The compound buzzed with activity as the dust settled from the battle. Makeshift medical stations had been set up, tending to the wounded from both sides. Jaden moved through the chaos, shadows coiling around him protectively as he assessed the damage.

"Status report," he called out to Reeves, who was coordinating with the military personnel who had laid down arms.

Reeves looked up from a tablet, his face grim. "Twelve injured on our side, three critical. The military took heavier losses. Their enhanced soldiers... something went wrong with their powers during the fight."

Jaden nodded, a knot forming in his stomach. The weaponization of abilities was a dangerous game, one that could backfire catastrophically.

"And Alex?" he asked, his voice low.

Reeves jerked his head towards the central bunker. "Still in there. Zoe's with him. Jaden... he's not stable. Whatever he's become, it's taking a toll."
