Chapter 7. Complicated Problem

Unable to tolerate Cleo's behavior, Dennis's threat was heard immediately. "Get out, Cleo, or I'll make your career even more ruined!"

Cleo was shocked to hear Dennis's words and finally just surrendered when the security guards dragged her hands to Dennis's luxurious house's gate. "What?"

Cleo finally left Dennis's house after being escorted by the security guards to her car. During the journey, her eyes continued to be teary, feeling foolish for her behavior in front of Dennis, who was angry with her.

As the car she was driving almost arrived in front of her house, suddenly, many text messages came in, and her eyes immediately glanced at the screen.

"[Your contacts have been canceled. Sorry Cleo, but you're boycotted because of your affair, Cleo]."

Cleo became even more aware of her mistakes and regretted ever hurting Dennis so much with her affair.

"He's even more ruthless than I imagined."

Cleo's weary legs then stepped into the house, and she sat on the sofa with her head bowed. Tears flowed freely, wetting her cheeks, and Cory, who was still in his seat, could only guess what Cleo was feeling.

"Don't worry. I still have a football career. They will pay me. I'm still here. Just calm down."

Hearing Cory's words, Cleo smiled and expressed her hope. "I hope your career won't be as ruined as mine."

Cory approached Cleo and hugged her gently to uplift her spirits. "My father is one of the shareholders in the club; Dennis wouldn't dare to bench me, Cleo."

Cleo hugged Cory gently, knowing it was too late to apologize to Dennis, but at least she still had Cory to accompany her in her bad times.

The next day, as usual, Cory hurried to the stadium to prepare for training.

Vanguard Fire Club still had matches scheduled in the Libertalia League this season, and Cory hoped he could maintain his performance so that by the end of the season, he could move to an even better club next year.

That morning, Cory quickly tidied his jersey and tied his shoes tightly. The 180 cm tall man looked so handsome, with sweat beads dampening his forehead, making him look even more macho. "I have to warm up before the others arrive."

Cory began to run around the soccer field, its grass looking green, while at another corner of the stadium, Dennis's eyes were staring at him sharply, full of anger.

Romaria saw that gaze and approached Dennis, who had not yet given her any instructions for the day. "Is there anything I should do today, Sir?"

Dennis smiled thinly at the question from his assistant, then turned his attention back to Cory, who was so confident on the field far away from him. "Just leave it for now. I want to see how well he maintains his performance on the field."

Romaria nodded quickly, then stepped back before turning her body towards the door. "If you need anything, just tell me,"

Dennis didn't respond to Romaria's words. He resumed watching Cory, who appeared to be confidently running towards the older man, who was none other than Owen Anderson, Cory's biological father and also the largest shareholder in the Vanguard Fire Club.

Owen waved his hand and warmly embraced Cory. "How are you, Son?"

Cory smiled broadly at his father's question. "I'm fine, Dad. It's good you're here; there's something I want to ask you,"

Owen glanced towards the club president's office, confident that Dennis was watching them. "Let's just leave this place. The eagle eyes are watching us,"

Cory tried to glance at Owen's eyes, but the older man quickly pulled his son's shoulder. "Don't look suspicious in front of that evil man. Let's just leave here; after all, training starts in 40 minutes."

Cory nodded quickly and followed Owen's footsteps.

Cory and Owen then sat in a spectator seat that couldn't be seen from where Dennis was. Owen then started a conversation with Cory. "I hope you're careful with him, Son."

Cory squeezed his father's hand. "Yes, Dad. But why is he suddenly in that position? Who is he?"

Owen shook his head quickly. "I don't know. Suddenly, all the shareholders were informed that there was a new president in the club, and as far as I know, he's the disabled man we used to bully, right?"

Cory furrowed his brow. "It's impossible for him to suddenly be in that position, Dad. Not to mention, he managed to embarrass Cleo to death when our video of us having sex spread so quickly."

Owen sighed heavily. He always looked towards Cory, who was in big trouble. "We don't know what will happen next. Just be careful. I don't want him to ruin your career like Dennis did to Cleo."

Cory nodded. "Yes, I'll be careful."

Owen patted Cory's shoulder with a wide smile. "I know this isn't easy for you, but rest assured, I'll do my best to support you in your current position. Just focus on training diligently and prove to everyone that this case won't get you benched."

Cory breathed a sigh of relief, hearing his father's words. "Thank you, Dad. I'll train hard for the rest of this season."

Owen chuckled lightly at his son's sweet words. "Good, Son. Do your best; I'll take care of the rest."

Cory returned to the field after his conversation with Owen ended, feeling relieved because even though he was facing one problem after another, he still had a supportive father.

Cory's smile widened as Rob Juan, his coach, approached. The middle-aged man's face didn't look as cheerful as usual.

Cory then approached his coach. "Good morning, Coach. What's wrong with you? You seem unwell."
