I got dressed and headed for school. I needed to take my mind off things and behave like a regular student. I lived my life and graduated, but the truth was that I wasn't normal anymore. I was a grim reaper.
I walked into the school and looked around. The thought of seeing another fire demon was all I could think about. I needed to find the fire demon that had my parent's soul trapped inside of him. I felt a tap on my shoulder and looked back to see that it was Jonas. I looked at his face, and I noticed he didn't remember anything that happened to him. "You look like you are seeing a ghost. Is there something in my face?" Jonas asked, looking at me. "Are you alright?" I asked again with a smile. "Shouldn't I be?" Jonas replied"I guess it worked then." I replied, walking away from him. "What worked?""I need to catch up with the school curriculum activities. Can you help with that?" " Sure. There will be a night class later today. Would you like to join?" Jonas asked "Of course, what time?" I looked at him. "I am not quite sure, but I will make sure to tell you when I am sure. Flora and Zaco are coming, though." Jonas warned, "Are you okay with that?" I looked at Jonas, and part of me wanted to say no, but I had no reason to hide away from both of them. "I definitely would come; just let me know when and where." I said with a smile, "Thank you." I looked back at Jonas, and I was glad he didn't remember any of what happened. It was cool having someone to talk to about all of this, but seeing what could happen if he was caught in the middle of it all, it was best if he never had to find out. I was about to enter my department when I saw Grace. I saw the look on her face and smiled. "You don't need to feel apologetic; that was not your fault." "Still, I can't believe he would hit you with a brick. Are you alright?" she asked, moving closer to me. "I am; I guess I am better than before if you would ask me." I replied with a wide grin, touching the back of my head.Grace walked closer. "Would you want to study together later today?" she asked with a smile on her face. There was no doubt I was falling for her, but the thought of her fire demon boy friend scared me. "What about your boyfriend? Is he cool with all of this?" I asked, looking at her. " Boyfriend? I don't have a boyfriend." Grace replied, and I looked at her with disbelief. "You don't? Then who was that guy that had me knocked out?" Grace paused for a minute and looked at me. "Why don't we talk about this during the launch period? You can meet me in the school cafeteria." She replied, walking briskly away from me. I looked at her rear and rubbed my hand over my hair. I would definitely have asked her out instead of Flora. "Where was she when I needed a girlfriend?" I thought to myself as I got seated in the classroom, thinking of seeing Grace after class. "Max! Max!!." I heard a voice calling my name, and I looked back to see who it was. "Are you alright, Max?" The teacher asked, seeing that I was a bit distracted. "I am fine." I replied, focusing my gaze on the book before me. I heard my name repeatedly, and I carried my bag while walking out of the class. I went to the restroom and looked around. "Who is that, and what do you want with me?" I shouted in annoyance. The toilet door was opened, and a Mael student looked at me as he walked out. I saw the look in his eye. "I am not mad!" I shouted in anger at him. "Can you just relax and listen to me?" I heard Derek's voice. "You could have just told me it was you." I replied, looking at the mirror before me. "I know you are angry right now, and you need to find the fire demon that has your parent's soul, but you need to be careful, and let's work as a team. You are yet to discover your abilities, and I can help you with them. All you have to do is calm down and trust me." Derek said calmly I looked at the mirror before me again in anger. "Calm down! Would you calm down if you had your parents killed when you were a child? My hope of becoming what I want—my dream, my world—came crashing down with their deaths, and here you are telling me to calm down." I shouted " Max, We know how you feel, but the demon in question is unlike anything we have ever faced before. We can't risk letting him harass your powers and gifts. The world would be plunged into chaos if it got a hold of your power." Zoey said gently"What do you want me to do? I am just a regular kid, and I don't plan for all of this to happen. I don't want to keep seeing demons, and neither do I want to be a grim reaper." I said it with a sigh. "Look on the bright side, kid, You have the money to do whatever you want, and I am sure you definitely have a girl you would want to impress. You were a nobody before, and thanks to Aurora, the goddess of the grim Reaper system, you became a rich kid. Would you rather go back to the way you were before, a nobody?" Gilbert asked, and there was silence. I definitely love the fact that I was rich and was able to afford what I wanted, but I didn't sign up for some weird demon fights. I thought it was going to be all easy, but having gone through some power struggles with the fire demon, I knew it was just the beginning. The door to the toilet plunged open, and I looked at the two students before me. I looked at them and saw they had a demon in them, but it wasn't a fire demon. "What are you?" one of them asked me with a snarl.I looked at the demons before me, and I don't know what to do. I looked up, and an encrypted message from the system appeared before me. [SYSTEM: GRIM REPAPER SYSTEM MODE ACTIVATED] [SYSTEM TASK: RELEASE THE GLOW DEMONS] [SYSTEM REWARD: $56,000,000]I looked at the message I got from the system, and I knew I had to face the demons myself. "Don't do anything stupid, Max. We are on our way." Derek shouted through the mind-communication system. "I can handle this on my own; there is no need to panic."I looked at the demons, and my appearance changed. "This looks cool." I said with a smile, admiring myself in the mirror before me. I charged at the demon, and we fought fiercely, breaking everything in our way. They were stronger than me, and I wonder why. "The territory," my mind reminded me. I remember how I had put the territory, giving power to Derek and the rest of the reapers. I knew it was something I had no control over. "Find the territory, max." I heard Aurora's voice. I ran
I looked around, and I could see almost all the students staring at the pictures and looking at my face. I think they were trying to compare my face to the Grim Reaper they had seen earlier. The picture was circulating at Prospera's Academy. "Was that you, Max?" one of the students asked, walking closer to me. He showed me the picture he was looking at and looked at my face. "No, that wasn't me." I lied, walking faster towards my dorm. "What is going on with everyone? How can they just believe what they see? That picture was even blurry." I said as I walked faster.I met Zaco and some of his bullies on the route to my dorm, and we changed paths. "Hey buddy," I said. I looked back, and I saw Jonas walking towards me. "Have you seen the pictures going around the school?" he asked, bringing out his phone. "What do you think?" Jonas brightened up his phone and showed me the picture. "I saw that already, and I can't believe everyone thinks I am the one." I looked at Jonas, trying to hear
Jonas lifted me onto the bed and quickly got a cold, wet towel over my head. Derek and his friends entered my dorm and saw Jonas tending to me. "Who are you?" he asked, seeing Derek "We are here to help. Can you step aside, please?" Zoey said, gently looking at Jonas. "Will it be alright?" He was a little shaken up by what was going on. "You need to give us some space. Here, go and get me some ice. We need to keep his fever down." Jonas collected the basin from her and raced out of the room. "Can you heal him?" Derek looked at Gilbert. "I am going to try." He said this gently, putting his hands over me. Gilbert looked at my face and saw that I was not going to wake up anytime soon. "I think something is wrong. Let me try reading his memory." Zoey looked at Derek. She rolled her clothes up and placed her hand gently on my head. Zoey's eye turned whitish as she entered my past. **************************************************************************{ PAST }"Daddy, can we go an
{ PAST I watched a blue light come out of my mother and enter his body, making him choke. He smiled wickedly and made sure Martha was dead. He took the capsule and looked at me as I closed my eyes and blood ticked over my body. I pushed Zoey away and charged at the man. "Don't," Zoey shouted as I was about to land a punch on the strange man. I looked back at her. "You promised you would help me avenge my parent's death, and here you are not doing anything when the killer is right in front. The man stood still and looked around. He felt there were people around him, but he couldn't see us. "The moment you touched him, then you would disrupt the balance between the past and the present. I promise to help you avenge your parents, but we have to do it the right way." Zoey replied, bringing me to the present. **************************************************************************{ PRESENT }I opened my eyes slowly as tears welled in them. Zoey held my hand and looked at me. "Don't
The man looked at both of us and wondered what was going on. "Max, we can get another; just let him have this one." Jonas looked at me, but I wasn't ready to let go. The man smiled, seeing it as a chance to increase the money for the sports car. "Well, since both of you are interested in buying the car, why don't we have the highest bidder buy it?" The man looked at Zaco and then back at me."That car was originally sold for $34,000,000, but since you both are interested, I would like to increase the price a little bit. So, why don't we start with $36,000,000?" He looked at me and smiled. "$37,000,000," Zaco said with a wide grin. "$39,000,000," I quickly replied, and the man looked at us. "Final price," he said, dangling the car keys right in front of us. Zaco rubbed his hands over his hair. I laughed seeing he couldn't beat the money I mentioned. "I think we have a..." "$40,000,000" Zaco shouted, and I looked at him, surprised."Can I have the keys, please?" Zaco moved forward
I heard Aurora's voice inside my head telling me to run or wait for Derek and his minions, but I was too angry to wait. I immediately brought out the territory and raced towards the demon. It charged towards me, and we cashed, sending waves around the building. The walls cracked as we fought tirelessly. He was stronger than me. I felt his kick and punches to my face severely. He looked at me and laughed. "I remember your face. Aren't you the little child that had his parents killed?" He said it with a smirk. "Had my parents been killed? What are you talking about?" I looked at him again and wondered what the demon was blabbering about. I charged at him again, but he gave me an uppercut, sending me back to the floor. I hit my head against a stone and. lost consciousness. The loud thud beside me woke me up, and I saw Derek beside me. "What part of the wait don't you get? I have told you several times to always wait for the team. You can't take on most of the demons alone," he said, and
We both laughed as we entered the popular KFC restaurant. Brian looked at me continuously and asked, "What?" I asked, looking at his face. "You know you can speak if you are trying to tell me something, right?" I looked at him as I made my way towards the front of the table. Brian walked closer and whispered into my ears. I smiled and looked at him. "All the more reason we need to sit down and order our food," I replied, placing an order for our lunch. We went back to the table and sat down. I caught Flora looking at me, and I laughed. "I am not going to order the whole restaurant, darling." I said it with a smile, and everyone looked at me. " What? Isn't that the guy who ordered the whole boutique the last time we went shopping?" A lady spoke silently into the ears of her boyfriend, and I laughed. They both looked at me and wondered who I was. I could see the fear setting in Zack's eyes. They both stood up immediately and walked out of the restaurant, like I was asking them to le
It was Saturday morning. I yawned lazily and got out of bed. My head was throbbing hard as I walked into the bathroom to have some water poured over my head. I stared into the glass, and I noticed I wasn't seeing my face. "Ah!." I shouted, falling back to the floor. I stood up gently and looked into the mirror, and it was gone. "What was that?" I asked myself, a little frightened.I have been having very disturbing dreams recently, and I don't know if they are connected to the fact that I was a Grim Reaper or to my past. I brushed my teeth as I was lost in thought, and my dreams flashed back before me. The fire demon staring at me sent a cold shiver down my spine. I rushed into bed and had myself covered with dulves. The dream was terrible; I felt life f flee from my body as the fire demon's sinister laugh echoed in my ears. I closed my eyes and had the same dream all over and over again. I heard a loud bang at my door, and my eyes opened wide. I walked to the corner of my room and p
