Gabe woke up and came outside the house. Ulf was chatting with the squirrels, which quickly scurried away and climbed the trees.

“Why did they run away? I didn’t do anything,” Gabe said.

{You actually stepped on two ants the moment you stepped foot outside the house.} Ulf said.

“What?” Gabe lifted his foot to see if there were dead ants stuck to the sole of his sandals, but there weren’t any.

{You, or humans in general, step on and kill many ants every day.} Ulf added. {When you move around in your house, walk outside casually, every time you do something, some ants die.}

“Surely… that’s not the reason the squirrels ran away, right?” Gabe couldn’t help but ask.
