Preparations [3]

Sir Hones walked down the streets of the upper district. But walking here wasn't that easy. That was why Raymond needed his help since teachers from the academy had the right to move from the middle district to the upper district.

So, Sir Hones had started looking for the person Raymond asked him to look for and get in contact with. It was one of the generals in the village and also one of the most trustworthy Raymond could think of since it was his next master after he turned 17.

Well, it was indeed true that Raymond met with him after the awakening ceremony, but their real interaction happened when Raymond graduated from the academy. In this case, he searched for a new master to learn from, and this person was the one who found his real worth.

From his memories, Raymond had a blurry vision of what his Talent was. But he knew that it had some real value since that person came into the picture of his memories.

"General McWorthy... Just how could that kid know him? Also, what does he think of himself as being able to easily grab this type of person? Even if he was a genius, I bet the General would not involve himself in these kinds of matters."

Sir Hones let out a sigh as he stopped at one estate in the upper districts. It was one-of-a-kind expensive, and that made him nervous about continuing on meeting him.

But planning was part of the game, and Raymond trusted him because he knew what he was getting into.

Sir Hones then approached a guard and immediately asked about his appointment with the General.

"Excuse me, but you can't meet with the General if you haven't made an appointment. Please make an appointment with him first." The guard said.

Sir Hones let out a sigh and asked, "How can I make one?"

"Please visit the main office of the military. You will be assisted with how you can meet with the general. He is a busy person, so I hope you understand." The guard calmly said.

"I see... I understand. I will be going now." Sir Hones was about to leave the front gate, but he remembered something.

"Ah! It is from the academy. If you ever had a chance to convey my message, please do so since it is an important matter and an urgent one."

The guard was silent as he thought of what to answer. Then, he nodded, which made Sir Hones relieved.

"I don't know if I can really convey it, but I will try. What was it?"

"Please tell the General if he wants to grow a genius hunting dog, he can meet Hones Junior in the academy."

"That's all?" The guard asked.

"Yes, that is all. I will be going now."

"Yes, sure. I hope you have a great day."

Sir Hones then continued walking and visited the main office of the military and then set an appointment with the general.

The next day, Raymond visited the practice venue, and there he met Sir Hones. He listened to his news and sighed in devastation.

"I was hoping to talk to him sooner, but we have no other choice but to wait. I just hope that it does not take much longer than I presume." Raymond mumbled in his seat while Sir Hones was on the other side of the seat.

"Let me ask you. How did you know Sir McWorthy? It is not like he is famous in the lower district since he rarely visits here. And also, what's with the message? How are you sure that he would comply with that message?"

Raymond then snickered after having a thought. 'Well, it was because I was his hunting dog in the future. His kind of training is using his disciples as hunting dogs. He was kind of an aggressive and harsh master, but it was all worth it since he had a good reputation.'

What Raymond needed from McWorthy right now wasn't the teachings he could have, but the reputation he could use from him. That kind of reputation in the military is an important one and should not be underestimated.

And having him as his backer was also a dream come true for people who come from poor families.

Raymond made a smile and replied, "It is because I just. I can't reveal my secret, sir."

"I understand. Then we should only wait a few days until we get a call from the general."

Disheartened by it, Raymond decided to accept the fact that he had to wait until the general contacted Sir Hones. After all, he still had shorthand, and if he wanted to make small gaps in his ladder, slowly climbing, it would take the same time.

So, as a middleman, Sir Hones also had to wait for the general.

"What a shame... I was hoping to meet him today. But let's not be discouraged by it again. Time will come, and it won't be that long. I think...?"

After Raymond trained, he went back home and was greeted by his family.

"How was the practice, Raymond?" Rowena asked.

"It was okay, mom." When Raymond finally entered their house, he then noticed how solemn Rebecca's face was.

"Lilia, what happened to big sis?" Raymond asked.

"Ah... It was because of this... she wasn't able to join a group because of some rumors spreading around." Lilia explained.

"What rumor?" Raymond asked.

"Big sis was called a whore and a bitch. What is that, big bro?"

Raymond was surprised to hear it. He instinctively gritted his teeth in irritation. Have they come to that point? They were really acting fast, and Raymond should not have stayed low right now. He should hasten his progress, even if it's only his physical abilities at this point.

"It was nothing. Don't bother thinking about any of it."

Raymond could only sigh in frustration as this matter was already affecting his family. Even if he wanted to ask for his family's cooperation, he thought that it wouldn't be the proper time since they didn't have much confidence in themselves.

"I am sorry for everything, mom. If only I had followed that Fulgran, this wouldn't have happened." Rebecca said in a low tone, which made her mother angry.

"Don't ever say that, Rebecca. You did not do any wrong with it. You just fought for your dignity." Rowena said, and later on, Rudy joined the conversation to boost Rebecca's morale.

"He is nothing without his family's background. Don't worry about it, my daughter. I will ask for some help from my friends."

Raymond then came to realize that, even in a short time, that family would not really lighten up their mood. They were destroying Raymond's family's firmness, and he didn't like it anymore.

'Ugh... If only I could tell them to endure it for a moment...'
