Inside, the air was thick with tension. Gabriel's eyes adjusted to the dim light, and he saw a man sitting tied to a chair in the center of the room. The man looked up, his eyes filled with fear.

Gabriel recognized him after a long stare and muttered, "Dax."

Don Makul asked, "You know him?"

Gabriel nodded, "I clearly do. He's one of Vincent Morgan's subordinates."

Don Makul frowned and said, "Dax told me they were hired by some low-level gang to cause trouble, but he didn’t mention Vincent Morgan's name."

Gabriel, not believing what Dax had said earlier to Don Makul, glared at Dax, who avoided his gaze. "Who are you working for?" Gabriel demanded, stepping closer.

Dax shuddered but remained silent.

Gabriel's patience was wearing thin. "I won't ask again."

Dax finally spoke, his voice dripping with anxiety. "You know him. He’s powerful and..."

Gabriel cut in curtly, "Certainly your boss, Vincent Morgan. Right?"
