6. The Ex-girlfriend

Lucian frowns. "What are you doing here? How did you get in?" his voice was cold as he walked past her. The familiar smell of her perfume lingered around his nose, making his heart sting. It took all his strength to appear emotionless. It seemed facing her was harder than he had thought.

"It wasn't locked," Veronica replied, while her eyes examined the room before they landed on Lucain's face. She didn't see any hint of pain in his eyes, so Veronica heaved a sigh and dropped the box she held. "I can return the things you gave. They are cheap, and I don't need them."

Lucian clenched his fist and let out a scoff. "Why didn't you just burn them instead of bringing them here," Lucain's voice was so icy that it caught Veronica off guard. She shivered, making Lucian notice she was wearing a handless crop top. The thought of her catching a cold crossed his mind, but he struggled and shook the thought from his mind. She was no longer his business; he didn't need to care for her.

"I thought you might need them to console yourself," Veronica replied, noticing the subtle pain that lingered in the corner of his eyes.

"Well, I don't need them; take them and get lost," Lucian said, pointing at the door.

After the incident, he wanted a chance to talk one-on-one with Veronica to ask her why she betrayed him, but right now, he saw that there was no need and that she was nothing but a gold digger.

"Is that all?" Veronica asked, surprised at his response.

Lucian scoffs. "Did you expect me to be heartbroken and ask you why you did it?" he shook his head. "I don't have anything to say to you, Veronica; please leave," he said in a rasping breath, trying hard to hold his anger laced with pain and betrayal.

Veronica frowns, turning to leave the halt at the threshold. "So that you know, I don't regret it." She said, closing behind her.

Lucian heaves a sigh, forcing her memory off his head. He entered the bathroom, freshened up, and had a change of clothes. His phone vibrated, and Lucian glanced across the screen to see the unknown number; when Lucian answered, he heard a female voice from the other end of the line.

"Is this Lucian Morningstar? "the voice asked.

"Yes, who is this?" Lucia replied.

"I'm Felicia from the Greenxive re-estate company. I'm at your dorm with a Lamborghini to pick you up for the house inspection," she said.

Lucian's brain sickly remembered adding the address to the website when he bought his condo.

"I will be there in a minute," he replied, ending the call. Lucian quickly packed his textbooks, shoved them inside his backpack, and headed for the door. There was no need to take any other thing from his dorm.

When Lucian exited his dorm, he saw Veronica and her friends standing in front of Billy's car, which she borrowed to flex with her friend, but for whatever reason, they seemed to find his dormitory a comfortable place to do so. Lucina ignored their presence, scanning the area until his gaze rested on the black Lamborghini and a woman in a black dress standing next to it. Lucian waved at her, confirming his identity, and she reciprocated his gesture by waving back at him.

Veronica and her friend were stunned watching Lucian approach the beautiful lady. After the exchange gesture, they watch him enter a Lamborghini with a pretty woman.

"Oh my God," isn't that Lucain," one of Veronica's friends asked. "Who is the lady he is with? She looks rich."

Veronica immediately daggered her gaze at her, slicing her words. "I'm sure something is off about the situation. Who would want to date a poor boy still living in a dormitory." Veronica spat, entering her car, and her friends mirrored her action. Immediately, the Lamborghini drove out of the dorm; they followed suit.

Meanwhile, the company specially sent the lady who picked up Lucian as a gesture for their first sale of the day.

"Good day, Mr.Morningstar," the lady greeted as they approached the school gate.

"Just call me Lucian," he replied, suddenly feeling cold. The temperature inside the car was far colder than that of the one outside.

"Alright, Lucian," Felicia smiled. For someone who was sent to pick him up, she was damn gorgeous. Lucian noticed he had been staring too much and peeled his eyes from her. "Is this your first time buying from us?" Felicia asked.

Lucian nodded in response. "It's my first time buying a house."

"Wow! Then congratulations!" she beamed. "For someone your age, it is a big achievement," Fecila said.

'We are probably the same age, lady,' Lucian said in his heart.

Felicia laughs the moment she notices Lucian's expression. "We might be the same age, so that is why it's a big achievement."

Lucian laughed; he was surprised at how she read his thoughts. "You own a Lamborghini," Lucaian pointed out, earning another laugh from her.

"It comes with the company," Felicia replied, and Lucian stared at the rearview mirror to glance at her but noticed they were being followed.

"We're being followed," Lucain notified her, and Felicia glanced at the rearview mirror.

"That's the same car from your dormitory," she replied, and Lucian nodded.

"Can you lose them?" he asked, and Felicia nodded with a smirk. She stepped on the gas and zoomed through the highway, and in no time, the car following them wasn't seen anymore.
