The immediate response of his wife made his mouth distort in disbelief. Seeing no other way out, he dropped to his knees and pleaded to Jackson. “I’m very sorry, young master. I was too blind to see your brilliance. Please forg…!”
Jackson didn’t even let him finish; he snapped his fingers and snorted coldly.
“Get lost! Loser!”
The men in black suits had no choice. They grabbed him and dragged him out of the restaurant. The beautiful woman, who was by his side, stayed back and watched the entire thing unfold in front of her. When she tried to take a step, Jackson’s icy eyes froze the blood in her veins.
Still in disbelief at what happened in front of her moments ago, words refused to leave her mouth. She looked around and everyone avoided her gaze. As Jackson walked towards her, she lost all strength to her knees.
Jackson swiftly grabbed her waist and supported her. He pulled her close and stared into her frightened eyes. His voice echoed coldly in her ears, sending shivers down her spine.
“Do you still need me to clean your toilet, Madam?”
He gently let go of her, but still kept his distance a breath away from her ears. His breath tickled her, making her flinch. “I’ll be gentle. How do you want to apologize?”
He walked past her, with his voice audible only to her. “Come find me later!”
He picked up the phone again. “One more thing. Will you get here in the next thirty minutes? I have something to discuss with you.”
“I’m really sorry, but I’m currently out of town and it’ll take longer than that, but my daughter is close. Is it acceptable if it’s her?”
Jackson pondered for a while. “Can she make business decisions?”
“I will allow it!”
Jackson’s eyes gleamed. “Very well. Thirty minutes!”
Jackson didn’t wait for long, when a young woman in her twenties walked into the restaurant a few minutes later. She took off her sunglasses, revealing a pair of mesmerizing emerald eyes. Jackson blushed at the sight of her, but he quickly discarded any unnecessary thoughts.
Her elegant walk seemed like a dance, as if she floated towards him. She stood in front of him and checked him from top to bottom. She clicked her tongue and sat across from him.
“Nice to meet you, Ms. Walker…”
She raised her hand and interrupted him. “Call me Naomi. So…”
“Tomorrow night, I’ll be your plus one for the engagement party of Hannah Kraft!”
“Huh? What are you talking about? I’m not going to that… Wait, how…”
Jackson smirked. “This is my condition!”
Naomi gasped. She never thought that a stranger would know about that. It was a secret meant to stay buried, since it was such a shameful experience. All along, Jackson’s ploy was to get near the daughter of the Walker family when he heard of the situation.
Thanks to Mr Pearl’s connections, he got what he needed in only five minutes. This kind of power frightened Jackson, but then again, if that person was greedy, there was no way for him to be in that position. He felt thankful in his heart they were on the same side.
Naomi fidgeted for several seconds. She blushingly looked down, ashamed of what she had gone through. Her demeanor changed dramatically, and her emerald eyes welled up. Her soft voice, barely audible, reached Jackson’s ears.
“I’m not going…”
Jackson pulled an envelope out of his jacket and pushed it in front of her.
“As promised, these are the papers of ownership. Your restaurant will proceed as planned.”
Naomi took the envelope, opened it, and read it. “Why give me this now? This is your advantage, is it not?”
Jackson chuckled. “Don’t flatter yourself. Do you actually think someone with my connections needed to go through all this trouble? I just thought you would want to witness how I wreck their engagement!”
“What do you have against them?”
Jackson scoffed. “Does it matter?”
Naomi remained silent. Indeed, someone who had the power to get to their restaurants with a single dollar had more than enough power to crush the engagement party. ‘Wrecking the engagement sounds tempting!’
“Anyway, I better get going. My number is on the back of the envelope. I’ll pick you up!”
Jackson was about to open the door when Naomi called out. “It’s a black-tie event where the guests are required to wear masks. I’ll be ready by seven.”
Jackson waved her goodbye with a satisfied smile on his face.
***
The following night, Jackson arrived in front of the Jade Palace, the only seven-star hotel in the country, with his luxurious sports cart. The metallic black color glistened the streetlights. He got off, went to the other side, and opened the door for Naomi.
He held out his hand. No surprise, she ignores his hand. The valet standing outside hurriedly rushed to Jackson to get the keys and park his car.
They stood in front of the domineering hotel. He felt the girl next to him shivering and held her hand. “Are you ready?”
“This is all for my family!”
Jackson gently caressed her hand. His voice came out soothing. “Are you familiar with the term' battle of attrition?”
It was a simple stroke on the back of her hand, but for reasons she couldn’t explain, an excitement ran through her spine. His touch brought about an electric current throughout her body.
“You patiently wait for the right time to strike back.”
He put his hand on her slender waist and gently caressed her back, making her blush. “Trust me, Naomi. I’ll take care of them.”
They put on their masks and walked inside. Naomi clung to his hand. Once they walked into the lobby, they garnered everyone’s attention. For one, they didn’t expect Naomi Walker to attend. It would be too humiliating. Not only did she go, but she even brought a date with her. The people there formed sinister smiles on their faces.
Jackson expected this to happen. He felt sorry for the girl. At the moment, he could only tighten his grip and show his presence.
Moments later, two young men approached Naomi, and didn't even notice Jackson’s presence. Their voices were loud enough for everyone to hear.
“I can’t believe you actually showed up!”
While the girl shivered from what he just said, one youth showed a shocked expression on his face. He nudged the other next to him. “Hey, look. She came with a guy!”
“Hahahah! How brazen!”
“Shaming you once wasn’t enough? I’m sure we can find a lady or two for this guy!”
The last line caused everyone’s laughter.
Jackson turned to Naomi and asked her in a loud enough voice for everyone to hear. “Who are the idiots?”
“How dare you…”
Naomi whispered in his ear. “They are from the Adams family. The… The groom is their cousin!”
‘Adam family, huh? I didn’t expect this, it’s getting more interesting’ said Jackson
In silence, he pulled out his phone and dialed. It rang twice and on the other line, a gasping voice picked up. “Ah, Mr. Pearl. I want to spend a dollar!”
Mr. Pearl immediately asked. “Who?!”
“Adams!”
“Five minutes, sir!”
“Do it in two and you can keep half!”
“I-I’ll do my best, young master!”
The onlookers looked surprised. When the phone call was over, they burst into laughs. Naomi pulled his sleeve. “What are you doing?”
Jackson chuckled. “Just wait and see. I give it two minutes!”
In the meantime, the two cousins of the Adams Family kept ridiculing Naomi and Jackson. They ignored them until the last second, when everyone in the lobby received notifications on their phones.
[The Adams Family’s flagship hotel, Jade Palace, was just auctioned for one dollar!]
A chandelier hovered over the lobby, laced in gold, looking down on those beneath it. Its steady light shone in every corner. Red carpets and black glistening marble decorated the floor. The panic ensued by Jackson’s phone call trampled through the tranquil atmosphere in seconds. The crowd murmured about the mysterious person with such an enormous power. The two youngsters of the Adams family looked at each other with visible horror in their eyes. Naomi shared the same expression on her face. She knew what he was capable of, but her measly family’s restaurant was nothing compared to the prestigious Jade Palace. “Oh, my! Who might you be?” The crowd became silent as a couple approached them. Jackson recognized them. How could he not? They were Hannah Kraft’s parents, his parents-in-law. Jackson swallowed his pride and anger. “Good evening, madam!” She tried to maintain her manners in front of the young man who bought the Jade Palace with a dollar. Even though she wore a mask, sh
The following day, Jackson woke up in his bed. What surprised him were the two emerald eyes staring at him. Her soft voice tickled his ears. “Good morning!” Her luscious lips touched his cheek, leaving a wet sensation on his skin. With blood filling his head, turning his face crimson, he uttered. “Good morning…” The girl buried herself in his arms. A comfortable warmth produced by their bare skins under the sheets excited them both. Wasting no time, Naomi got on top of him and landed a long kiss on his lips. Jackson could only embrace her and accept it. *** A week has passed since the events at Jade Palace. The Adams Family pleaded multiple times at the bank, but Mr. Pearl refused to meet with them. Rake Adams approached Naomi at her family’s restaurant, hoping to reconcile. Instead, she proudly kicked him out. As for the Kraft family, they had daily meetings, trying to figure out ways to regain the young man from the Raven family as their son-in-law. The days went on like th
The patriarch scoffed. “Teaching some manners to your idiot son. I can teach you too!” Jackson waved his hand. “It’s ok, patriarch. We can talk, but can we please do something about the noise?” He looked at his fuming uncle straight in the eyes and sneered. “It’s annoying!” The patriarch kicked them out of the meeting room. The only people inside were Jackson and his grandfather, along with his new wife. If the old man was a little past his sixties, that woman was in her thirties. Her snake-like body leaned at the table next to Jackson. Her curvy body could strike any man who dared to look at her. The patriarch looked at Jackson. At first, Jackson got his attention by mentioning the new project, but the longer he thought about it and looking at his cheap attire, the more he doubted him. “So, tell me what kind of job you got there?” “Ah, yes. I will scout and recruit people for the new project. Since you guys were my family once…” The old patriarch sweated. He interrupted
The tranquility of the garden met the patriarch’s fury when his thunderous voice silenced even the chirping birds. With a hint of sarcasm in his voice, the first son scolded. “My men saw her entering his apartment about an hour ago. She still hasn’t come out!” “That ungrateful wench! Let her come back, and I’ll show her who’s the boss!” “What about Jackson?” “He’ll get what’s coming to him. We just must be a little patient with the little fiend!” Not even a second passed and the alluring woman with the raven hair joined them at the kiosk. “What are you guys doing out here? The sun is scorching.” The old patriarch glared at his son, who hurriedly picked up his phone and called his men. “What’s the situation?” [Yes sir. She’s still in there!] The first son looked at the woman in front of him, confused. “A-Are you sure?” [Yes, sir!] He looked at his father and shook his head. *** At Jackson’s apartment, a woman peeks through the curtain, making sure the black cars foll
Only the crackling wood in the fireplace broke the silence of the grand dining hall. Jackson sneaked a few glances around the room. The stoic master, Damien Shaw, enjoyed his rustic soup, whereas his beautiful daughter simply dipped her bread. The dining room was large. Only three people enjoyed the table in the middle, which was big enough for a dozen people. Over their heads a shining chandelier with candles which illuminated the entire room. A few doors scattered about, guarded by muscular men in suits, and the windows had velvet crimson drapes guarding them from the outside world. Jackson was sure the sky darkened, but he had no way of confirming it. His fast-beating heart wouldn’t rest. He ate nervously while monitoring the situation. He quenched his thirst with a full glass of wine. Apparently, the alcohol eased his racing mind. Damien Shaw coughed to get their attention. His voice hinted at a sense of self-discipline, which Jackson lacked. “My Rina said she had a chat wit
Two days after he had dinner with Damien Shaw, Jackson and Alicia Shaw arrived at the headquarters of Rikelia Group. A long drive to Borealis Valley, the home of multinational conglomerates. Anyone with a business wants their base amongst the big names of the corporate world. Though he’s the heir of the Rikelia Group, He has yet to unveil his identity to the public. At the entrance of the imposing building, a group of youngsters stood in his path. They glared at the girl. Alicia Shaw didn’t have the same allure as her sister, but she had a unique charm and unparalleled beauty. Silky long raven hair tied to a bun and blue eyes. Her elegance and demeanor mesmerized anyone who stole a glimpse of her. Her gray skirt which reached her knees, perfectly toned to her hips. A buttoned white shirt left much to be desired when one realized she playfully exposed her enticing neckline. A woman like that stood next to a young man with a cheap jacket on top of a white t-shirt and jeans. In the
The young woman behind the reception desk gasped. She couldn't believe her eyes. For the first time, she witnessed Mrs. Aria lowering her head to an unknown younger man. Jeremiah Ivory’s jaw dropped when he saw this. Fumed with rage and jealousy. He stood in front of Mrs. Aria. “Mrs. Aria, I…” He didn’t even have time to finish his sentence when a slap landed on his face and threw him over the reception counter. Unfazed, Mrs. Aria glared at him. It instantly froze the blood in his veins. She then turned to Jackson and smiled. “Mr. Taylor, what took you so long? Did something happen?” The young woman thought she was screwd, she couldn't raise her head up. Jackson saw her hands are shaking.“Mr Ivory and I had a bit misunderstoood” He said simply with a smirk on his face. She was grateful that Jackson didn't blame her or she would lose everything. Jeremiah Ivory leaped over the counter. “Out of the way, servant!” He pushed Jackson to the side and stood in front of the woman.
Towards the end of the meeting, Jackson kept staring at the Lord of the Ivory House. That man was who Jackson aspired to be. His way of speech and movement had an elegance Jackson craved. After exchanging goodbyes with Mrs. Aria, the youths left the building of the Rikelia Group. Alicia noticed the sluggish movement of Jackson. “What’s going on?” He looked at his arms, then his torso, and uttered in a disgruntled tone. “I think I need new clothes…” Alicia chuckled. “It just so happens, I know a place.” “Great! Surprise me then!” After a few hours' drive, Jackson got the surprise he asked for, unlike anything he thought it would be. “Are you sure about this?” He expected to see a luxurious shop of several hundred square meters. Instead, it was a small building with a sign filled with smudges and molded bricks. Alicia nodded in silence. He took a deep breath and walked in. Unlike the exterior, inside it was pristine. A young man hurriedly walked towards them and greeted them.
The policeman grabbed Jackson’s hand. With a solemn expression, he uttered. “Please come quietly. The homeless man passed away. I have to bring you in for questioning.” The young man stood next to the policeman with his hands crossed and a grin painted on his face. He rolled his eyes and sneered. “Serves you right!” Jackson remained unfazed. He didn’t commit the crimes they suggested, but he still felt a knot in his stomach. “I’ll go with you, but none of your claims are correct.” Without a single word leaving his mouth, the policeman approached Jackson and cuffed him. He then turned to the grinning young man. “We got him, young Master Bacco.” With hurried steps, the wealthy young man closed the distance between him and the overjoyed policeman, then smacked him on the head. He leaned to his ear and whispered. “Shut up, idiot! Just take him away…” “Y-Yes sir!” Right then, Jackson’s worries were justified by that minor exchange between those two. Instead of talking his way out of
Screech! The sharp sound of the tires against the asphalt and burning rubber from the friction turned the heads of everyone present, horrifying them at the same time. Their mouths gaped when they saw a woman floating mid-air before she fell on the rough asphalt. She groaned and spewed blood, adding to the formed crimson pool. Jackson, without wasting a second, rushed to her side. “Someone call an ambulance!” He gently tacked her hair away from her face. The girl’s eyes followed his movement. Visibly frightened, she shivered. Jackson held her hand and patted her head. “It’s going to be okay.” His soothing voice brought about a calmness in her rapid heartbeat. Unable to believe their widened eyes, those present held their mouths with their trembling hands. Muffled voices of fright reached Jackson’s ears. “Hmph! What’s with the horrible acting?” Jackson turned in the voice's direction. He saw a haughty young man in a gray suit. He had just gotten off his sport’s vehicle. A gliste
After a couple of hours in the autobil, Jackson and the others arrived at the Hynkel family estate. With no gates or fences as if it invited people in, the estate welcomed its guests. Although Jackson thought it curious, he more or less understood the meaning behind it. A warlord and a nefarious one lived there. Someone must be stupid enough to infiltrate for whatever reason. The Hynkel family openly showed its might. The road ended when a paved path started, which led into the estate. A garden with abundant greenery and fragrant flowers surrounded the buildings. Different sections divided the place. The current head of the Hynkel family lived at the upper level, whereas Rosalia and her brother, as part of the branch family, lived in the lower. Men and women wearing black suits patrolled the mansion and the surrounding areas, with gun holsters strapped to their chests. It served as a warning to anyone who thought of trying anything against the family. The rest of the family live
Hello all, I know these past few weeks there were no updates, but things have been really hectic at work with Black Friday and all. It's only on the last Friday of November, you say? Nope. Not for retail shops. At least in my country. Some even have the entire month. Fortunately, it wasn't the case in my store, but we still needed to prepare and stock up products. Electric appliances, and all that need space after all. I've seen your comments and appreciate you taking the time. It means a lot, since this book has been going really well with your help and encouragement. It motivates me to keep going. Please be a little more patient with me and I'll get back into it. Thank you all. You guys are awesome! Yours truly, Naughty Snail P.S. You can always reach me on Discord: Wicked_Snail#5682
The noble minister gargled in a pool of his blood. He laid on his stomach, unable to turn around. His face grew pale and the light in his eyes became dim.One could say it was because of the fear he felt at when Ulrich pounded him without remorse. It took but one punch to demolish his spirit.Queen Melina stared down at him from her throne. Silence brewed for several minutes until Ulrich stood next to Jackson. Then the Rosenbaum Kingdom’s queen spoke in an utterly bitter tone. “You, the minister of this nation, betrayed our people, broke laws and murdered innocents for your greed. As queen, I dismiss you from your duties effective immediately. You are to wait in a cell until the day of your execution.”She looked around and met everyone’s eyes, making them realize how serious she was. She then stood up. Just before she left, her voice echoed throughout the throne room. “Take this scum out of my sight!”Until this happened, her people and nobles thought she was just a figurehead not to
Jackson and the queen laid on the bed. She found comfort in his embrace as she caressed his chest with her finger. It followed a circular trajectory which tickled him.The two remained quiet for several minutes.A knock on the door brought them back from their haze. They both got up and dressed. Jackson went to the door. He knocked back and Ulrich pushed it open. His voice echoed through the crack. “Young master, there’s movement in the corridor.”Jackson adjusted his shirt and walked towards the queen. “Your highness. The people I told you about earlier seem to be more active now.”The young woman smiled, buttoned her shirt and walked towards the door. She knocked twice. Her thunderous voice sent chills down Jackson’s spine. “Open the door!”Just as it opened enough for her to go through, the queen slipped outside. Soon enough, the people Jackson followed appeared in front of her. Ulrich flexed his muscles and shielded her.“Hey, Ulrich, push this thing a little more.”Ulrich stepped
He paced back and forth. Once he reached the window, he slightly pulled on the drape, looking outside. The queen’s room was about twenty meters from the ground, yet Jackson couldn’t relax. Not only did he commit a crime by entering the premises illegally, but he found his way in the bedroom of the most important person in all of Rosenbaum Kingdom. After a few deep breaths to calm his nerves, he looked at the half-naked figure of the beauty sitting seductively on the bed, waiting for him to sit beside her. Reluctantly and at a steady pace, Jackson approached the queen. She couldn’t have been over twenty-five or twenty-six years old, yet she ruled an entire nation. No matter how one would look at it, Jackson couldn’t even come close to her magnificence. Their status was too far apart. Under normal circumstances, they wouldn’t be alone in a room like this. Jackson understood this, and didn’t lose his nerve. His goal hadn’t changed. Since he got the chance to tell the queen everythi
Inches before the knife cut the woman’s throat, Rosalia blocked it with her dagger. The intensity of the two metals colliding with one another created sparks that flew in all directions.Rosalia’s reaction to his attack surprised the man in the cloak. After a brief shortness of breath, the man in the cloak regained his composure. He stared daggers at the ruby-eyed girl. “Why don’t you step aside, girl? I’ll give you a portion of the reward.”Uninterested, Rosalia jested. “Eh? Really?”With a grin on his face, the man in a cloak continued. “Yes, that’s right. Just look the other way.”With a smile painted on her face, Rosalia looked at the distressed Marcia. The woman took it as if the ruby-eyed girl would abandon her and closed her eyes, prepared to meet her fate. The man in the cloak walked past Rosalia, towards Ulrich’s wife. “Kahaha! The bounty is mine!”He raised his knife and forcefully directed it towards Marcia.Rosalia said nothing in response when she stepped in front of the
The dim flickering light just barely shone on the documents and photographs on the wall. Ulrich made out some of the pinned faces. From the corners of his eyes, he tracked Jackson’s movements. He did anything warranting attention. Instead, he took his time wandering around the cave, inspecting everything. After a while, he stood idly by with his arms crossed..Ulrich approached him and gently nudged him. “See these people? Mr. Minister is among them…”Jackson’s eyes widened. “Then, they are…”A gust of wind picked up and whistled through the cave walls. It wasn’t much of a disruption, but Jackson decided it was time to go. He got one last look at the pinned photos and left with Ulrich. The tunnel became narrow again. The path led them to a metallic gate, like the one they found before they entered. Maintenance was the only difference. It didn’t creak when Jackson pushed it.At first he flinched, thinking he would notify them of their presence. Once he saw that wasn’t the case, he sigh
