The Clock Ticks

Derek was certain of what he heard, he stared at Jonathan like someone who just heard a joke. He knew something was fishy since Jonathan came in, but he never expected that it would be of this magnitude.

“Is this all a joke or what?” Derek asked, he had a half smile and a half serious expression.

Jonathan glanced at Elena, he knew this wouldn’t be an easy task; naturally he didn’t expect Derek to accept this request instantly, it was a very surprising thing, no one would expect Jonathan of all people to seek for Ethan’s inheritance, especially when he’s about to die.

It was a big blow to the Cole’s family if Ethan were to find out.

“It isn’t a joke, Derek. Jonathan has the connections and resources to make our plan work; all he’s asking for his a compensation in return,” Elena tried to clear the tensed air, but Derek wasn’t having any of it,

“I’ve known you for decades uncle Jonathan, if you wanted a part of my fathers wealth or properties, why didn’t you just ask him directly?”
