Against all Odds

“Oh my God, that was a close one,” Phoebe said under her breath, drawing back just enough to search Seth’s gaze. The worries left her lips, and she looked into his face expecting to find confidence, but instead she saw confusion, anger, and fear. He nodded, unable to say anything and wrapped her in a tighter embrace.

Christian went to them slowly, looking at the mess that had been created. “From now on we will enhance security for both of you,” he stated, scowling and grinding his teeth. “There will be no other opportunity for Marlin to get such a good chance.”

Seth stared at the door through which Marlin had been carried; he nodded at the words spoken to him. “He’ll come back,” Seth said more to himself than to the others. Many a man like him does not surrender as a result of a simple issue like that. We have to be prepared.”
