A couple of minutes after Ryker left, Sara stepped into their mansion gleefully to see her mother and her sister in a brooding state with a frown on their faces.
“Why are you keeping long faces when we should be celebrating? That leech is finally out of our lives. He signed the divorce,” She said, happily waving the divorce document in the air before dropping it on the table.
Melanie crossed her arms and her frown deepened.
“Why should we celebrate, when he came here and almost beat us up?”
Sara’s smile vanished. “He did what?!”
“Yes sister, he even promised to deal with us. That scum, threatening to deal with us,” Audrey scoffed disdainfully.
“That bastard!” Sara retorted in anger, scrunching her nose before she smiled again. “Don’t let him ruin your mood with mere words, he’s a weakling who can’t do anything.”
She reached into her bag and pulled out an invitation card.
“Tomorrow, Sebastian is taking me to the engagement ceremony of Nico Reyes, our family is about to prosper,” She said with a smile.
Melanie’s mood was immediately lifted, hearing her daughter had the rare privilege of attending the engagement ceremony of the son of one of the wealthiest families in Crimson.
“Do you mean Reyes as in the Reyes family of the Cain group? The real estate giants of this city?” She asked in excitement, glee shining in her eyes.
“Yes mother, the same one. Sebastian’s family does business with them,” Sara replied, grinning from ear to ear.
“Then we must make sure you look your very best tomorrow. Many influential and wealthy bachelors will surely be there, even more influential than Sebastian. We mustn’t lose the chance for you to catch one of their eyes,” Melanie replied with a coy smile.
If Sara could catch a bigger fish than Sebastian, it would only mean more prosperity for their family.
Meanwhile, as mother and daughters were having their discussion, a few miles away, Ryker was almost run over by a car but his quick reflexes helped him evade it narrowly.
The car screeched, missing him by an inch and running into a lamp post, denting its fender.
The car was no ordinary car, it was a Bentley Mulliner Bacalar worth over two million dollars and the lady that stepped out of the driver’s side of the car matched her luxury car with how sophisticated and ethereal she looked.
She was a fascinating beauty and Ryker was awestruck by her breathtaking appearance, her long legs looked extremely sexy and seductive, highlighted by the mini gown she was wearing.
“Hey, if you have a death wish, choose another car to jump in front of, you must pay for the damages done to my car,” She said in an angry tone, marching towards Ryker.
Ryker was perplexed at her words.
He was walking by the edge of the road, it was her who swerved towards him.
‘What the heck is she talking about?’ He mused.
“You should be apologising for almost hitting me, not asking me to pay for any damages,” Ryker replied curtly.
“Hey Punk!” A man stepped out of the other side of the car. He looked big, muscular and strong. “Do you have any idea who you’re talking to? Apologise right now!”
“I don’t care if she’s the president of the country, she’s at fault, if anyone should apologise it should be her.”
Ryker stood his ground.
“You imbecile, you want Samatha Grey to apologise to you? Are you courting death?!” The man’s tone was furious, his eyes narrowing dangerously at Ryker.
Ryker squinted his brows because the name rang a bell.
The Greys were a powerful force in Crimson, one of the three great houses of the county. One word from them could render a Fortune 500 organisation bankrupt in a split second. Their pockets and influence ran deep and they have been at the top for centuries.
“I don’t care if she’s grey or black, she owes me an apology,” Ryker replied, dipping his hands in his pocket confidently and keeping a pointed look.
Samantha became livid at Ryker’s retort.
“ How dare you mock my family name?!”
She raised her hand to slap Ryker but he caught in a flash, throwing it back.
His act made Samantha’s nose flared in fury.
“Break that hand he just touched me with,” she ordered the man with her.
“Kneel and apologise right now and she just may forgive you,” The man said to Ryker, sizing him up.
He was far bigger, more skilled and definitely stronger than this man in front of him, or so he thought.
“Make me,” Ryker replied defiantly.
“You asked for it, punk,” the man said, aiming a dangerously fast and strong kick at Ryker’s head but Ryker easily caught his leg, not even moving by an inch from the strong and sudden impact.
Still holding on to the man’s leg, Ryker raised the man who was at least four times his weight high above his head effortlessly, before smashing him into the ground in a brutal slam.
Samantha jumped back and her mouth fell to the floor from the shock she went into.
The man Ryker effortlessly defeated was no ordinary bodyguard, he was master Cage, one of the most feared and respected young martial artists in all of Crimson and even in the county, yet this lean looking man had handled him like nothing.
“Who- who are you?” Cage asked, feeling pain course all over his body, with blood dripping out of his nose and mouth and he was unable to stand on his feet.
At that moment, Samantha’s grandfather, Kelvin Grey, the patriarch of the Grey family, stepped out of the vehicle.
Despite his old age, he was quite an agile man.
However, the moment he spotted the ring on Ryker’s finger, his heart sprinted and fear seized him for the life of his granddaughter and their personal bodyguard.
The last time he saw that ring, he was a young man and the wielder of that ring was known to be a phenom, a god among men.
Insane dread and reverie filled him at the same time making him tremble in astonishment towards Ryker.
“Dominus, I pay my respects,” He said, bowing to Ryker with his hands clasped together.
