Victor and Elena’s jaws immediately dropped to the floor. They blinked their eyes in disbelief at what they were seeing.
This was Elena’s first time at SweetSky, but not Victor’s. He had been there many times, but never once had he seen a homeless person enter. Let alone homeless people, even middle-class individuals wouldn’t dare to step inside. They would go broke after dining there.
So, what kind of madness had they just witnessed? He and Elena were still stuck outside, so how could homeless people be allowed in?
Victor's chest rose and fell like it was going to explode. He shouted in the guard's face, “Why did you let them in? Are you an idiot or what?!”
“What's going on, Mr. Victor?” A forty-year-old woman in neat clothes reprimanded, behind her the guard followed.
Victor beamed with a smile. Hearing the restaurant manager acknowledge him and call his name, he clearly felt that he was not just any ordinary guest. The guards should know that!
“Mrs. Sisca, thank you for coming so quickly. If not, I might have had to deal with this guard myself. Look, he let those homeless people in and allowed them to dirty SweetSky. If anyone else sees this, it will certainly damage the restaurant's reputation.”
“But don't worry. As a special customer, I’ll keep quiet. I won’t tell my colleagues or friends in high society. This embarrassing incident will remain a secret,” Victor explained at length, puffing out his chest, thinking he was worthy of being called the hero who saved the restaurant.
“Are you done talking?” Mrs. Sisca asked with a sarcastic smile.
Victor wasn’t sure he had heard correctly. “Pardon me?”
“If you’re done, please leave this restaurant. Our guests have arrived,” Mrs. Sisca said, pointing toward the group inside that made Victor and Elena feel disgusted. “We’re very busy and don’t have time for debates. Other guests will be arriving soon as well.”
Elena laughed, thinking that Mrs. Sisca was joking. She extended her hand for a handshake. “Nice to meet you, I’m Elena Moore, Victor Exton’s fiancée. We just got engaged earlier today, and now we’re here for a romantic dinner.”
Mrs. Sisca merely glanced at Elena’s hand without any intention of shaking it. “Wow, congratulations. But I’m afraid, as the guard already explained, SweetSky has been booked. This event was arranged on short notice, but we announced it on our website and sent email notifications. It’s not that we’re being rude, but we don’t want to offend our VVIP customers. So, please, celebrate your engagement elsewhere.”
Victor’s eyes widened. His forehead was sweating as he asked, “VVIP customers? Who do you mean?”
Victor grew anxious because he hadn’t heard anything about any high-profile individuals who had booked the entire SweetSky. He didn’t know whether this event was closed off or if he had been excluded from such important information.
Just as the manager was about to answer Victor’s question, a familiar voice greeted, “Good evening, Mrs. Sisca.”
They turned in unison. Upon seeing the person who greeted them, Victor and Elena stared in shock. Elena quickly shouted, “Jack?! What are you doing here? Oh my God, don’t tell me you’ve been stalking me!”
“Do you know Mr. Jack?”
Victor interjected, “Mrs. Sisca, please don’t call him ‘Mr.’ That’s so inappropriate. Just so you know, this guy was a gardener at my fiancée’s house. He was just fired because he became obsessed with Elena and often did crazy things.”
“Excuse me?” Mrs. Sisca frowned in confusion.
Seeing the annoyed look on Mrs. Sisca's face, Jack interjected, “I came to have dinner here. And you guys, why are you here? Do you want to have dinner too? Why don't you come straight in, but stand in front of the door?” Jack looked sharply at Victor and Elena. However, there was still a smile on his lips.
Clearly, this was out of the scenario!
Jack spoke in a slight whisper, “I tell you, despite their good looks, their lives are miserable, their hearts poorer than poor itself.”
Mrs. Sisca stifled her laughter, while Victor and Elena, who had also heard her, turned red in the face like boiled crabs.
“Insolent! Poor fools! Loser!” Victor cursed, but then he smiled mockingly, “Oh, I see, apparently this is a charity event. No wonder you dared to come here. All you have in your head is free food. You wish you could eat delicious food without paying. What a beggar!”
Elena said, “Really Jack, as your ex-wife, I'm starting to worry. You became unemployed because my fiancé fired you. Then, you got evicted and became homeless. And now, you're here as a beggar! Jack, what kind of setback did you go through that you have to beg for food?!”
Fed up with Victor and Elena's ramblings, Mrs. Sisca silently signaled the two guards to drag them away from SweetSky.
“Mrs. Sisca, you can't do this to me. You'll regret it!” Victor shouted as the guards pulled his hands away.
Similarly, Elena screeched, “Let go! Let go of my hand, you lowly errand boys, you don't deserve to touch me!”
The two guards ignored them. They dragged Victor and Elena to the parking lot and only released their grip there.
Elena was annoyed with her messy appearance. She shook off the traces of the guards' hands, making a disgusted gesture as if she had been hit by a chicken shit.
“You will pay for this. You don't know I'm well-connected, well-acquainted with the elite. Look, overnight I'll disgust them with SweetSky. They won't want to step on the floor those bums once walked on!” Victor was furious.
But the guards took it in stride. In fact, one of them threatened, “Please spread this disgrace to all your colleagues. We will gladly help by uploading the CCTV footage of the expulsion of the two intruders on the SweetSky website.”
“You guys...” Victor's voice trailed off. He stared resentfully at the two departing guards, then muttered, “How dare they threaten me.”
Victor smiled wryly as the threat really made him uneasy. Being kicked out of the restaurant was humiliating enough, let alone being labeled as an intruder. Definitely, he had no choice but to keep quiet, swallowing all the bitter treatment from SweetSky's side.
However, despite all the humiliation, there was one thing that bothered Victor.
Who exactly was the VVIP member? He could even turn SweetSky into a feeding ground for the homeless.
Victor's eyeballs rounded as he realized something. “Wait, since when does SweetSky have a VVIP category?”
