Eddie quickly downed a tall glass of beer, feeling a sense of relief he hadn’t experienced in days. Jennifer’s return to New York had lifted a heavy burden off his shoulders. He no longer had to constantly worry about her getting into trouble or spiraling deeper into her heartbreak.

"Where's your sister? Usually, she's already seated there, ready to flirt with the guys who come," Deon, Eddie's friend and coworker, asked as he joined him at the bar.

"She's back in New York," Eddie replied, a hint of relief in his voice. "That's why I can relax. Otherwise, when I come back from work, or when I have time off like now, I'd definitely be busy keeping an eye on her."

"I see. By the way, I want to offer you a job. You might be interested, because from the looks of it, you don't seem suited to be in a bar," Deon remarked, a sly grin spreading across his face.
