Knowledge Is Power

Jake forced his feet to carry him into his boss's office. He didn't even bother to knock. The room was dimly lit and it was just the way his boss loved it. According to him, the ambience that was created in the room always helped him work more comfortably. Jake didn't dare to move into the room. He had to be on his best behaviour if he was to not get fired.

With his left hand by his side and his right hand raised to the door, Jake knocked slightly and prevented his lips from quivering. He watched as his boss raised his head, and immediately he saw Jake, a smile crept up on his face and the dimly lit room seemed so much brighter to Jake.

"Jake Swanson! I would have killed you if you didn't come in early. Why are you standing by the door? Come on in." The man spoke with so much vigour that Jake was compelled to move his feet. He forced a smile as he moved into the room and took a seat.
