Chapter 57

Camella got home and proceeded to make dinner for her and her family. As she stirred the simmering pot on the stove, Jessie bounced into the kitchen, her face beaming with excitement. "Mom, guess what?" she exclaimed, tugging at Camella's apron.

Camella turned to her daughter, a smile playing on her lips. "What is it, sweetie?" she asked, setting down the wooden spoon.

"Daddy took me to the park today, and we played tag, and he even pushed me on the swings!" Jessie exclaimed, her eyes shining with happiness.

Camella's heart swelled with pride and gratitude as she listened to Jessie's recount of her day with Gabriel. "That sounds like so much fun, sweetheart," she said, reaching out to ruffle Jessie's hair affectionately.

Just then, Gabriel walked into the kitchen, his expression softening as he saw Jessie's excitement. "Hey, champ," he said, his voice gentle. "How was your day?"
