CHAPTER 217

As Nathan returned to the dining room, the aroma of Vanessa’s cooking filled the air.

Brian was still filled with so much excitement.

Nathan smiled as he took his seat at the head of the table, his usual spot, with Vanessa seated on his right and Grace on his left.

Brian, of course, had claimed the seat right beside Nathan, his small hands resting on the edge of the table as he practically bounced with excitement.

“Brian, slow down,” Grace said with a laugh as the boy reached for his glass of juice.

“But, Mom! I want to tell Nathan about school!” Brian protested, turning to Nathan with eager eyes. “Today, we talked about heroes in class! I told everyone about you!”

Nathan paused, his fork midway to his mouth, and chuckled softly. “Oh, you did, did you?”

Brian nodded enthusiastically, his eyes wide with excitement. “Yeah! I said you’re the best hero ever! Some of the kids didn’t believe me, but then Mrs. Peterson said she saw you on TV, and she said you’re a hero too!”
