Ch 15: Death would have been best

Naruth takes a few steps forward getting a little closer as it was asked by Adraah this wood elf woman standing up on the bed she was in.

They haven’t had many chances in seeing each other through the passing years, meaning because of the things Adraah had to suffer with the loss of her son and husband.

“So tell me Naruth what brings you to see me, not that I am not happy about this meeting.”

“I came to tell you that I will be leaving home.”

“Oh, why is that dear.”

“It to find Ethons and bring him back home.”

Hearing her boy's name causes a little pain to this wood elf woman's heart along with almost shedding a tear.

“I see and you are completely set on doing this going against your mother who no doubt wasn’t pleased with the idea.”

“I am as if it wasn't right to what happened to Ethons and that of your….”

Naruth stops herself before saying another word that could cause further unnecessary pain.

“It's fine my husband chose at the time to accept the outcome of not doing what our queen commanded him to do.”

“But how could any wood elf parent do it when placed in a situation like that to kill their child because of the misfortune inside them. I don’t believe any would go through it”

“Naruth your mother is the queen that rules us and must focus on the needs and safety of her people. I couldn’t agree on that night when my husband came for Ethons telling him not to do it begging that he instead take our boy away from here to live somewhere else and no one has to know.”

Adraah turns her head to the side looking through the window at the beauty outside.

“Then again what would occur to us would be the punishment my husband had or something far worse.

“Adraah what are you talking about here.”

“I tell you this, I will always love Ethons no matter what, but in the years moving on thinking about the whole thing over and over again coming to an answer being there from the start.”

“What is the answer? You come to find it while thinking.”

Adraah turns back to Naruth with a serious expression on his face to be seen by the girl.

“Death should have been best for the boy.”

“No! You don’t mean that it can’t be true to believe in that as his mother.”

“I know it is cruel to say this, but there is no other way a cursed dragon born must be put to death.”

“Yet why does that have to be my mother, the people here and now you all think that to be the way not seeking out any other possibility to something better.”

The tone of voice from Naruth was rising, getting upset at the conversation happening in this room.

“Do you know the era of the cursed dragon born starting from birth and the result of its beginning?”

“No, But I am not going to stand here to listen to the story of someone who needs to be brought back home.”

Naruth turned her back leaving by taking one step forward until Adraah called out to the girl.

“Naruth, wait.”

“Why should this talk be done? There isn’t a need to go any longer speaking with each other.”

“I understand how you can feel now from my words, but listen to this if you find Ethons tell him that, I miss and love him dearly wishing the best for the boy when outside.”

“There is no reason for me to bring this message to him, I am going to bring him home don’t you get it.”

Naruth turned back with an angry face for Adraah to stare at as the wood elf woman let out a sigh.

“Your mother isn’t going to allow that she will do everything in her power to keep Ethons out even more to kill him herself.”

“My mother would have to go through me first before any of that development. Besides, we will find a way to get the soul of that dragon out of him.”

Adraah closed her eyes for a moment before reopening them to say a few more words to bring this to an end.

“Then all I can say at this point is to wish the sprites of the earth to watch over on this journey you will be embarking on.”

After saying that she offered a hand to the girl and it was quickly grabbed by her tightly.

“Thank you Adraah, I will succeed in this that I promise you that.”

Naruth tells her as the two of them look each other in the eyes for a few seconds till it is broken off as the girl finally leaves.

Walking up to the room door, opened it, and stepped only to be stopped by Adneun who was holding a warped box in her hands.

“I made this food for you to take along to help when you are hungry out there.”

“That's very kind of you Adneun thank you it will be of good help to me.”

“That's good to hear… um, when you do meet with my brother again please tell him that his big sister misses him and hope that he is doing well.”

“Of course, but I am sure you're going to be very happy when you get to see Ethons again.”

Adneun said not another word, just smiled at Naruth who took the box and said goodbye to her leaving their home.

Now just Adneun and her mother the girl takes a cup to the woman in bed as she drinks from it.

“Mother, do you think she may find him?”

“I think the girl can and will, but I am worried about how much it is going to affect us and our people.”

“Is it wrong that I don’t wish for my younger brother to come back at all to stay away?”

“Do you still blame Ethons for what has happened to your father?”

Adraah asked her only daughter, but there wasn’t an answer coming out of the girl's mouth; instead, tears began to swell within those eyes of her.

As the mother of this child, she can do right now to offer Adneun her embrace, opening both arms out as the daughter took it crying into the chest.

“It's alright my child, it's alright.”

At the time Naruth was close to leaving her home but stopped to look back one more time as she had no clue how long to be gone from this place or to see her mother again.

“I will return and not alone.”

Naruth then turned back and walked forward, stepping out of the village and into the forest to start the journey ahead.

《Later at the old meet-up spot》

Naruth wanted to pay a visit to an old spot where she and Ethons will come to stop when kids are together back then.

Paying this visit is just to remind her of the good old days before everything changed.

She lays against a tree closing her eyes to replay those memories in her head for a time until the sound of another voice could be heard speaking directly where Naruth is.

“Ah-ha knew you were going to be here and just in time to before you got away.”
