dig in as it has been a long time he ate like a human. His ration was the worst in the castle as he eats only the leftover from various types of food. Milox sat at his left side and Jones on his right side and for the first time in years he was showered affection.

After the breakfast, Baron Jones went to inspect the fief. Louis had already laid down all his vigilance and defense towards a prospective conspiracy. He was too happy as he finally felt that sense of belonging to the JONES family.

Clara, the apple of Milox's eyes and the only female child of the family came to meet the daydreaming Louis in the garden and they talked about a lot of things before he was invited to sneak out the castle.

"Big brother let us go outside to the market square to play and buy many things."

Louis of course agreed without much thoughts agreed to go with her. They journeyed through the streets and trecked towards the market square.

"Brother I like that sweet"

"Brother I want that dress"

They continued to buy lot of things for themselves and of course most things were bought by Clara who resorted to using his baby face and blink her eyes cutely to get people's empathy.

"Won't you buy this dress for your sister, she obviously loved it", a trader could not help but say. Other traders captured by her charm also supported her. Some even gave her gifts. The money they spent was almost tens of silver coins they just paid using money allegedly stolen from the Baroness. They continued until the hustle and bustle of the market decreased and various traders started packing their goods, it was then that they know that it was evening already.
