"Babe, look at this." Susan turned her face to her boyfriend, Lex face and handed her phone to him. "It's a video of Jake and he is almost trending."
"So why are you interested? What? Do you want him back now?"
"No of course not." Susan said with a sigh. "Just take a look it." Lex finally collected the phone from her and looked at the content. He couldn't believe his eyes. Jake's friend actually played a prank on him.
"I feel so much pity for the guy. He has been through a lot and I think it's all because of me. Maybe I should call him to apologize, I did speak rather rudely to him when he found out." Susan said in a sober voice.
"You have got to be kidding me. Look, if you want the idiot back just say so, stop beating around the bush. And while you are going back to him, do well to remember that he can't give you all that I can." Lex stood up from the bed and walked to the door. "And don't come back when you leave." That was the last thing he said before he banged the door shut.
Susan sat on the bed wondering what she said to get him so riled up. Lex walked with speed towards his system. He downloaded the video of Jake being pranked and cropped out the part where the police found out that the substance was just powder, when he was done he called his friend in the force.
"I have something for you."
"Bring it down to the station then."
They have been friends for a long time and maybe it's because they also go straight to the point whenever they wanted to talk. They both understood each other. Both men were very busy and did not have time to exchange pleasantries whenever they meet.
Lex drove speedily to the police station and in few minutes, he was in the station asking for Officer Stiles. The man walked up to him, it made Lex to know that he had already sighted him come in.
"Let's go to a quite place." Stiles said as he walked in front of Lex, leading him to the investigation room. He shut the door and finally asked Lex.
"So what do you have for me?" Stiles wasn't a pretty man but he wasn't a bad sight to behold either. His eyes were empty because of the number of times he had seen terrible things happen in his town. Stiles decided, after witnessing so much horror, to retire from the force. But after a day of staying at home with no cat, no dog, no daughter, no son, no wife, he knew that he would end up killing himself. So he stayed at a job that he did not like but a job that he was mostly appreciated for.
"It's a video of a guy I want you to deal with." Lex said with so much anger in his voice.
"What did he do?"
"He is Susan's ex and Susan is thinking of going back to him. I cannot let that happen."
Stiles knew the kind of man Lex was. He was the green snake in the green grass. He was about counting the number of times he has done shady business for him but Lex next words stopped him.
"He got arrested for selling of drugs but it wasn't actually drugs. It was just powder. But the video I have doesn't make it look that way. Can you get him arrested for it?"
Doing shady business for Lex was one of the reasons Stiles stayed in the force. It was one of the things that gave meaning to his life.
"Of course." Lex smiled, stood up and after giving Stiles his address, he was gone.
Jake woke up to the banging of his door. He crawled out of bed and threw on a robe and opened the door. He saw a slender man flashing an ID card in front of him.
"Jake Swanson. I'm officer Stiles. You are under arrest for the possession and selling of hard drugs. You have the right to remain silent cause whatever you say or do could be used against you in the court of law."
Jake took a minute to absorb all what the man said and then he laughed.
"Nice one Marion. Are you that broke that you would repeat the same prank again just to gain viewers on your stupid channel?"
"Put your hands behind your back sir."
Jake finally steadied his eyes on the man. "How much is he paying you for this?"
"Okay that's it. " Officer Stiles forced Jake's hands behind his back and placed the handcuffs on him. He dragged a screaming Jake to his car and tried to silence out his screaming by listening to a heavy metal song all the way to the police station. When they arrived the police station, he dragged Jake into a jail and locked him inside.
"What the hell is going on here? Let me out of here, I didn't do anything."
"Not according to the video we have."
"What video? What the stupid video till the end, then you will see that it was just a stupid prank."
Officer Stiles left Jake in the jail without so much as listening to another word that came out of his mind.
Jake did not understand what was going on. He could not comprehend why Marion would go to this level just to hurt him.
I swear, once I get out of here I am going to kill him.
Jake sat on the cold cell floor thinking of how he was going to get himself out of the mess his friends had put him in. He didn't have any relative to call and now he didn't have any friends either. He just hoped he would be able to convince the judge that he wasn't involved in anything he is being accused of.
"Jake Swanson! There is a man here to see you."
Jake didn't know anybody and walking down to the counter, he saw a man who he hasn't met before smiling at him.
"Hello, Mr. Jake. I have been searching for you for a long time now." The man said while smiling.
"I'm sorry, who are you?" Jake stuttered as he spoke."Don't be afraid Mr. Jake. My name is Sebastian Stanley and I'm a lawyer. In fact, I am your family's lawyer.""My family?""Yes.""See now I know that you playing with me because my family doesn't want me, they threw me away when I was little....""After the death of your aunt. Yes I know all that." He still had that smile on his face and this unnerved Jake the more."Did Marion set you up to this?" That guy had it out for him and Jake was still struggling to understand why."No, but it is because of his video that I've been able to locate you. Can we go somewhere private to talk?""Even if I wanted to man, I can't. I'm in jail for selling drugs.""Not anymore. I sorted out your bail. You are free to go." Just the a police man came to him and removed the handcuffs from his hand."See? You're free to go. Now can we go somewhere quite." Jake didn't know who the strange man was but he had a feeling that he was going to love him. "Le
Amanda looked out of the car window, completely ignoring the man that was sending seductively signals her way. She was not ready to engage in any sort of conversation with anyone. All she wanted was to meet with her girls and prepare to go for the party that promised to be the biggest of the month. The man pulled up at her friend, Bethany's house and she wasted no time in paying the man and leaving his car. She knew by his body signals that he wanted to engage her in a conversation but he wasn't going to have any of it."Amanda!" Bethany screamed as she opened the door to her best friend. She had seen her come in from the window. She was excited to see her but not so excited to not notice that she was using an Uber."Girl, what happened to your car?" "My idiotic father took it from me. Told me that I had to learn some manner before it would be given back to me." She said as she barged into the house and Bethany closed the door behind her."Are you serious?" Bethany asked as she follo
Amanda woke up to a beer bottle on her stomach. The sun had found a way into the parlour which was beginning to smell like alcohol. Amanda managed to lift her hand as she looked across the room, she saw Bethany and Jane lying on the sofa opposite hers. Standing up, she hit Bethany on the hit to wake her up."Girl, what the hell?""You are a bad older sister. How could you get hammered with your little sisters in the house?" Bethany rubbed her eyes with her hand and she could finally see the sight of Amanda staring back at her made her want to throw up. "Will you stop looking at me like that? You got hammered too!" "And that's because you didn't stop me at all," Amanda said as she crossed over to the kitchen. Bethany watched her as she fixed a cup of coffee for both of them. "I'm going to check on my siblings." "Oh now you want to be a good big sister," Amanda taunted her as she opened the cabinet that she knew they stored the drugs, removed an aspirin and swallowed it."They are f
"Excuse me ma but that is not a way to talk to someone. I was just telling you not to throw up here." "And what will happen if I do." There was nothing that Amanda hated more than people telling her what she could and could not do. Especially strangers. "Well, you will have to clean it up yourself." Jake was still fazed at how such a beautiful lady could have such a bad character. "And isn't that why you are here? To clean up after people's mess?" "I will have you know that I am a fashion designer in this fine establishment.""Oh honey, if you call this," she motioned her hand around the building, "a fine establishment, then you are yet to see the world."Jake's face had gotten red. He knew that the building wasn't state-of-the-art but he never expected that it could be pointed out to him in such a vile manner. "And what are you doing here? Since you obviously have so much class than everyone in here, why have her majesty found her way into the suburbs?" "Oh, believe me, left fo
The cab driver dropped Amanda outside her home and she reluctantly got out of the car. The gate door was open, much to her pleasure because now she could avoid small talks with the gateman. But unfortunately, her mother had already sighted her coming back and couldn't wait to eat her alive. "Amanda Cash, where are you coming from?" Amanda sighed as she saw her mother rushing down the small stairs that led to their lawn with an angry look on her face. "Mom, I spent the night at Bethany's place." "And that young girl is the type of thing you run by me and your father first before you do.""Why? Mom, it's Bethany. Not a stranger.""I don't care if it's your aunty. You do not leave this house without telling us where you went and not caring so much as to pick up your calls. Do you understand?" "Yes, mom," Amanda said as she hung her head low. "Now, your father is very much upset with you. Mostly because he wanted to tell you something last night but you were nowhere to be found. So
Amanda slammed the door to her room as she jumped on her bed and cried. She cried till she was sure that her eyes were swollen shut but still she cried. She could hear someone creep into her room and she didn't need any soothsayer to tell her who it was."Honey, I know it sounds bad but it's totally accomplishable," her mother said gently. Amanda scoffed and finally removed her head from her pillow. "Seriously mom? Where am I supposed to find a husband in the next two months? Dad is just doing this because he wants me to come work for him at that stupid company and I will not. I will never do it, mom.""Listen, I will have you know that that stupid company is what is paying for your bills and funding this rich lifestyle of yours. So if you were to learn how it works, it won't be a bad idea." Amanda couldn't believe the words coming out of her mother's lips, she was used to the woman being lukewarm about working like she was. After all, she was a full-time housewife who had gotten lu
Jake smiled as he saw the exact reaction he wanted to get out of her. He needed her to feel the pain that he was sure she dished out to people on a daily basis. He removed his phone and sent a text to Sebastian.Hey dude, I'm about to be arrested. Can you find the station they are taking me to and come bail me out? I have plans of eating sushi this evening and you know how much I love Chinese. So please hurry up. Thanks.Immediately he pressed send, he heard the sirens coming and he saw a victorious look on Amanda's face. She was very beautiful, he couldn't deny it. He hoped that maybe they could be closer, but she would have to change that ugly attitude of hers first. But then again, maybe he was the one meant to change it. He would still love to be with her despite her rude behaviour. He knew that he could tame her and he wanted to. "Yes, officer please take him away. He assaulted me," Amanda said while faking a tantrum. The men wasted no time in taking him away but the smile that
Jake looked at Amanda and he couldn't believe what she just told him to do. Was she that desperate for a man that she would force a total stranger into getting married to her? "You're joking right?" "Did I stutter?" She responded to his question."So you want me, a stranger who you hate, to date you and then get married to you? Why?""You are not in the position to be asking questions. Are you going to do it?" "Can I have some time to think about it?" Jake said after he had looked at Amanda sceptically and knew that she was up to something."Yeah, you only have five minutes. And your time starts now," Amanda said, looking at her phone. She knew that if she left him there, he would find a way to leave on his own. She couldn't take the risk. He was her only hope but he didn't have to find that out."Okay, times up. So what have you decided?" "First, nobody can make such an important decision in less than five minutes and second, I'll get to date you but I'm not so sure about the mar
