Chapter 7

Lunging down, Yunzheng gathered part of the energy into his hands as he recalled a fist technique. Yet, in midair, he saw one of the liquid-like limbs fly in his direction even though he should be at the man's blind spot.

With his instinct screaming at him, Yunzheng sent the punch right at the tip of the limb and felt as if he was hitting a plate of steel. Using the little rebound of their confrontation, he flipped his body and gained more distance from his target. Still, the latter appeared to have expected the scenario and won't let him go so easily.

Two more semi transparent tentacles went their ways to stab him. In the short period of time and a brief glance, Yunzheng tried to twist his body and dodge, but they still grazed the right side of his waist and left shoulder.

Bleeding, he rushed to his opponent with the fastest speed he could muster. The world turned into a crawl and he noticed the scowl of the super, who was at least six feet tall, wearing white shirt with black jacket on top and a black cargo pants.

He was bald and there was some sort of winged tattoo symbol on his forehead. His features alone told Yunzheng that the man's foreigner, Caucasian. But what attracted Yunzheng the most were the slight twitch of a bulged vein on his neck and the side of forehead while his eyes were fixated towards Yuzzheng, following his every move.

Before he could ponder, however, four more tentacles from the man's back were aimed at him. Despite his sharpened senses and movements, he could see those limbs were just as fast as him. In this slowed space, Yunzheg tried to avoid each strike of the limb. Those that he couldn't dodge, he had to brace them up with his own forearms, reinforcing both to his fullest ability lest they would be chopped off like a tofu.

Now their distance was an arm's length away and Yunzheng couldn't miss out the opportunity. He reached out his palm and some sort of vacuum gathered before he unleashed it at the man's chest.

To his surprise, he felt like he had struck the water surface, it gave no resistance and little impact. His condensed energy also burst out of the man's back while the latter grinning, throwing a quick jab at Yunzheng's nose before he yelped in pain instead.

Nonetheless, Yunzheng still felt the trace of power contained in that fist. It made him almost flinch as he swept in a kick at the man's guts. This time unguarded, the man took the blow directly, reeling backwards with shock displaying at his grimace face.

Unexpectedly, the limb-like liquids fell apart at the same time, becoming nothing more than splashing puddles on the ground. Seeing his chance, Yunzheng followed by sending a straight fist to the man's mug, which passed through with the man's head morphed into a ball of water.

Before Yunzheng could withdraw, a sharp tingle spread all over his hand and subconsciously, he wholly focused his energy to reinforce it.

With enough time and effort, Yunzheng pulled his hand out. Anger flashed in his gaze and he felt his blood boil. In just the first day of his resurrection, he almost lost his dominant hand. If it was the past he could deal with hundreds of opponents of this caliber.

This won't do. The Crimson Tempest shouldn't be this weak.

As if screaming out his rage and annoyance, Yunzheng lunged at the man and spared no energy, bringing out every flow and drop within for a quick burst of power. His action didn't disappoint him, for after he executed half of the might of his movement steps, along with a few blows of punching technique, he found his opponent battered in seconds. Unable to react fast enough for him.

Just right he twisted the man's neck, bringing a good closure to the fight, he felt a heavy sense of drowsiness spreading inside. To the point he had to stand straight, if not for the fact that his mental fortitude was already polished from decades of battles and life experiences.

Despite the arduous steps, he still walked to the corpse and placed his hand at the man's forehead. Executing the absorbing technique, Yunzheng felt the surge of energy pouring to him, like a rain to dry desert and he took them all like a sponge.

His attention deprived body felt as boisterous as ever and the injuries he had were slowly healing too. If it wasn't for Yunzheng not bothering to use a technique specialized in healing, he would be healthy in no less than a minute.

Time passed and before Yunzheng knew it, turbid air was exhaled out of his mouth and he felt the swirling energy within, surrounding his filled Dantian and ran amok inside his body.

"...Superb."

That was the only word Yunzheng could say to describe this feeling. He was all set to go to the next level. However, he might need to leave the wrecked crime scene before things start to become troublesome.

A single jump was all it took for him to get to the rooftop, feeling he was more than riding the wind, he was the wind itself. He couldn't feel lighter anymore and it was a weird thought, considering this was something that wasn't worth mentioning back when he was in the cultivation world.

As he didn't hear any students yet, he went for at least ten miles away until he stopped, afraid that he might waste too much energy in just running. A problem that shouldn't have crossed his mind before. A sigh came out and he shook his head, dispelling the stray notions and focused on his current next task.

The Core Crystallization cycle, the next realm of Physical Strengthening, here he goes.
