(Catherine explains her and Salina's journey to the boss monster from her perspective!)After a deep breath, we glanced at the dark forest. It was a chilling scene due to the eerie aura this forest shrouds itself in. The first night we spent together left us terrified already, which was one of the reasons we had a hard time convincing ourselves to do it again.Although we were already in the jungle, the presence of many people around us and Fred's camp reclaiming a fortress made us forget the threat of the forest. When both of us realized we had to march into the jungle all alone, maybe surrounded by the wolves, we laughed about having to piss in our pants. We stood paralyzed and pondered why Tejasv would assign us such a mission when he and Daemon could complete it much more easily than us. We rubbed our chins and contemplated, only to conclude nothing in the end. There was nothing to state as a reason for the sudden learning of the difficulty of our task. Until now, we fought togeth
(Catherine’s perspective resumed with Salina)The moment I dived over the wolves, they turned around with a twitch in their ears, as if they had noticed the slight sounds I let out while leaping over them. All four of the wolves grunted and swung their sharp claws at me at once.I thrust my katana swiftly and struck the first wolf nearest to me. That wolf still hadn’t balanced itself from the sudden rush they all faced from my appearance. Hence, I swung my Katana at its neck and decapitated it with a robust swing. The remaining three of the beasts stood firmly and roared at my attack, and groaned for the death of their kin. I swallowed and firmly stood in a stance since they encircled me all around with their swift movements. For a while, the situation remained impasse, and we all looked at each other. It was evident we were gauging the opponent's strengths and weaknesses. However, not all of the wolves were patient enough to glare only. Two of them leaped abruptly in agitation.Their
(Catherine’s perspective along with Salina's)I was stunned and moved towards Salina after culling all of the wolves on the sort of watch. When I gradually closed the distance between myself and Salina; the scene I witnessed left me pale and paralyzed. In my heavy breathing and exhaustion, I forgot to ponder how Salina may have felt while watching me fight for both of us and betting my life on the line.Salina was trembling in the bushes while curling herself and clenching the knife I gave her tightly. The shivers in her body were vigorous and dynamic as if the fear had seeped deep into her heart.I gazed at her for a while and even felt helpless since I had no idea how to comfort her. When I found no satisfying answer in my heart, I ghastly ran towards her and carried her up with a tight hug.I somehow comforted her and didn't let go until she calmed down and her shivers faded. For a while, I also noticed a few tears in her eyes, as if she felt guilty for not aiding me in fighting th
(Catherine’s perspective resumed with Salina)As we moved forward into the darkness, the dense and thick forest became even more eerie than earlier. The aloof fear shrouding the surroundings and gradually creeping over us intensified with each passing second. From that point, I took the front, and Salina directed me from behind. I hurried through the branches and bushes, while Salina followed me slowly and tried not to fall on the ground from the chill. The more silence we encountered, the more intimidated our senses became. It was challenging to even peer far ahead a few steps in that density of darkness and trees. After a few more steps, Salina pulled me back with a jerk. Before I could ask her out loud the reason for her action, she put a finger on her mouth and gestured to me not to speak a word aloud. Without even a slight sound, she pointed in a direction and told me to avoid that part. From her expressions, I realized that the region could be threatening to our lives, and now t
(Salina’s perspective with Catherine)Ahem! After my sister Catherine warned me(Salina) about the presence of the boss monster, I remained still on my stand to take part in this crucial task and resolved to complete this mission even if I had to step out of my comfort zone.Sis Catherine picked up a stone and threw it to the opposite side of the cave to distract the wolves. However, not all of them reacted to that. Only two of them moved from their places and went to check the sound.Since there was no other option left, sis stepped out of the bushes and yelled aloud, "You fucking dogs, come and get me!" As her voice echoed, the wolves turned around from the straddling noise around their lair. They looked anxious and frowned at the appearance of Catherine on their turf. Their rage and agitation were obvious from their roar. They grunted and stepped forward towards her, scratching their claws on the ground.Gradually, they encircled her and moved around her to form a circular formation
(Salina’s perspective with Catherine)When I stepped into the cave, the darkness around me shrouded me anteriorly and only a slight opening of the cave could be seen due to the moonlight shining in the sky. My fears gradually intensified and I shuddered from even the slightest sound of my breathing. However, my breath wasn't the only sound resounding around me. In that eerie silence, I could hear some howls coming from the outside and the roars of Sister Catherine fighting those wolves. From the echoes of those sounds, I could ascertain the situation Catherine must be in and how the battle was happening outside. It also worked as a time limit, warning me to work faster and increase my pace.Although my senses were sharp and the tension heightened my resolve, the darkness was the only enemy against me. I was having trouble scouting the area for the boss monster because of the darkness. In fact, my heart rate increased as I couldn't see anything while my brain recalled seconds after sec
(Salina’s perspective resumed with Catherine)After watching Sis Cath fighting in that bloodshed, I felt shivers in my spine and even my eyes became wet from the scenario. Her wounds and injuries left a lasting impression on my conscience.I rushed back into the cave to at least complete the task given to me. I stood before the wolf cub and gazed at it for a while. I frowned and refused to admit that the small creature was the boss monster in this dungeon. After pondering, I rolled my eyes around and scrutinized the place more to confirm there was no other beast around to be considered as a boss monster. I scrolled and racked my brains to find any other living being. However, my efforts were in vain since there was no one around other than us two.I stood before the wolf cub again and contemplated. My hands shivered with even a simple thought of it being the leader of the pack while the echoes of the sound of Catherine fighting rang in the whole cave, shuddering me to the core. Her ro
(Salina’s perspective resumed with Catherine)As the wolves charged at Sister Catherine, the latter responded in kind to their provocation. Cath swung her katana repeatedly with great strength behind each attack. She jabbed and thrust her weapon into every opening she could find in those wolves.Meanwhile, the wolves, on the other hand, didn't step down or give up; they slashed their sharp claws and even slithered their tongue to frighten the women in the battle. Their dripping saliva was the only sight one could notice rather than the blood-shedding from their wounds. The intimidating figure of the injured beasts was enough to stun anyone facing them head-on. Even I, who was standing far away watching the fight, felt jitters down my spine from the collision of both sides. The pressure around them intensified, and I speculated on how to aid Sis in surviving her dilemma. I could notice her breathing halting after their clashes, and she had a hard time moving her limbs since the tension
