Chapter 32: The Gathering Storm

The morning sun bathed the city in a golden light, casting long shadows across the streets. The cathedral, now a sanctuary of silence, stood as a testament to the battle that had just unfolded within its walls. Outside, the city was waking up, blissfully unaware of the dark forces that had been at work while they slept.

Victor, Selene, and Lucian made their way back to the heart of the city. Lucian, still nursing his wound, insisted on walking unaided, his pride refusing to let him show weakness. Selene kept close to him, her worry hidden behind a facade of calm.

As they walked, Victor’s mind was a whirlwind of thoughts. The ritual had succeeded, but the encounter with the dark figures had left him unsettled.
