As frustrating as it was, Raymond had to choose what he should do. Should he continue to get the general's backing or randomly get some official's attention? He didn't have more time. He was on the edge of whether he should wait and let his family suffer, or immediately get some backing but with an uncertain future.

He let out a sigh, then as he lifted the weights inside his room, he could feel the nerves on his biceps showing. He was really irritated, but he decided to let a week pass until he decided to randomly get some backings.

After a week, no news had reached him about the general. It was devastating and a choice to choose other options.

"Why does the general take so much time to take it? I am sure that he would surely be attracted to that offer since it was connected with his secrets." Raymond stabbed a monster on their practice field.

What was helpful in the memories he got were some secrets of people he interacted within the near future. McWorthy was some kind of harsh teacher and making his student a hunting dog was taboo for the village. So at least, if he had some hint of someone who knew his secret, he would surely check it.

But why was the general still not contacting Sir Hones? It was as if they were investigating him first before approaching Sir Hones.

"Tsk... It is possible that they were investigating Sir Hones to see if he really knew his secret. Why haven't I thought of it? " Raymond contemplated.

Without any other choice, Raymond started to move on his own. If Sir Hones was investigated, he should get the investigator's attention.

Sir Hones was teaching the students of the academy in the same practice venue. His students were attentive, and as he was teaching them, someone from afar entered his field of view.

It was a human figure with its whole body covered with dark cloaks and was suspiciously looking at him. As he felt alarmed by it, he slowly left his students, acted naturally, and approached this person.

"Who is this person...?" Sir Hones asked himself.

The person gestured to call him, and it was not only there to attend to him, but it was also as if he was checking on someone nearby.

Bothered by these gestures, Sir Hones then decided to approach him with sure vigilance. It would be too late to say sorry if he saw himself lying on the floor with blood.

So, Sir Hones went to that person with his sword in his grasp.

When he got near, he still couldn't see this person's face. It had male body features, so it would be safe to assume that this person was a male.

"Come here. I have new information for you pertaining to General McWorthy." This person said something that made Sir Hones ponder.

Was this person the messenger? Then, he should converse with him since it would be key to meeting General McWorthy.

"Oh, the General? What about it?" he asked.

"I think we already found out what to do to kill him..."

Slowly, Sir Hones's eyes widened in surprise as he slowly moved backward. He felt a hostile presence nearby. He then shifted his head, forgetting about the person in the cloak, and instantly searched for the presence.

They were away from the mass. It was unsafe to fight with this hostile person, and if he died, it would be a secret from everyone.

"Tsk. What did you do-!" Sir Hones was flabbergasted when, in the next second, the person in the cloak disappeared. Raymond, on the other hand, was standing in front of him.

Sir Hones's eyes fell to the ground, and he saw the clock there. He then speculated and proved it by asking Raymond.

"You were the person in the cloak?"

Raymond nodded and followed where Sir Hones was looking earlier. With a smile, Raymond was delighted for no reason.

"What are you planning? There is someone with a hostile presence nearby, and it might kill us."

Raymond only snickered after hearing Sir Hones's words. He was confused while he was still vigilant about a sudden attack.

"It was risky, but I am thankful for those words. Didn't expect that to happen? Was the investigator just a newbie or did he bite the bait I created? "

Earlier that day, Raymond contemplated what to do in the next few days. He also wanted to know if his speculation about the investigator was indeed true. So, for a few days, he had been watching Sir Hones's surroundings to see if there was a suspicious person nearby.

And just as luck was on his side, he saw someone that had been there for a few days without doing much.

Of course, Raymond wasn't sure if it was really the investigator. So to be sure, he approached this person and asked him one thing.

"Do you believe in General McWorthy's mightiness?"

It was a question with no obvious intention, but what Raymond had in mind wasn't the context of the question but the reaction of this person. Thinking that an investigator was from the upper district, he might not know that McWorthy wasn't famous in the middle and lower districts.

With a perplexed expression, the person awkwardly answered, "Ah... of course, I believe."

"Thank you!"

That was the sign that Raymond had to check. Even if it wasn't a hundred percent sure, he had to gamble on it, and even if he failed to check if there was really an investigator, nothing was lost to him.

Then, after that, all he had to do was grab this supposed investigator's attention with Sir Hones. Since Sir Hones was his person of interest in his investigation, he would not try to approach him and expose his identity without completing the investigation.

So, another risky gamble Raymond should do, and it was to obviously trigger this investigator. And this was a conversation with Sir Hones, away from the mass, about killing McWorthy.

A common reaction would be two: the investigator would have to follow the informant, which was one of the two, Raymond was the one covered in a cloak, or just confront them in an instant without following him to make him spill the information about their hideout.

Those were the most likely. But those were just possible outcomes of this plan Raymond had. One difficult option to consider was that they might die in an instant. But what could possibly happen since he was an investigator and every piece of information was important to him.

"Raymond, what did you do?" Another question from Sir Hones.

And with a smile, being lucky and grateful that his speculation came to be true, Raymond decided to reveal his real purpose in this play.

"I am sorry to inform you that we aren't really that shady. So please, hear us out."

"..."

On the other hand, the investigator still saved his distance. And without any other choice, Raymond performed magic.

"I am still 14 years old. I was hoping to meet with General McWorthy in order to apply to be one of his men. Since I am a genius, apparently, even without awakening, I can perform magic. I am sorry, but I thought that the reason why no one contacted Sir Hones was that he was being investigated and I am exactly right."

Now... what Raymond had in mind was how to be in contact with this investigator and converse with them.
